POS can meet all your wireless-retailer needs

Wednesday, November 19th, 2008
by Jeff Evers

Point of sale software designed specifically for the wireless-retail business can help meet all of your company’s needs, even at many locations.

Location, location, location. And more locations. It’s one of the trademarks - and challenges - of the wireless-retail business. The unique needs of wireless industry and many point-of-sale (POS) idiosyncrasies can render mainstream retail software obsolete.

But a point of sale (POS) management system specifically designed for the cellular retailer’s day-to-day operations was created for that business, and that business alone.

The real-time, Internet-based program can support anywhere from a single retail location to an unlimited number of retail locations, and manages wireless retailers’ needs - like generating up-to-the-minute reports, as well as tracking inventory, employee hours and sales and commissions.

One of the key components of the wireless-retail business - calculating commissions - is also a key component of the POS software. The POS software for wireless retailers makes real-time commission reconciliations seamless and eliminates costly sales errors.

Equally critical for any retail software is inventory tracking and control. The specialized POS software for cellular retail management offers accurate and easy accounting for equipment in each retail location. Inventory levels remain accurate all the time, because the software tracks inventory movement through purchase orders and invoices, and inventory levels are updated immediately.

Inventory control is another important consideration for the cellular business. Because of that, the POS software for cellular retail management tracks inventory through invoices and purchase orders, so the inventory levels are immediately updated and accurate. This enables users to account for equipment in all locations and eliminates costly sales errors.

And because the cellular retailers’ data is loaded through the Internet, security is a key priority. The POS software is necessarily equipped with a high level of security, rendering the data virtually impossible to tamper with.

Security is offered on many levels, starting with access secured through user authentication and biometric login. Encryption is another of the many was the software is secured. Data is encrypted at the same level used by banks to secure their data. Other controls can limit how much information and access is given to various users - like district managers, subagents and franchisees.

Another critical consideration when considering POS software is technical support. Having the most advanced trainers and best technical-support specialists, and having them available seven days a week, is important to a POS software user - especially for users in a business as demanding as the wireless-retail business.

TeleTracker Inc. was the first company to develop POS software strictly for the cellular communications industry. To learn about the range of software solutions they can offer your business, visit www.teletracker.com or call toll-free, 877-277-6810.

Cell Phones and How We Use Them Today

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

Cell Phone companies such as Nokia and LG Cell Phones have really changed our lives. Mobile phones are more than just a communications device with PDA functionality. They’re a fashion statement, aimed squarely at the young consumer. Some companies concentrate more on the fashion and look of their phones for example LG cell phones are well known for their looks and unique designs. Cell phones are very popular, and they have become affordable for almost anyone. They are all over the place. Everywhere you go, you see and hear people taking calls and engaged in conversations with people in other places. Cell phones are important because they let us keep in touch with our families when we are away from the house, and can be used almost anywhere to make 9-1-1 calls in case of an emergency. Some have games you can play; some let you send email or send instant messages to your friends; and some let you take pictures and send them to people.

Cell phones are an example of the change in the way we communicate. Earlier, everyone had to depend upon landlines. Although we use them almost anywhere there are some places where we should not make or attend our calls for example we should avoid using cell phones in gas stations. Companies such as Motorola, Ericsson, and LG cell phones, all print cautions in their user handbooks that warn against mobile phones in “gas stations, fuel storage sites, and chemical factories”. The threat mobile phones pose to gas stations and their users is primarily the result of their ability to produce sparks that can be generated by the high-powered battery inside the phone.

Cell phones are now doing what PDAs used to do, and people are not using PDAs so much anymore. Or perhaps it should be said that the two are merging together into some sort of hybrid. LG Cell Phones is the leading company here, their phones such as the Viewty is a unique combination of PDA and mobile phone.

Using cell phones while driving is extremely risky. While doing so we not only put ourselves at risk but also everyone around us. According to a recent study, when someone talks on a cell phone while driving, they have the same attention to the road as a person would with a .08 blood-alcohol level. Police don’t allow people to drive drunk, similarly they should not allow people to drive while talking on their cell phones. To overcome this problem cell phone companies such as LG cell phones are now giving free Bluetooth headsets with all of their models.

