The Different Offline Advertising Techniques

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

All companies allot a large sum of money for advertising purposes. It is the only way to promote the company’s products and services. It not only helps to drive sales of the products and services, but also builds a brand identity of the new product to the customers. All changes in the product line are also communicated to the customers through advertising.

Various media can be used for advertising and that is why there can be several types and branches of advertising, such as print advertising, outdoor advertising, broadcast advertising, covert advertising, surrogate advertising, public service advertising and celebrity advertising.

Print Advertising is the oldest and the most popular type of advertising and is done through newspapers, magazines, brochures and fliers. For most newspapers, this is their biggest income, because they sell advertising space according to the size and the position of the advertisement. Besides, an ad in a popular newspaper would cost much more than in a less popular one. The price of the ad depends on the quality of the paper.

Outdoor advertising is mainly done on billboards, through kiosks, tradeshows and events. These are common examples as the company’s products can be shown to the audience by displaying them in the kiosks or tradeshows. It is important to hold the attention of the audience passing by. Trade fairs and fashion shows are organized to advertise the latest designs introduced by the company. For example, if the company makes sports products, a sports tournament is also a type of advertisement for their products.

The television is today the most popular type of advertising, especially with children. Advertising on the internet has gained immense popularity too. Radio jingles always have a memorable impact on the audience. Advertising on television is expensive, and depends on a variety of factors like the duration of the advertisement, the time of broadcast and the popularity of the television channel.

Advertising in movies is often subtle and not as evident as broadcast advertising. The main character of the movie uses a certain brand of product, like a watch or a soft drink, or even a car. Often this is also called indirect or surrogate advertising, when products like alcohol and cigarettes are advertised, which are prohibited by law. The product is then not shown directly, but the company or brand name is advertised promoting another product.

For the purpose of advertising beautiful men and women are shown on pictures or on screen to promote the company’s products. These models become ambassadors of the products and because of the popularity of advertising and the large budgets of the companies; modeling has become a popular profession for many. Today celebrities have also started signing up for advertising campaigns and hence the popularity of the product gets linked to the popularity of the celebrity.

Public service advertising is meant to advertise social causes. All socially relevant messages related to any important matters like conservation of energy, AIDS or illiteracy are made known to the public through advertising. In the US, all television and radio channels are granted a fixed amount of public service advertisements which can be aired by their channels.

Four Ways To Increase and Improve Word Of Mouth Advertising Offline

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Word of mouth advertising is the most inexpensive and yet the most effective of any type of advertising. To get the word out about your company include a variety of different mediums in your marketing plan to attract the widest customer base possible. These include custom displays and display signage in target rich areas, radio, and community events.

Custom Displays and Display Signage

Creating award winning custom displays goes hand in hand with a great location. You need to decide who and where your customers really are before ordering your display signage. If you cut hair and specialize in the latest hairstyles for teens, for example, having custom displays with your cards in the food court of a mall would be ideal.

From there, you can determine the amount of space you have to work with and get your message across with the perfect combination of graphics and text. In the former example, you could show pictures of clients you have worked with previously. You could also use a modern theme featuring some of the latest trends and color palettes for teens and combine it with a catchy tagline. Include your logo and contact information to complete the advertisements.

Radio and Television Advertising

A large portion of the public still listens to local radio and television stations to keep up on what’s going on in the community. Make your business one of these events. Basic advertising slots are good for a start. To grab attention from the public, collaborate with the local media or have a contest to build momentum around your business.

You could have the viewers or listeners collect a series of words, for instance, and have them bring the words in to enter for a contest or have so many customers collect a series of words and bring them in to be entered into a draw. Using the hair cutting business as an example, the winner could receive a makeover. This could be covered by the radio station or local television station, or it could be done in conjunction with a community event.

Community Events

Customers will shop and use a business that isn’t afraid to give back to the community. If there is a family or charity in need, use your resources to help them. For example, you could set aside one day where a percentage or all of the money made off haircuts goes to a local charity. If you don’t want to be quite so directly involved, sponsor a group or event that benefits the community. Lastly, you can donate to local schools or causes.

Display signage is effective, but when you use a variety of mediums, your message will reach more people and have a huge effect on your word of mouth advertising. Custom displays, the media, and community events give you the opportunity to send a message directly to your customers so when they think of your industry, they think of you.

Canvas Prints, Scents, And Music - Creating an Environment For Satisfied Clients

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Canvas prints along with the right choice of scents and music might be just what your business needs to keep customers happy. Clients dislike waiting even at the best of times and they shouldn’t have to. Though you try not to make them wait, it is sometimes beyond your control. By planning ahead and taking steps to make the experience as pleasant as possible, you can keep them more relaxed and happier. Some ideas you might want to consider include interior graphics, calming smells, and soft melodies.

Canvas Prints And Interior Graphics

Scenery on canvas prints and a selection of interesting interior graphics keep the clients eyes and mind occupied. They can spend time looking into the canvas prints and processing all of the interior graphics. Time will pass faster for them and they might even like sitting and enjoying the scenery created in the space.

Larger pictures will add to the decor in the room. Just be sure to look at the message they are sending before hanging them on the wall. Instead of a political or social subject, aim for abstract designs, scenes, or still life that will be enjoyed by a large number of people. Signage and other small pieces throughout the area can focus on your company brand and ideas by including your logo, colors, and designs.

Scents

When working with the public, fragrances are never a good idea particularly if they are strong because of allergies. This doesn’t mean that they can’t be used in a subtle manner. The room should smell and look clean. Having to wait a minute in a smelly room is unprofessional and a torture for your guests. To add the slightest scent the room, look to your cleaning products. Scents you may want to use are lavender, lemon, or vanilla. Setting a bounce sheet in the bottom of the garbage cans will help to fight the smell and hold a soft scent in the area.

Sounds

A dentist’s office is a great example of the use of sound in a business environment. The use of music throughout the office and in the chair keep the patient’s mind off the unpleasant procedures performed in the office. In some instances, the customers may be able to choose their own music. In waiting rooms and public areas, however, you will need to find music that will not offend anyone and fit as many people as possible.

Local radio stations can make a good choice because they cover local news and have a mix of music. Mixed CDs or MP3 collections of classical music playing softly in the background will enhance the relaxing feeling you wish to create while eliminating offensive lyrics. Compilations of natural sounds might work well in your company as well.

The mood clients carry with them about your business is determined by what they see, smell, and hear. Make them as positive as you can right from the start by using music, light fragrances, canvas prints, and other interior graphics.

How Advertising Consumes Our Life

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Many of the techniques used by advertisers are often criticized by the public, but by and large most of the adult population sees advertising as an open book for anything new. In today’s world you don’t have to make an effort to know about things, the new products themselves come to you. With TV commercials, billboards all over the place and kiosks and shows happening in most busy market areas, advertising has become a normal part of the modern Western society.

Advertising encourages consumerism, as many products are bought by consumers, because they have seen it already in a picture or on the TV screen. But consumerism also means a better economy, because after all the advertiser only wants to sell his products or services, and if he is successful in doing that, his target is achieved. The industry has been criticized by many to promote only consumption and encouraging an economic mass production system. All that the product seller does through advertising is to lure the consumer, and if he gets lured, whose fault is it?

Since advertising has a major social impact on the consumers, especially on children and the teenagers, there must be some amount of transparency in their methods. Parents and educationists complain often about the ill effects of advertising, but they are the ones who can solve the problems by working with educational materials in schools. At home too, parents should explain to their children that advertising is a mere marketing strategy to encourage consumers to use their products. The actual popularity and financial gain of the company is linked to the product itself and not to its publicity alone.

The common complaint of the public is the misuse of advertising. When products and services are advertised, the advertiser should be truthful towards the customer. Haven’t we heard of politicians promising hoards of improvements just before the elections? As soon as he sits on his comfortable political position, he forgets all about his promises that were advertised to get his votes. The same applies to simple products like soap or the new gel pen in the market, but it hits the consumer as he spends his money and believes in the advertisement that he has seen.

Today’s consumer has been used to advertising and hence he treads the path of purchasing products and investing his money in it carefully. Public awareness is important and people often call or enquire from friends before falling into any trap caused by advertising.

The broadcast industry, the tourism industry and the print media rely heavily on advertising and hence in spite of the criticism, no country can lose the revenue that comes in through tourists and conventions. And after all, when a new product is launched, advertising is the only way to make it known to the people. Wouldn’t it be boring to use the same things for years together, without an element of change? Advertisements help to bring in this whiff of fresh air to make the atmosphere more cheerful and meaningful too.

How To Target Your Ideal Clients

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Businesses are all vying for attention at the moment. With people tightening the purse strings, people are a lot more choosy about where they spend it. With less money floating around, companies are struggling to get one up on each other and to entice spenders their way and for those not up to the fight, companies very soon fold. This is a sad state of affairs - that the small businessman cannot ride out the storm without a great deal of fight - but it’s the way of a recession. The best thing to be done is to choose wisely where advertising money is spent so that maximum profit is made from it.

To do this, you need to know your target audience. You need to know exactly what type of person buys your product or service and you need to aim your marketing and advertising towards them rather than to the general audience in the hope that it will reach the right hands. This way, you are much more likely to have success and have a tailored marketing campaign that brings in the sales. But how to find the right people?

The best way to go about this is to find the one place where you know everyone will want what you have to offer - an exhibition. Specialist exhibitions will attract your target audience and, while you may be surrounded by the competition, this is your one chance to shine. Put all your efforts into creating a good exhibition stand design for your product and you are sure to re-coup your outlay for attending the event.

There are exhibitions on throughout the country, throughout the year, so that companies can showcase their business in the best possible way. An exhibition stand design should be created that shows off your company to the max. It should be eye-catching and smart in design to create a favourable impression and draw people in. It should be efficient in advertising your company in a simple but classy way. People want the facts, not the frills. They want to know what it is, how much it costs and why it’s better than everybody else’s.

If you can deliver this, then you are in with a good chance of increasing your sales and making a lot of worthwhile contacts within your specific industry. Of course, your product has to be a genuine, good quality one to begin with - no potential customer wants to feel they are being taken for a fool. If you believe in your product then you are in a good position to sell it.

Ensure that your exhibition stand design is one that is appropriate for your product. If you are selling an item, maybe you could have a display stand and, depending on the size, have a working demonstration. People like tangible things, they don’t want a picture of a product. They want something they can touch, feel and try at the time and this alone can often persuade them into a sale.

If you are selling a service then have all the information you need easily to hand. Have information that potential customers can take away with them. Many people do not want to feel pressured into buying from an exhibition but will go away and think about it. With the right information from your company in their hands they then have the opportunity to come back to you later.

If you are selling a service, then it can be a good idea to use other methods of attracting potential customers to your stand. Maybe your exhibition stand design could include the use of a soft seating area. Exhibitions are tiring events and visitors would welcome a rest area. Once they are sat down and comfortable is your chance to chat them into a friendly conversation and pitch your sales talk to them.

Joe The Plumber Needs To Flush Vague Out Of His Ad Pipeline

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Vague does not work in plumbing ads or any other advertising.

Since he is so much in the news of late, let us use JOE THE PLUMBER to build an example and show the difference between vague selling pointS that rarely get noticed or acted upon and a tangible message that gets attention and is likely to spur action.

Joe decides that his main unique selling point is quick service. After all, no one wants to wait around all day for a plumber (or any trades person) to show up.

Like most small business owners, Joe needs his advertising to generate immediate business. He puts together an ad that reads something like this:

Call Joe the Plumber for Speedy Service
*Trenchless sewer lines
*Water heaters
*Hydro Jetting
*Sewer Inspections by Video
*Drain Cleaning
*Preventative Maintenance
*Free Estimates
222-0000
24 hours - 7 days a week

Joe dresses up the ad with a clever line art graphic that portrays a plumber on the run with a monkey wrench in his right hand.

Is this ad typical? You bet it is. Is this ad effective? No, because it is VAGUE! There is no concrete reason for you to believe that Joe will live up to YOUR expectation of SPEEDY.

The ad that Joe proposes to run does not have to be larger. It does not have to be in color. It certainly should not run more than once!

In short, the ad Joe proposes is pretty much a waste of money. It is because VAGUE is never effective. VAGUE equals FUZZY which means that this ad reads, sounds and looks pretty much like every other plumbing ad.

The words fail to differentiate the services Joe offers from the dozens of other companies touting the exact same thing. SPEEDY probably means something different to Joe than it does to his customers.

What happens when we attach a dollar amount to SPEEDY? Not an amount that will break the bank but one large enough to put some teeth into the message of speedy service.

How about $50! Fifty bucks is a nice round number that makes clear that Joe takes SPEEDY seriously and certainly large enough to get the attention of someone needing the services Joe offers.

Our new headline reads On time or I will pay you $50!

Customers want Joe to show up when he says he will show up (or before). If Joe says 5 p.m. it better be by 5 p.m. or sooner. If not, you pocket fifty bucks!

That wording puts some teeth into ON TIME. We have now made it clear what Joe means by SPEEDY and ON TIME.

If you compare the words in the first ad with those in the revision, you have a good example of the difference between a broad selling point and a concrete message.

The first ad implies speedy but leaves the real definition up to the reader or listener. The revision spells it out and makes it crystal clear. Small changes. Huge difference in perception.

Making the words in your advertising mean something (to your audience) is definitely not brain surgery but it also is not easy to do. You need to think about the message you are trying to convey. You need to become your prospect. You need to role play in your mind.

Share your message with a friend or family member and ask them to tell you what they think it means. If they cannot or if their interpretation does not match up with yours, chances are your words are too vague to be effective.

Go back to the drawing board and put some meat on the bone.

SEO Proves the Most Successful with Web Directories

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Signing-up to on-line web directories is an essential step to getting noticed on the web. As a small or medium sized business owner you are spending top dollars on advertising for your company. Now it’s time to save a bundle by having online search engines do the work for you at a much reduced rate. Over time this has a profound effect, and the immediate effect is pretty good too.

SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a method of getting your website and business name to be recognized in the top pages of search engines such as Google, Yahoo, MSN, Ask etc. By signing up for web directories, you will receive an added link for your website. This is important, as one of the main things search engines look for is how many links are directed to your website, and whether or not those links are on pages that are relevant to your website content.

For example, if you run a website that provides lottery results, you’ll want to make sure you have lots of links to your site on other websites that also mention lottery results.

One of the best features of online lottery results pages is the ability to customize your pages based on your favorite game to play. All you have to do is sign up for free and select which of the games you want to view as soon as you sign in. What will happen is, the numbers of the results of your of favorite games will appear immediately before you check out any other stats you are interested in seeing. Another nice little feature is the top ten international lottery results, so you can see what the biggest and most famous jackpots are and how they grow

Part of the process is determining how well ranked the directory that you are placing your companies name is on. The better the page rank of the web directory, the better ranked your link on those sites will be. So the more high ranked pages that you find to place your link on, the better your position will be for the search engine results.

You also need to make sure the directory will place your link in the proper category, so that the link is in a page that is relevant to the content of your website. So, back to the previous example, you’d want to make sure your website is in the “lottery” or “lottery results” category.

Natural search engine results are free advertising, and using web directories can boos t your rank there. If you get yourself at the top pages, your revenue will increase exponentially. With time, your site will garner you hundreds more in revenues simply for having your link on well-ranked directories. Sign up for a web directory and start getting your site and business the notoriety it deserves.