Apple iPhone A True Gem And Basic Computer?

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

The apple iphone is truly a universal phone that is light years ahead of the competition with its ease of use and versatility.

Personalize your cell phone with Apple iPhone covers, faceplates and Shield Protectors. The Apple iPhone features an innovative multi-touch display that allows for easy navigation of the phone’s features.

The Apple iPhone had been rumored for over 4 years now but the waiting is over. When the original Apple iPhone arrived in June 2007, it was greeted by massive hype and long lines at Apple and O2 stores.

Apple points out that iPhone’s features are unlike a lot other cellphones it can be upgraded in the future through software. Apple also insists corporate e-mail through the phone is safe.

Apple recently raised iPhone battery estimates to up to eight hours of talk time, six hours of Internet use, seven hours of video playback, 24 hours of audio playback and more than 10 days of standby. Apple iPhone accessories include Apple iPhone belt clip cases and holsters for carrying convenience.

Apple wanted to make sure that the public learned thru its videos that the keyboard would be easy to use, and also easier than most other smartphones on the market.

Each owner has effectively signed an End User License Agreement when purchasing an iphone and this says that by modifying or using third-party software on the device you will invalidate or void your warranty.

Two of the chips on this board have Apple logos on them, the larger of the two appears to be the iPhone’s ARM processor manufactured by Samsung.

Email: As previously mentioned you can setup Yahoo, Gmail, and hosted Exchange email accounts on the iPhone. (see who voicemail is from, before you call). You will have no problems sending and receiving email.
Sending an email just requires you to enter an email address manually or get it from one of your contacts. The iPhone also boasts desktop-class email, web browsing, and searching.

Visual Voicemail is nice, but you can also get much of the same experience on any web-enabled phone with GotVoice Visual Voicemail if this is important to you. There is also no dragging and dropping functionality other than the flicking to access or delete in email.

Once you get the hang of its “multitouch” interface
you just give it a few days and you won’t have to keep a separate iPod and cellphone in your pocket. Don’t get us wrong, the iPhone is a lovely device with a sleek interface, top-notch music and video features and innovative design touches.

Depending on what you’re doing, the touchscreen serves as your number keypad, your keyboard, your Safari browser and your music and video player. Video YouTube, yes, iPod games,no. You can watch movies, music videos, podcasts and TV shows synced through iTunes. You can watch the most-viewed streaming videos and search for others.

The process takes only a few minutes, after which you can sync the device with your music, videos, photos, TV shows, calendars, movies, e-mail accounts and Web-browser bookmarks.

Apple wanted to make sure that it got the point out to the public in its videos that the keyboard would be easy to use, and also easier than any other smartphone out today.

The company’s participation in the cell-phone market has been hurt by complaints about the year-old iPhone’s data download speeds, which can make simple tasks like sending pictures over e-mail or downloading Internet videos painfully slow.

It’s easy to find all features, and we like that essential features aren’t buried under random menus.
Apple IPhone receives an overall Top Ten REVIEWS score of 2. the Apple iPhone sets a new benchmark for an integrated phone and MP3 player. Compare prices and stores and find the best deal on Apple iPhone phones and accessories.

Compare Cell Phone Plans Before You Add Your Teen

Tuesday, November 18th, 2008

If you are the parent of at least one teenager, you have undoubtedly been asked when you are going to buy them a cell phone. I have two sons. The oldest just became a freshman in high school. He has never been shy about asking for anything, so we have been peppered for months with the question: When can I have a cell phone? As you well know, teenagers can be very persistent. We finally caved. And speaking from experience, may I strongly suggest you compare cell phone plans before you add your teenager to your plan.

I do not text very often. In fact, I think the only time I have ever texted anyone is simply to reply to their original text message. My wife is the same way, but boy can she use up those cell phone minutes (but I digress). It turns out, however, that my son is a texting monster. He and his friends can be right next to each other, and they will still text each other instead of just talking. And trust me, it is not because my son is shy.