Robert Burko is the President of Elite Answers, the complete web directory used by small and medium sized businesses around the world. You can also check our comprehensive lottery results portal. Start harnessing the power of web directories today!

Are You A Business That is Interested In Advertising In Another Language?

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Those of us that own businesses online realize that all sorts of people can visit your website at any given day or time, be they from India, Rome, Arabia or Brazil. Obviously unless you know something I don’t, then you will need to advertise your business through ads and marketing campaigns in order to reach more and more people around the world. Hey, if your content on getting just people from the language and country you advertise in, that’s fine. But just so you know, you could be missing out an entire market full of people from all sorts of other countries that speak all sorts of different languages.

Ultimately if you don’t want to build your business and become successful, then you won’t want to use this idea. However, if you do want to build your business to an all-time high and you do want to become incredibly successful at what you do then you will use this idea! One of the first things that came to mind for me, when I realized I wanted to advance my business in the Japanese culture was that I didn’t speak Japanese, and not only that but, I didn’t know anyone that spoke Japanese as well!

Asia is second place when it comes to the number of people who have Internet usage world-wide, so this is a country I definitely wanted to dig into, even more Japan is second place (after China) to have the most people who use the Internet. In order to translate my ads into Japanese I was either going to need to learn their language really quick or else I was really out of luck!

I really wanted this so I decided to search online for translation services. Now I already was well-aware of the free translation service but, I also was aware of the poor quality, so I knew I needed something better, quicker, and easier! I decide to visit a few paid services and ask a few questions about their service, what they could do for me and how much it would cost me. In the end, I sent them all my ad campaigns and other marketing promotions and they really did an awesome job of translating it from English into Japanese!

I can honestly say it was well-worth it because my profits have sky rocketed through the roof. Eventually I want to start using some other countries as well but for now the Japanese market is keep me pretty darn busy! These paid inclusions are the best type of services I have ever used and it really was easy and quick! Really, what more could you want from a company?

Classified Ad Tips For Selling Your Boat Online

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

The Internet is a great resource for selling, and buying, just about anything you can think of. This is why online classified ad sites have grown so rapidly in popularity. When you are preparing to sell your boat, there are some important things you must do, and some important tips to keep in mind, and this article will help you to make the most out of your next boat sale.

Writing An Effective Classified Ad
Whether you are selling a car, house, boat, or your old, ugly couch that even your dog refuses to sit on, there are some basic rules to follow. The first one is to describe your boat in the most concise method possible. Do not say, in the text of your online classified ad This boat is a great boat. Its blue and white and it seats two people, and I like to take it on fishing trips. . . you get the idea, right? Here is what a sample online classified ad should look like

Boat for sale
General description of your boat could be: Ex Gently used, immaculately kept boat manufacture year and name fishing boat for sale. Describe the features of your boat, as well as the color. Describe any minor problems that your boat has, or, better yet, emphasize its good condition. If your boat is in need of major repair, you should mention this as well, and reduce the price accordingly Price that you would like to get for the sale of your boat. If you are willing to negotiate, say something like OBO or best offer

Preparing Your Boat For Viewing
You should plan on taking your boat in for servicing before potential buyers, drawn by your well-written classified ad, start arriving at your virtual doorstep. This is also the time to do any minor repainting and other cosmetic types of improvements.

Interviewing Potential Buyers
This is dependent on the emotional and financial investment that you have made in your boat. If you are a boating enthusiast, then you may feel the need to be extra picky in terms of whom you allow to purchase your boat. If, on the other hand, you would prefer a quick sale and/or are eager to move on to bigger and better boats, you will probably be willing to hand the title over to the first person who shows up with cash in hand. Remember to write them a receipt, and keep a copy for yourself, just in case. You should also inspect the boat with the buyer, noting any damages in writing, and making sure that you have the buyer sign and date a statement of said damages, since this will protect you in the event that your buyer experiences what is known as buyers remorse.

Tips For Successful Online Classified Ads

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Online classified ads are the modern equivalent of print newspaper ads, and are used in the same capacity, for everything from selling a litter of puppies to advertising a job opening. Of course, the success of an ad is dependent solely on the skills of the person writing it, and with that in mind, this article will answer some of the most frequently asked questions, or FAQ about writing and posting classified ads that sell.

FAQ: Why is no one viewing my ad?

Answer: There are many reasons for this. First, you may have placed your ad in the wrong category, an easy mistake to make, considering that categories are often similarly labeled. If this is not the case, consider revising the title of your ad. Instead of a dog for sale, for example, add something interesting to the title, like a Well-trained, family dog for sale.

FAQ: Many people are viewing my ad, but no one has contacted me. Why?

Answer: Assuming that you have included the relevant and necessary contact information within your ad, the problem may be the wording within the body of the ad. The title may attract attention, but the content of the ad is crucial for an actual sale. Be sure to focus on the positive details of the product that you are selling, even if it is a used item with a few cosmetic flaws. Gently used, or even ready for renovation, are good descriptions to include.

FAQ: Im still not sure how to write a great title, where should I begin?

Answer: Good titles need both an action and a statement. An action is a description of the ad itself, telling the reader what the ad contains. For Sale, is the most common type of action. The statement is an additional description of the product, for example, elegant antique, cherry wood dining table. So, For SaleElegant, Cherry Wood Dining Table, becomes the title that attracts the readers attention, and holds their interest throughout the reading of the rest of the ad.

When writing an ad, remember to always include proper contact information, full pricing, including shipping costs, and a photo whenever possible. Avoid irrelevant statements in your ad copy, like this table has been the centerpiece of all of our family gatherings, and we hate to sell it but we have to because my grandmother is moving in with us and she never liked this table. . . This is an extreme example, but the point is clear, buyers arent interested in how much you like the item or why you have to sell it, only whether or not they themselves may want to purchase it.

Digital Signage: Retaking Control of Advertising Really Matters

Wednesday, November 12th, 2008

A report published in late August by media industry analysis Screen Digest forecasts digital out-of-home revenue will quadruple in Western Europe over the next five years and by 2012 will account for 10 percent of all out-of-home revenue.

The report “Digital Signage in Europe: opportunities for digital out-of-home advertising,” points out that net revenue generated from digital out-of-home advertising in Western Europe on digital signage networks in airports, train stations, supermarkets, hotels and other public spaces will grow from about $200 million in 2007 to more than $781 million in 2012, or a compound annual growth rate of 32 percent. In fact, the report foresees that the out-of-home advertising sector, driven by the migration to digital technologies, will be the only traditional advertising media to experience real revenue growth over the next five years in Western Europe.

While the report is confined to forecasts for Western Europe, it is noteworthy because it illustrates the increasing prominence of digital signage networks as a legitimate advertising medium–good news for marketers grappling to understand how best to take advantage of changing media usage patterns among consumers.

As technologies like DVRs encroach on traditional television viewing patterns, more and more newspaper readers let their subscriptions lapse, and the public turns in ever greater numbers to the Web for news and entertainment, tried-and-true media strategies are becoming less effective. Marketers are being confronted with how best to reach potential buyers in a media environment that’s rapidly developing into something that’s far more active than passive, more user-centric and friendly than media-centered.

Digital out-of-home advertising on digital signage networks gives marketers the opportunity to reach potential customers at or very near the point they make their actual buying decisions without giving the shopper the opportunity to zap past their messaging or browse to something of their own liking. To the degree shoppers in a retail store are inclined to linger near racks or shelves of merchandise, for example, they become a captive audience–without a remote. To the degree commuters stand on a platform waiting for their subway train to arrive, they’re a captive audience–without a remote. To the degree those waiting for their cars to be repaired sit in a waiting room, they’re a captive audience–once again without a remote.

Not to belabor the point, but it should be clear that one of the key elements digital out-of-home advertising reintroduces into the marketer-audience equation is a significant amount of control. Certainly, it’s akin to the level of control over messaging in the traditional TV viewing experience. No marketer could force a viewer to watch an ad, but it took a little bit of effort on the part of a viewer to escape it.

Without question, digital out-of-home advertising on digital signage networks offer a number of other benefits, such as the ability to organize messaging around a desired or known demographic, the ability to quantify audiences and develop a cost-per-thousand or cost-per-million type of rate structure, the ability to daypart messaging and many others. But the fundamental advantage this form of advertising brings to marketers is an element of control and a degree of confidence that the viewers of their messaging won’t simply zap or browse away from their advertising.

Some Simple Ideas For Running Ads That Get Results

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

People do not pay attention to advertising. They only pay attention to whatever interests them. If someone perceives a benefit in your advertisement, you might connect with them . . . get them to act. No benefit, no action. Seems simple. The facts say otherwise.

The reality most often missed in advertising is the fact that people buy benefits (what is in it for them), rarely features (what it is or does). Grab any publication in reach and take a quick look at the advertisements: chock full of features and almost devoid of benefits. Some examples:

*People do not buy patio heaters. They buy the opportunity to bring the comforts of the indoors to their outdoor patios.

*People do not buy wine racks. People buy the conversion of their storage space into an onsite wine cellar.

*Generation Y does not buy mobile telephones. They buy 1,000 tunes in their pocket.

Why is this concept seemingly so difficult? Advertising benefits must be complicated because virtually every ad you see has so few, if any. Most small businesses have proved that they can identify features (who you are, what you do, what it is, what it does, etc.) Fair enough! You can start there.

List every feature you can think of about your product or service in the first of two columns on a single sheet. Now answer SO WHAT? for every feature you list. The SO WHAT? is a benefit!

Narrow your list to two or three. Promote those two or three. Advertise the same two or three again. Then again. Tell your target audience what is in it for them to do business with you.

Remember to motivate your audience to DO SOMETHING: come in for a demonstration, call for an appointment, fill in a coupon, write for additional information, ask for you or your product by name, take a test drive . . . something specific. Tell people exactly what you want them to do. Never assume they will do what you think is obvious. Tell them! Do not just suggest. Tell! Order! Command!

Knock yourself out to make sure your message is aimed at the people you want to do business with. Take careful aim and then remember that no one consciously will pay any attention to your ad. You live, breathe and eat your business. The people you deal with do not. No doubt you know what you are talking about. Be sure your desired audience gets the message.

If you manage to stimulate interest with a benefit headline, do not blow it by listing only features and prices in the copy that follows. Headlines attract attention, copy closes the sale . . . or least initiates the action. Always sell the sizzle . . . never the steak!

An effective ad is one that gets results. Steer clear of creating ads that come off more interesting than the content IN the ads. We have all seen or heard advertisements that we remember but for the life of us, we cannot recall what the featured product or service was.

If you want to entertain people, that is your call, but never forget that the sole purpose of small business ads is to persuade people to take some kind of action . . . preferably with or from you . . . hopefully today . . . certainly soon.

Once you have a rough or a finished version of your advertisement, show it to ten people and ask them to tell you what they think the main point is. If one person misunderstands, that means 10 percent of your target audience will misunderstand.

If your media rep says that you should expect your ad to be seen or heard by 500 people, 50 of them will miss the main point. That is unacceptable. Scrap it and start again.

How To Increase Traffic To Your Home Business Opportunity

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

As with everything in business, in order to have success with a home business opportunity you must have the customers. In order to have customers, you have to have a high amount of traffic coming to your site. While this can be one of the most difficult facets to achieve online, there are several things you can do to increase your traffic volume.

Perhaps the most effective way to increase your traffic volume is to post in forums. There are a number of advantages to posting in forums over other marketing techniques. First of all, there is no charge to post in most forums. You can increase your sales drastically without spending a penny on marketing.

Second, there are thousands of forums to choose from on the internet. The benefit to this is you can promote your site to people who are interested in the niche your business is in. You can market to a targeted group of people, which is not always easy to find.

Lastly, you have the opportunity to get out and interact with potential customers. When you pay for a banner or pay for a spot on the search engines, people are just seeing your site. When you get out and socialize, people learn about your business and get any questions answered that they may have.

Article writing can be another effective free way to increase traffic to your home business opportunity. Regardless of what web site someone has, they always need quality content. In order to get ideas, there are a number of people that go to article directories to see what is out there. By writing articles, you can display your knowledge and expertise on the niche. In addition, people can find themselves on your site by following the link you place in the resource box at the end of the article.

Another great way to increase your traffic is through link exchanges. Link exchanges consist of you trading your link for someone elses link. You are agreeing to place their link somewhere on your site for them placing your link on theirs. Then, the hope is people on their site will find themselves on your site through the link to you traded. The key to make this work, though, is to only trade links with people who have a page rank that is equal to or greater than yours. This is because they probably generate just as much or more traffic than your site does.

The more traffic your home business opportunity generates the better. These are just a few of the ways you can go about increasing the traffic volume to your web site.

Color Brochure: Because Visuals Can Mean Everything

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Let us face it, a lot of people are suckers for good visuals. Imagine a lecture that makes use of black and white visuals, and compare it with one that makes use of visuals that range in a variety of colors. Which lecture do you think will have a better chance of being paid attention to? It will most likely be the lecture that makes use of colorful visuals. Having something colorful to look at is infinitely more attention-grabbing than mere black and white. And with technology enabling us to produce texts and images in full color more easily today, it is no wonder why more and more business companies use the trick of full color printing in their advertising documents to entice customers in.

Indeed, documents printed in full color can be an asset to businesses, especially when they pertain to customers. Full color printing can be used in many different kinds of documents, and brochures are one of them. You have probably encountered brochures more than once in your life. Brochures are those documents that are handed to you for free which contains information about a particular companys specific products or services. Usually, the information serves as an advertisement see the benefits and good attributes of a particular product so that they may be enticed to buy it.

If you look back on a number of brochures you have received, you would probably remember a time or two that you did not bother going through the brochure you have received. Maybe you forgot about it, or maybe the presentation just was not that interesting. You would also probably remember a brochure that you did browse through or even picked something in that brochure to cater to. Perhaps that was because the brochure was more cleverly and creatively presented.

A color brochure can certainly add appeal and catch interest from target customers. Remember that before they read something, they have to look at it first. A brochure in full color makes the document look lively and interesting and would surely be eye-catching. Customers would then want to read what it says. For companies hoping to bring in more customers, brochures are important. Brochures are a way for customers to know what a particular company is offering and to lure them into buying these offers. Since full color brochures is a high cause for customer readership, the right use and presentation of it would mean profits for the company.

The advantage of a full-color brochure lies in enhancing the identity of a company. Unlike with black and white, a full color brochure enables the company to experiment with graphics without worrying if the people would understand or make out what it is because it is printed exactly as how they would see it in real life.

Of course, full color brochures do not merely rely on the ability of the colors alone to draw in attention. For what good is it to catch the attention of a person if you can not sustain it long enough for him to get the message you are trying to convey. The full color brochure should be colorful enough to garb attention but substantial and presentable enough to sustain it. Having full color brochures means giving more emphasis on the printing quality simply because full color in low quality is not as attractive. It needs the right technological materials and considerable skill on the artists part.

By making sure that your full color brochure is all that it is expected to be, it will never fail to bring in customers or clients.

Why Use A Letterhead?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

A letterhead does not only represent a company but shows professionalism on correspondents made in the name of a company. A blank paper is bare and an important document printed on it lacks the seriousness of the correspondence. Instead of looking like an application letter or personal letter, a letterhead shows an importance and urgency to whatever is written on a paper.