Your teenager, if left unmonitored, can easily send and receive over a 1000 text messages in the first month. No kidding. My advice: make sure you know the costs of texting when you compare cell phone plans. You may pay a little extra for unlimited texting, but not only will you not have any overage charges, you will also sleep better at night knowing you have limited your costs to that one monthly charge. In fact, our son agreed to pay for unlimited texting out of his own money.

Obviously the number of cell phone minutes allowed will be a key focus as you compare cell phone plans. Know the tendencies and schedule of your child. If he or she is home alone for any length of time, you can be sure the phone will be in use. Free nights and weekend minutes are almost mandatory. If the phone is mostly for pleasure use, rather than because you really need them to have a phone during the day so they can contact you, then you might consider only allowing access to the phone during certain non-peak hours. I realize this is easier said than done.

Be aware of web access from the phone. I would highly recommend as a parent that you block this feature. Not only does it prevent your child from visiting inappropriate sites, but unless you have a plan with unlimited access, this can drain your bank account in a hurry. Think about how easy it is for you to get lost surfing the web. Your teenager is destined to do so even more.

Unfortunately, when you compare cell phone plans, you almost have to plan on the worst case scenario. With teens, the worst case scenario is often also the most likely scenario. If having to compare cell phone plans seems too burdensome, you can always just say no a little while longer.

Find Out Who Owns Any Phone Number With A Reverse Phone Lookup

Monday, November 17th, 2008
by Doug Timlin

Thanks to the technology available nowadays, you can instantly discover the full name, address and even background information about anyone by having only their phone number. This is done by using a “reverse cell phone search” - let’s take a closer look at how this is done.

Although there are companies that charge for this type of service, there’s a way you can find this information for free.

Grab the phone number that you are “investigating” and fire up your computer. Go to Google and type in the phone number in this format: “555-555-5555″ (include the quotation marks). Press the search button and wait for your results to come up.

In this case we are hoping that this phone number has found it’s way on the world wide web at some point in time. People will leave their phone number on webpages for different reasons - this is needed for filling out a classified ad or even filling out some types of ‘profile’ pages. If this number has ever been published online, Google is your best bet to find it.

If you see an exact match in your results have a look at the webpage and see what you can find out. Is the person’s name listed? How about their address? You are hoping to get as much information as you can about the owner of the number.

This trick will often work - give it a stab and see if you can find what you are looking for. If not, you can still get full details on the person by spending a few bucks on a paid service.

There are companies that pay money to have access to all phone records (including unlisted and cell phone numbers) and then build massive databases for people to conduct a search through. Not only do law enforcement and government agencies use there services, but it is also available to the general public.

Fortunately it isn’t expensive. You just type in the phone number (it’s all done online) and the information will be immediately displayed on your screen. Not only do you see the owner’s name and address, but you will also typically get other background information about the person.

There’s a link at the bottom of this article you can use to try a free sample search. It’s impressive to see how much information you can find out about someone with nothing but their phone number.

One tip to save yourself a few dollars is to use a company that charges a flat fee for unlimited searches. You will only be billed once and can then run a search whenever you want (both now and in the future). This makes it a lot less expensive than paying for each individual reverse cell phone search.

There’s a lot of reasons why you might need to use this type of service. Perhaps you are getting prank calls from a certain number and want to find out who is calling, or you want to know why a particular phone number keeps showing up on your spouse’s cell phone. Whatever the reason, it’s nice to know you can use a reverse cell phone search whenever you might need it. All the best!

Tips In Buying The Cell Phone You Want

Monday, November 17th, 2008

Buying the right cell phone for your personal usage can sometimes be frustrating and we feel like we are in a maze. There are a lot of cell phones out there and lot renditions about them that will make the whole buying process all the more hard. The prospect of buying a cell phone alone can already be baffling and sometimes we only waste time out to complete a single mission of buying a cell phone.

With vast array of choices like brands, models and the likes, it can sometimes be mesmerizing and confusing. Talking about deals, there are also a lot out there with providers competing with each other. It can be a very big dilemma especially for persons who do not really have clear idea of what they are looking for in a cell phone. In the world of indecisiveness, often we end up buying nothing or the item we never really considered before and that is where high levels of frustration comes in. There are few suggestions that you could follow in order to reach a certain decision and probably horde some money in the process.

Clearly define your needs in a cell phone and which plan will suit you better. If you have this in mind, it will become a lot easier to narrow down the endless list of good handsets. Also you will have idea on which provider will give you what you really need instead of leaving the rest of the buying process to pure luck and fortune. It is like clearly defining your goal. Prepaid plan is suitable for people who only use their cell phone occasionally compared to postpaid plans which you pay on monthly footing. If you are an occasional user, you would benefit from prepaid plans because you can control your credits and budget within a month.

Do not be such a buyer who is heedless of the consequences and drastic to the point of not thinking what it is they are buying. It is a robust suggestion that you look for information regarding cell phones first because then it will be pretty much easier to compare one from the other. Going online is the best way to find such data about handy phones. Also find very good deals while you are at it. There are cell phones that have become very popular on cell phone users and sometimes cell phone providers would give a very good deal so that more and more consumers will buy that certain product. I think you should hunt for that kind of deals.

From the list of the cell phones that you have gathered, choose the one that appeals most to you regardless of its size, design or model. Since you have already narrowed the price range, most probably you will have the list of those cell phones that will fit for your budget. Always think that you are the one who will be using the cell phone and it is important that you make the wisest decision there is and that the cell phone you buy will be really for you and not because somebody recommends it for you. It would be perfectly thrilling if you could finally use the kind of cell phone that you have been searching for this whole time.

Pros And Cons Of Iphone - Do You Think You Know Them?

Sunday, November 16th, 2008

Apple introduced iPhone to the world market in 2007 and its 3G version in 2008. iPhone is a revolution in the cell phone industry.

The sophistication and the general technological advances that the iPhone affords are second to none. The iPhone has won rave reviews by one and all in the smart phone sector. At the same time, it will be wise to delve a bit deeper and take a reality check. The flaws of the iPhone should not be ignored.

Pros:

Storage space - The iPhone boasts of a huge 8 GB storage capacity. In fact, a 16 GB version is in the tube.

Design - The iPhone dimensions measure 115.5mm x 61mm x 11.6mm and it weighs a paltry 135 Gms. This makes it a sleek looking gadget. The iPhone has a liquid crystal display and a HVGA touchscreen. It is easy to interact with the iPhone using our bare fingers on a virtual keyboard.

Internet connection - Email, web browsing and Wi-Fi or GSM/EDGE connectivity are the very necessary services rendered by an internet connection in the iPhone. Safari is the web browser provided on the iPhone. Exclusive sites for the iPhone have been created o attract the user.

Multimedia - An extremely sophisticated music library is incorporated inside the iPhone. Endless films and shows can be enjoyed on the iPhone. A link is provided to iTunes Store which makes download of latest songs very easy. YouTube videos can be watched on the iPhone.

Camera - The camera function is out of this world. The quality of pictures is just astounding. The user can upload, view and e-mail photographs of choice.

Ring tones - The user has the independence to create and customize a ring tone of choice. He also has the option to download any ring tone from the iTunes store

Cons:

Email - The user has to open the e-mail program every time he wants to check the mail. An automatic notification is not available on the iPhone. This inhibits the efficiency of accessing e-mails.

Bugs - Being technologically complex makes it accessible to many bugs and errors. The touchscreen sometimes does not respond and there are system crashes. Hackers have found a way to unlock and access information in an iPhone.

Missing basic utilities - There is no cut and paste option in the iPhone. Provision for delivery reports and MMS are also missing. These are the basic utilities in a cell phone which have not been provided for in the iPhone.

Overpriced - The main disadvantage of the iPhone is its exorbitant price. The iPhone is priced at around $500 - $600 which does not make it an easy buy for the average customer.

Conclusion:

The final verdict is a bit difficult to deliver. The option to purchase the iPhone rests entirely on the needs of the user. The excellent, big and bright display and gorgeous photos and videos are a big draw for the iPhone. Automatic spell checking and correction and a dynamic dictionary make text input an easy job.