A simple design and arrangement of the company name, the logo and other important information is placed at the top of the page. The logo should be the same as all the logos that represents the company. It should be uniform and not changed any time the company feels like it. The fonts used for the company name should also be the same as the company billboards, or other items that has the company name on it.

Remember that any written document from the company should come from the company only. The letterhead is an evidence of that. It is the extension of the company’s reputation and business in the form of papers, envelopes, brochures, etc. Company papers should not be used for just anything. It should be used only for business purposes. Anything written on it will reflect the involvement of the company and the people who works there.

As agreed there should only be one plate made if it is for mass printing on a specific size of paper. Which follows that only one plate is made for other sizes like envelopes, notepads and such. This will assure that the same measurement and distance are printed on the paper and will not be different from one another. The paper should also be of best quality. It does not have to be very expensive as long as the quality is good. There are a lot of inexpensive quality paper that you can buy, just be consistent as well. Choose one that fits the image you want to project for your company.

Telephone numbers, licensed numbers, branch addresses and other pertinent information should also be correct and not misleading. Once a detail is changed the letterhead should be changed accordingly. It is such a drag when clients call the telephone numbers on the letterhead and no one answers or the telephone number has already been discontinued.

A letterhead shows that your company is serious with your business and is more than willing to assist. It is a silent way of representing your company to clients and would be clients. It serves as an advertisement for the company as well and is known to attract more clients. In fact, letterheads increase the list of clients because it looks so professional and would surely impress them. Design a letterhead now best suit your company.

Matthew Stanton writes an article about Letterhead which will assist you to market information about your business. Simply visit this website at Letterhead

What You Should Know About An Advertising Guide On Facebook

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Have you ever wondered how money is made on social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook? People make money on these websites each day through their advertising services. But is it worth the time and effort it takes to create a banner ad and a link?

That is a question only you can answer. There is no definitive advertising guide that will help you make the money you want through the use of Facebook, yet there are things you can learn about the website.

Facebook is a social networking website devoted to promoting interaction between its members. People use the Facebook application as a way to share stories, find friends or promote a website/store. They do this through blogging and through bulletins found on the Wall within Facebook.

You can post networking news for the world to read through your profile. If you are a small business owner and wish to display your products, then simply upload photos into albums so that visitors and friends can see your merchandise. This may lead them into your store or to your website.

The best advertising guide or advice you can use will come from business experts. The key is getting an ad that attracts attention and makes people want to visit your website.

If you have ever been on Facebook or MySpace, then you have seen the ads that are strewn across the top of the profiles or to the sides. These are designed to catch your attention and hopefully make a purchase. Haven’t you always wanted to win a free ringtone?

Often times, we hear about merger news about Facebook being acquired by a large company, such as Google or Yahoo. As of yet this has not occurred and if founder Mike Zuckerberg has anything to say about it, it will not be happening anytime soon. This means that for now your advertising services are still in need.

When you advertise through a banner ad, Facebook gets a portion of the sale. It is this portion that allows Facebook to remain free to the public. It will stay free as long as there is daily advertising by companies and businesses that want to put their banner ads onto the site.

As mentioned above, media facts are not always correct. Everyone posts stories about how Facebook is failing to generate enough money to keep operating. They say that it will eventually be totally eclipsed by social networking giant MySpace.

You cannot heed all of these news stories if you are trying to create a business with Facebook. Any advertising guide will tell you to research the facts but it still takes some luck to make it all work.

A free gift awaits you at our portal site, where you can enrich your knowledge further about a facebook advertising guide. Your comment is much appreciated at our face book com blog.

6 Steps For Collecting Testimonials That Aren’t Stupid

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

My friend Sam is designing a new web site, and in reviewing available content I noticed there were no testimonials.

Sam told me he never bothered collecting testimonials since he always thought they were “stupid”. He claimed that reading testimonials never inspired him to make a purchase since they always sounded like they were made up anyway.

I’m a firm believer in using testimonials on your web site. Done correctly, testimonials should:

provide social proof - the credibility that your prospect needs to feel comfortable purchasing from you

position you as the expert, leaving you as the only choice for the product or service your prospect is looking for

answer any questions that your prospect has floating around in his head - even though he won’t come out and ask you, he does have questions

The problem many web site owners have with testimonials - the reason Sam didn’t want to use them on his site - is that most people go about the process in the wrong way.

Once Sam decided to include testimonials on his new web site, I knew he would have to create a “testimonial collection plan.”

Testimonial collection plans help to compile inspiring, effective testimonials that motivate site visitors to make a purchase.

This plan is easily adapted to your own web site endeavors:

Step 1
Compile a list of current and past clients that you would like to have testimonials from. Most small business owners simply choose their “high ticket” customers or the customers they are currently working with.

Review your clients and judiciously choose the ones you want to duplicate. Sam based his decision on the industries he most wanted to work with, the size of the company he preferred, the corporate culture he felt comfortable with, etc.

Many prospects are stirred by testimonials from people who are “just like them”. Be sure to stir the prospects who you most want to target.

Step 2
Go through your initial list and ask “What specific, quantitative benefit did I bring to this particular client?”

What is the purpose of this step? Testimonials are more effective when they’re specific. It’s OK to guide your customers in providing specific testimonials, so generate some ideas for steering your customers toward specifics.

Step 3
The third step is to generate a list of questions that the clients can respond to. When formulating your questions, keep your quantitative benefits from step 2 in mind.

You can craft different questions for each of your customers, and the logical answer for each of the questions points to the benefit that you originally identified.

For instance, if you know your product saved the ABC Company considerable downtime on the production floor, your question could be “How many man hours were you able to recoup with the Super Duper Luper Widget?”

Never use a question that could be answered with a simple yes or no. And keep in mind that some of your “guided answers” might require multiple questions.

Make it as easy as possible on your customer - don’t make him think or do the math. Here are a few ideas you can use to craft your own questions:

Prior to using the Super Duper Luper Widget, how much money were you spending each month on qizmoshmaltzkies? After using the widget, how much were you spending?

What problem were you experiencing that made you contact our company?

What results have you seen on your bottom line after putting the widget into use?

What was your income/sales/profitability prior to contracting with Sam’s Service? What is your income/sales/profitability level now?

What is the most important thing you learned from working with our company?

What single feature of the Super Duper Luper Widget has made the most impact on your business?

What aspect of our company were you most pleasantly surprised about?

Why would you recommend the Super Duper Luper Widget to other xyz manufacturers?

Step 4
Once you receive the responses you will have to edit them. You want each of the testimonials to be specific, brief and persuasive.

So take out any of the information that other prospects wouldn’t care about. Replace industry jargon with universal terms that all prospects could understand. And swap out a few of the generic words with strong, convincing power words.

Step 5
The next step is to run the newly revamped testimonial by the customer to make sure it has approval. You can do this the easy way - simply call each of the customers.

But rather than saying “Your testimonial wasn’t good enough…” start your conversation with “We loved the feedback you gave us about our company! Thank you so much.

Unfortunately, we don’t have room to reprint it word for word. Do you mind if we paraphrase it like this instead…”

Step 6
The final step is to plaster the testimonials all over your web site. Use them as headlines, in the sidebars, and even in your new email marketing campaigns.

I can’t say that testimonials are the only way to make your sales skyrocket. But they are definitely a good starting point, and an easy step for you to add to your marketing strategy.

Tools And Ideas To Start Advertising Online Revealed

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

When you have an idea for selling a product, you always have to think of what is the best way to go about advertising it. How will you know if people are seeing what you have for sale, the only way to go about this is to advertise. With online promotion you are able to reach a much larger audience than any other way you go about.

You will reach the world if you are promoting something online. You will get millions and billions of customers that can potentially purchase your product. But first they must know it’s out there and they need to know how to get to it.

A great way of advertising is those little banners that you see all the time, they pop up on tons of sites and they are an ad for something or another. Get one of these and find several websites to place them on, it will cost you some money, depending on how many sites you want it on. But you have to remember the more your banners are out there the more people will learn of your product and possibly want to buy it.

So you have a bunch of banner’s up on about 50 sites to start with, try to go to sites that are related to the product you are trying to sell. This will match the people up with your product better and you will get people coming to your site that are looking for what you are selling. This is very important, because if you put banners in the wrong places they won’t help you out much, if at all.

As you can tell you will need to set up either a website or a store on an auction site. Either will be fairly simple, most of the process is spelled out and very easy to follow. But one thing you will need to be sure of is how you go about showing your product on the website. You will need to have pictures and you will have to make sure that the pictures are clear and people can tell what you are selling.

Pictures are a big point to make sure that you have, because a lot of people will not purchase something without first seeing it. It’s a simple thing, everyone wants to know what they are getting before it comes in the mail and is something completely different from what the ad said.

With more banner’s you will attract more people to your site, and with more sales you will have more people aware of your site and telling their friends. This will be a big thing for you as a business owner, so you must always make sure that your customer service is good. Certain things will make or break a deal and you don’t want it to be something small like not answering a question that was asked about a product. It would be a shame to lose a sale for such a simple reason.

Internet Advertising Made Easy

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

About the only way that you will sell something is if you advertise it. You have several different ways to go about advertising. You can do a simple little flyer on a sheet of paper that you write up, or if you want it to look a bit more professional use a computer and make a very nice looking flyer for your product or if you have a store.

The next thing is how much is your budget you have available to spend on advertising. If you don’t have much the hand printed flyers and computer generated flyers are going to probably be about all that you will get. You may want to check with those websites where people can get free websites, and do two things one set up your own website with an advertisement for the items you are selling and or the store that you have open for people to get stuff from.

You may also want to talk to that website and see if someone for a fee you would be able to put your ad on other people’s websites. This would be great advertising. You can also look into a banner on certain websites, depending on the size and how fancy they are will be how much the advertisement will cost you.

When advertising the best way to get more business is to get your product noticed and purchased even by a few people. Once those people buy your item or items and if they love it you know that they will go and tell all their friends about this great purchase they got and they will send them to your website and hopefully their friends will buy more.

Word of mouth advertising is the best around it’s a way that a business can be made or broke. Once you have a few people who are in love with the stuff you have for sale you’ll get more sales, and they will surely talk in at least one or two of their friends to come and buy something too, those two friends will do the same thing. You can see how word of mouth works great and the best thing about this sort of advertising is that it is completely free of charge to you. How can you beat that you product will be known and maybe it will snowball into a huge thing for you!

Check out Karl Sultana’s search engine optimization (SEO)tools. The seo strategies you discover can help you get high rankings for practically any keyword you desire.

Startup Advertising Techniques Revealed

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

A great way for you to go about advertising for a product that you have for sale is to get to one of those websites that will allow you to set up a free website. This will allow you to show the product and talk about it. Of course you’re going to want to have some great pictures of your product and a nice write up on the detail of what the product is and what shape it is in.

All of these will either attract a person to your item, or make them shy away from it. One of the easiest ways to get someone to not look at your product is to have no picture. Because you may say the item is in great shape, but it may truly only be in fair shape. So with a picture they will be able to tell how the product actually looks.

It’s amazing how you can advertise your own website; you will need to get some great keywords that will pull up the site when a search engine site is pulled up. If you land within the top five you should be able to get people going to your website and hopefully being impressed by the pictures and descriptions you have up.

Once you get at least a few sales it will help you out because a lot of these people will go and tell their friends all about the products that you have for sale. With this happening you get the great advertising of word of mouth, which is completely free, and has made several businesses in the past. So hope for those people to really like what you are selling and that your keywords are getting your advertisement website out there plenty times.

Already remember this kiss principle, don’t get it right get it going. Sometimes we learn more from our mistakes than from our successes. In Internet business you will learn most from your mentor and your failures.

If you want to you can hire someone who is use to making this happen for several other websites, it just really depends on how much you were looking to spend in advertising. If you don’t have a lot to start with make small steps and build up to the larger steps that may have you well on the way to a very profitable website that is known by people all over the world and not just in your little local location. So get out there and try your hand at some advertising and selling. Good luck in your future!

When can I take the jewelry out?
Most of the jewelry we sell is imported from various places around the world including various parts of India, middle-east and far east. All jewelry ordered from Jewelry Island Style & More should be cleaned with a soft cloth and warm soapy water only. The piercing goes through several stages of healing.

When can I change or remove the jewelry?
The piercing goes through several stages of healing. During the initial healing period, the scar tissue is quite weak (30% strength of normal skin). If you remove the jewelry the hole will close up and if you try to take the jewelry in and out to hide the piercing, you will damage the wound causing inflammation and most probably an infection. Once the healing phase is completed the maturation phase begins, the scar must mature until it has full strength (app. 80% at 2 months). We at Body Jewelry & Fashion Accessories are committed to bringing you the highest quality materials and workmanship.

Is your jewelry safe to use in my piercings?
We at Body Jewelry & Fashion Accessories are committed to bringing you the highest quality materials and workmanship. Our piercing jewelry is manufactured using implant grade metals. Our Steel body jewelry is made from the finest 316LVM Surgical Stainless Steel, our Titanium Jewelry is non-allergenic Anodized 6AL4V-ELi Titanium, our Solid 14Kt Gold Jewelry is Nickel Free14KT, 925 Sterling Silver, and our Acrylic Body Jewelry is dental grade. It really depends on alot of variables as to how long it takes a piercing will take to shrink to the point that reinsertng jewelry is problematic. In general, the following factors will tend to decrease the amount of time that you can safely leave the jewelry out of your piercing: The larger the actual length of the piercing itself, the shorter the time it can be safely left without jewelry.

What if my jewelry breaks?
If your jewelry breaks within the first 60 days we will repair it for free and reship. If after 60 days your jewelry should break, there is a $5.00 fee per strand for repairs. Place all of the pieces along with the original sales receipt in a padded envelope and mail it with payment (if applicable) to Jewelry Island Style & More, 1130 Camp St. Platteville, WI 53181.There are two steps in the healing process. The first step seals the piercing and stops the risk of the piercing becoming infected. The second step takes considerably longer for the piercing to fully heal. During this second step, the jewelry can be removed for short periods of time, but the hole will shrink down as soon as the jewelry is removed. The time it takes to shrink down to the point you cannot reinsert the jewelry will vary upon gauge and how old the piercing is.

How long can I leave the jewelry out before it closes?
There are great many questions which people have about piercing and there are many misconceptions and horror stories also. All the information presented, comes from extensive medical research. Yes, but the pain is minimal if performed by an experienced Body Piercer. You may wear jewelry, depending on the assigned trade. Facial piercings, i.e. tongue or eyebrow studs, are not allowed during the training day. Hoop earrings, if considered a safety hazard, may be restricted depending on trade requirements. You may wear jewelry, depending on the assigned trade. Facial piercings, i.

When is it safe to change my piercing jewelry?
The rate at which your body piercing heals varies greatly from person to person. Some piercings can take up to a year to heal properly. Even after the piercing has healed, reinsertion can be difficult and sometimes impossible. You should not change your body jewelry during the initial healing period. The initial piercing healing time is usually about 2-5 months. Be sure to always wear appropriate jewelry in your piercings, even when fully healed. You may wear jewelry, depending on the assigned trade. Facial piercings, i.e. tongue or eyebrow studs, are not allowed during the training day.

New Bluetooth and Wireless Technology Has the Potential to Change the Face of Advertising

Friday, October 24th, 2008

In our world of ever-changing technology, we are constantly bombarded by names like Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and TIVO. Our nation is one of consistently evolving electronics and in the rush to move forward, some get left behind. One such trailing entity is the advertising industry. The increasing inclusion of TIVO and DVR’s in American households is causing some consternation among marketing executives. Companies like Ace Marketing & Promotions may have the solution to the advertising industry’s current conundrum.

One problem companies have is the inability to continue advertising their products or services through traditional means, such as television and radio. Digital recording devices allow home consumers to skip past commercials, which, as you can imagine, creates a problem for those who advertise through those same commercials. A similar issue took root with radio several years ago as more and more stations were made available. Now, listeners only have to press a button to move on to another station, sans advertisement.

Technology companies like Ace Marketing & Promotions (AMKT), a Valley Stream, New York publicly traded company has developed amazing systems that can answer some of these rising concerns. For example, the Blue Bite proximity marketing system utilizes Bluetooth and wireless technology to market directly to consumer’s phones, laptops, and PDAs. The system works with over 950 mobile devices, from virtually every manufacturer, which guarantees the largest possible audience. It supports all of the most popular models, including the Apple iPhone, the Blackberry Pearl, and the Palm Treo.

Systems like Blue Bite allows information to be sent whether it be images, video, and audio, directly to a consumer’s electronic device that comes within the range of the broadcasting unit. Because it is transmitted via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and not over a wireless telephone network, it is completely free to the consumer. These types of marketing systems are FCC compliant and not considered spam advertising. They will simply receive a text, video, or audio message with the client’s advertisement or marketing offer.

Just imagine going to a concert and your favorite band or artist tells you how much they appreciate you, their fan, and that you will be receiving something special from them on your mobile phone. Seconds later, you receive a message describing how to download a free wallpaper or song from your favorite band. Maybe you’re walking down the street in New York’s Time Square and you notice a billboard for a new television show. Seconds later, your cell phone receives a message letting you know that there is a free 15-second preview of that show available to watch on your mobile device. The direct marketing potential is seemingly limitless.

The system that Ace Marketing & Promotions has already completed successful marketing campaigns for several major entities, such as the Canada Tourism Commission, BBC, CW, and Turner Classic Movies (TCM). Shows and movies have included The Bourne Conspiracy, Gossip Girl, Life is Wild, and Robin Hood.

One of the greatest things about this technology is that the world has only begun to see the potential of it. The number of possible venues would seem to be limitless. Shopping malls, movie theatres, airports, museums, subways, and sporting events are just a few of the target locations that are perfectly poised to fully utilize the capabilities of this type of marketing system.

Rodney Marvel is the Director of Operations for e-media Direct, a full-service investor relations firm located in Winter Park, FL. He has worked with about 100 publicly-traded companies on various projects.

Music, art and drama are an integral part of our curriculum. Our students meet twice a week for music and have art experiences twice a week or more. All TCA students are also involved in a yearly theatrical production where they experience all aspects of putting on a play. Students have the opportunity to perform in front of the curtain, work backstage, or help with other aspects of the production like costumes, set work, and marketing.Answer: In terms of basic theatrical presentation - cast, chorus, orchestra, sets, lights, costumes and all that stuff - it isn’t. Almost all forms of stage musicals - Grand Opera, Operettas, or Broadway - are love stories.

My doll needs new clothes, can you make them?
I am a trained dressmaker and I used to work at the Royal Opera House making the theatrical costumes. Many people have asked me to make clothes for their dolls and I make whatever they ask for, but I must admit that I do prefer making historically correct clothes. I can supply illustrations of Victorian doll’s clothes which are historically correct for French and German dolls. All you have to do is ask.

What is a drag queen?
Some homosexuals enjoy the theatrical parody of women and are known as ‘drag queens’. The term is believed to have originated with Elizabethan theatre. In those days women were not allowed to perform, so the parts were played by boys or small, slightly men. Female costumes were heavy and were dragged across the stage. No known bio-chemical (biological) cause can be demonstrated to exist.

Information About Lead Generation

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Lead generation (commonly abbreviated as lead-gen) is a marketing term that refers to the creation or generation of prospective consumer interest or inquiry into a business products or services. Often lead generation is associated with marketing activity targeted at generating sales opportunities for a company’s sales force.

Therefore a lead is correctly described as information regarding or provided by a consumer that may be interested in making a purchase. Marketing practice tends to be seen as a creative industry, which includes advertising, distribution and selling. It is also concerned with anticipating the customers future needs and wants, which are often discovered through market research. Web marketing (Search Engine Optimization or other Internet Media buying).

For commodity products, the rendezvous dilemma is one where two parties are seeking each other, but are obscured by time, distance, or attention. In essence there is a set of well-matched candidates for product purchase within a larger set of poorly matched candidates. Those well-matched candidates are what one is seeking to attract or identify in effective lead generation. To meet the increased demand for online lead generation marketing, the number of publishers offering online lead generation programs has grown exponentially over the last year.

Many types of advertising such as direct marketing, online banners and search marketing are deployed for the purpose of lead generation. However, due to large drop-offs in clicks and conversions, these methods are inefficient. Opt-in units are the most common types of advertising utilized by the online lead generation advertising. These are ad formats that enable consumers to explicitly opt-in to an advertiser offer without leaving the website on which the ad was displayed.

This aspect of direct marketing involves an emphasis on trackable, measurable positive (but not negative) responses from consumers (known simply as response in the industry) regardless of medium Lead acquisition is one of the most critical activities within the lead generation process.Identifying or attracting a prospective candidate is an expensive and complex task, which becomes even more so if you do not have mechanisms to capture that information for action.

In 1856 Mathew Brady created the first modern advertisement when he placed an ad in the New York Herald paper offering to produce photographs, ambro types and daguerreotypes. His ads were the first whose typeface and fonts were distinct from the text of the publication and from that of other advertisements At that time all newspaper ads were set in agate and only agate. His use of larger distinctive fonts caused a sensation.Later that same year Robert Bonner ran the first full-page ad in a newspaper.

Broadly, markets can be divided according to a number of general criteria, such as by industry or public versus private sector. Generally segmentation is conducted using demographic, geographic, attitudinal or behavioral data. Small segments are often termed niche markets or specialty markets. However, all segments fall into either consumer or industrial markets. Although industrial market segmentation is quite different from consumer market segmentation, both have similar objectives.

Sales promotions can be directed at either the customer, sales staff, or distribution channel members (such as retailers).Sales promotions targeted at the consumer are called consumer sales promotions. Sales promotions targeted at retailers and wholesale are called trade sales promotions. Some sale promotions, particularly ones with unusual methods, are considered gimmick by many.

Brochure Printing Changed My Life

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I was once wary of brochure printing. I never deal with it let alone create my own brochures. I used to think that it takes so much time and hard work. Time I do not have and hard work I can not afford to spare. I always find it so consuming and head wracking. Imagine, you have to learn to create your own intricate designs. Once you decided on one, most often than not, you want to change it again. You find that any other artwork or color scheme is better than the last one. And not only in that aspect. You spend the same tedious decision making as to what kind of paper to use or what captions or other details to write! My first attempt on brochure making was a disaster. I felt that it was a job for more than one person.

For years I dump the problem to one of my friends or some brochure printing company. It was more expensive and I always end up sending back the brochures for more corrections. It not only caused dirty looks from friends who I happen to give the burden but a lot of money wasted.

One day I decided to give brochure printing another try. I was able to find a good software to aid me with designing my very own brochure. It had quite a number of designs that came with the software and provided the option to edit, append more graphics and allows you to use two per-existing designs at the same time!

I got really interested. I started to learn how to create my own graphics with the help of other softwares and saved those for future use. I bought a stack of different types of paper and printed my designs to see which color schemes are better with which type of paper material. With each try I learned so much and mastered the skill of designing. I tried all kinds of prints, not only with brochures but also with birthday cards, posters, leaflets, business cards, etc. It was really amazing! The one thing that I avoided before taught me everything there is to know about printing and designing.

After I had made sure I was good at it I started offering my services to friends and family. It all started with little things that the kids may want for school, or presentations for the office. I ready accepted whatever challenges the throw at me because I got hooked. Not only am I good at paper printing and brochure printing I got good at designing per se!

Now , as a hobby and a little business, I saved and earned more money than I could imagine. Realizing that I have this talent I enrolled myself in the Arts. Once upon a time I taught myself the basics and it opened up a lot of opportunities. In a way, what started as the simple dilemma of brochure printing opened up doors for my success.

Embroidered Polos: Help Your Customers Remember You Twice

How many times have you been driving and spotted a McDonald’s restaurant. Not because you saw the red and white sign that said “McDonald’s,” but you saw the yellow M, or as it is most commonly known, the “golden arches?” When you go inside to order, all of the employees are dressed in the corporate apparel. This is the power of a company brand. How can your company achieve the golden arches phenomenon? The buying public is accustomed to associating a company with a logo, a brand. But, it doesn’t usually start out that way.

The Embroidered Polos and the Customer for Life

Know Thy Name First: The first step in building a bond with customers is to get your name out there. Customers have to first know you exist by name before they can start associating you with a brand. In fact, when many companies first start out, they have none of the branding factors in place, eg, corporate apparel, custom company shirts with Embroidered Polos, etc.

In the beginning stages, the corporate apparel of many companies may not even have a logo; just the company name and the name of the customer service representative. And this is fine. But, when companies expand, one of the first things they should do is create a company logo. In fact, this is a hallmark of large companies.

This is where the second part of building on the relationship with a customer - company branding. This happens in the form of Embroidered Polos, custom company shirts and maybe even an entire line of corporate apparel and amenities.

Can you think of McDonald’s without thinking of the “M” arch? Or, Starbucks without the sea nymph in the green and white circle? No, of course not. All of their company clothing has this logo. And, this is where the second level of branding comes in - choosing the right logo.

All major companies have logos, and when you see them on embroidered polos, custom company shirts and/or any company clothing, you know you’ve arrived.

Classic Adult Costumes

How do the stage show and film differ?
In the musical, the story occurs in 1881, the movie in 1870 (a historical fallacy, because that means France would’ve been in the middle of a war.) In the movie the ages are all shifted closer to the book. On stage Christine and Raoul are in their 20’s, Phantom in his late 40’s-50’s. In “Think of Me”, the backdrop falls, but it doesn’t actually hit Carlotta, it just frightens her. Almost all of the costumes are different.

Was there a Garbage Pail Kids movie, where can I get it, and what home video formats did it come in?
There was a live-action Garbage Pail Kids movie released back in 1987. The Garbage Pail Kids characters were actors dressed up in costumes that distantly resemble the artwork on the Garbage Pail Kids cards. When I saw the movie, I thought it was horrible, and I do not recommend it. Still, there are plenty of collectors that want to see the movie, and it is somewhat of a cult classic. If your local video store does not carry the movie, you can try searching eBay for it.

The set designs, costumes and the ship itself were painstakingly re-created from numerous written and photographic sources. Captain Smith, Thomas Andrews, Molly Brown, Bruce Ismay, Col. Gracie and others were all real people. The sequence of events from sailing day to rescue is quite accurate.

How accurate was the movie Elizabeth?
A question I dread answering — not very. The portrayal of costumes, customs and the interiors of buildings was absurd. I spied a lady in waiting with a chin length bob, acrylic fingernails on Cate Blanchett, men with razored off “rapper” haircuts. Dress styles spanned decades. The notion that Elizabeth I would have had sex with Robert Dudley in full view of a harem of giggling ladies in waiting is asinine.

Almost Free Ways to Market Your Business Online

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

If you have a website, chances are pretty high that you spend a lot of time looking for ways to market your business online. Paying for advertisements can be quite expensive, and today’s Internet user is so desensitized to online banner ads that advertising in this manner can be highly ineffective. However, there are many ways that you can advertise your business online without paying much or without paying anything at all! You just need to know where to look.

Develop an Online Newsletter

Do you have an online mailing that you send to your customers? If not, you need to develop one. When your customers make a purchase online, have them sign up to receive “future offers” or an informative newsletter. You can also leave a form on your website for them to sign up to receive your newsletter. You may want to offer something free for this, such as a discount code, free tip, or a free gift.

Once you have your customer’s email address, put it to good use. Make your newsletter as good as it can possibly be. If you already have an online mailing in place, make it better. No one likes spam, so make the newsletter informative, helpful, and interesting. Throw in a coupon or two from time to time to keep the customer interested in reading the newsletter. Avoid using too many graphics, as this can keep some users from receiving the letter depending on their spam folder settings.

Become an Expert in Your Industry

Chances are you already are an expert in your industry. Use this to your advantage as you market online. Join forums that relate to your industry. Then, post useful comments. Do this often. Soon you will have a small online “following” that comes to you for advice. You can then point them towards your website for more information.

As you post in forums, make sure you follow the posting guidelines. Some forums will allow you to link to your website in your signature line. Others will allow you to link in actual discussions. Others do not allow any links at all, but may allow you to put a link in your profile. Since your time is valuable, choose forums that allow links, at least in your signature.

No matter what the forum rules may be, make sure that your posts do not sound like an ad. Give genuine, helpful advice to the people on the forum. Become a part of the community. You will be surprised at how much your bottom line increases with this strategy.

You can use this same rule to market using blogs. Comment on blog discussions relating to your industry whenever you can, and make the link take the reader back to your site. You can insert a link in your name field, but do not say, “you can find out more at my site.” That will be a turn off to most readers, but if they like what you have to say they will be willing to click on your name and visit your link.

Create Your Own Blog

As you are working towards making yourself an expert in the field, you might want to set up your own blog. You can discuss newsworthy items that relate to your industry, and you can include a link on the toolbar to your ecommerce site. You can link to your blog in your forum posts and blog comments as well. If you do not have time to write blog posts on a regular basis, you can hire someone else to do it for you.

As you work to create your blog, make sure it is interesting. People who read blogs are looking for entertainment as much as they are looking for information. Do not be afraid to discuss something a little controversial. The more people that link to your blog from theirs, even if they are saying how crazy your idea is, the more traffic you will eventually generate for your ecommerce or business site.

Use YouTube

Believe it or not, the popular video site YouTube is a great way to market a business, and posting a video is completely free. Now, like your forum and blog posts, you do not want to post a blatant advertisement on YouTube. However, you can create an informative “how to” that relates to your industry, and then link to your website at the end of the video.

The key to successful marketing with YouTube is not creating a fancy video full of special effects. It is making a video that is appealing to people. You want people to want to watch your video, email it to their friends, and post it on their blogs. Do not be afraid to do something a little crazy and fun, but make sure that it does not detract from your business.

Use Online Business Directories

Online business directories are another way to market your business online. Keep in mind that there is a wide range of prices for these directories. Some charge high fees for listings, while others have free or low-cost listings available. Choose a directory that gets plenty of traffic but does not charge too much for your link. Make sure you can have some control over what is said in your listing. Also, make sure the directory is well laid out with an easy to understand organizational structure. Remember, your potential customers are not going to stay on a business directory site that is confusing or difficult to navigate.

That being said, list your business in as many free business directories as possible. After all, if the listing is free, it cannot hurt your business, and it will probably draw some traffic to your site. Some of these directories make money off of other types of ads, such as pay per click ads, so they allow businesses to create listings for free.