The Visual Voicemail feature enables the user to just tap and play back any message displayed. At the same time, it is difficult to get used to the intricacies of a virtual keyboard, and use fingers dexterously for the purpose of navigation. AT&T`s telephone network is not very healthy. Browsing is difficult and very costly.

Despite all these drawbacks, Apple sold 270,000 iPhones in the first 30 hours after its launch. Right now, Apple has released iPhone 3G in twenty-two countries and is expected to launch its product in many more countries as well.

By using a reverse cell phone search you can find out someone’s full name, address and background information by having only their phone number. This can come handy in many different situations - let’s have a look to see how it is done.

You usually have to pay for this type of service, but there is a free way to find out the same information. Let’s cut right to the chase and find out how this is done.

With the phone number you want to get details about, go to Google and type in the number. Use the following format: “555-555-5555″ (make sure to include the quotation marks). Click on the search button and take a look at what comes up.

Smartphones Do More than Just Call

Friday, October 31st, 2008
by CK Murray

Cell phones have become more than just phones. Now you can buy smartphones, which are still cellular phones, but with many more available features. It seems like just a few short years ago cell phones were big, bulky, and not so user friendly. Not only have they streamlined the physical aspects, but with smartphone technology you can send text messages, check your email, take and send pictures, and even surf the web right from your cell phone. And that’s not all they can do. More and more models have GPS navigation built right in.

Smartphones are for more than just calling and texting. They take the most popular features of a PDA and combine them with the calling technology to help you keep you organized and on top of everything. You have complete multiple field address books, calculators, calendars and schedule reminders, and yes, there are still games included on a lot of smartphone models. You don’t want to be without those important boredom breakers.

Just a few years ago digital camera technology was incorporated into cellular phones and that has gone a step further with smartphones. Many models can also take video in addition to snapping still frame pictures so that you never miss a moment. This has brought us a whole new way to look at life. More and more people are snapping pictures of moments otherwise missed.

Of course, style is still a factor. You want your phone to call your friends and family and still look good. With the growing popularity of text messages and social networks, Twitter for example, many smartphones manufacturers are including full QWERTY keyboards on their models making quick work of typing out all those messages.

So, a smartphone is definitely more than just a phone. Now you’re carrying your cellular phone, your PDA, your GPS navigator, your address book, your dayplanner, your video camera, and your point and shoot camera all in one small package with a full keyboard. In today’s digital age it’s good to be able to condense all these gizmos and gadgets into one handy little super gadget to get things done efficiently with.

The Cell Phone Versus Home Phone Debate

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Ten or fifteen years ago, a cell phone looked like a thick walkie-talkie with an antenna as thick as your little finger. You’d see them on the ears of glamorous actors pacing down the streets of New York, in movies depicting corporate big city life. It took a few years for them to make their way into the hands of almost every adult; and then, almost overnight, young children had them too!

Many people are opting out of home phones altogether, claiming they have become obsolete with the advent of the cell phone. While the modern technology is unquestionably convenient, it does have some drawbacks you may not notice at first glance. And the trusty home phone may not be as antiquated as you think.

In defense of the home phone: Internet service, security system monitoring, and fax machines all use home telephone lines. True, these services can be acquired through wireless means as well, but usually at a greater cost to you. And of course, there is something to be said for the degree of permanence you get from a land line.

People switch cell phone numbers so often that it can be difficult for business, friends, and even family to keep track of them. Are the days when kids only have to learn one address and one phone number for themselves gone forever?

That said, I am the last one who’d admit to being anti-cell phone. It is my constant companion, as important as my wallet, keys, and chapstick when I’m walking out the door. Cell phones are obviously convenient because you can take them anywhere. Most have built-in caller identification, text messaging, and call waiting.

Probably the greatest thing about it is that you can be reached anywhere, anytime.

But the greatest con? You can be reached anywhere, anytime.

Sometimes it’s nice to have time for peace and quiet, where you can’t be interrupted. Having something glued to your ear all day long has several drawbacks. Many people have grown so dependent upon their cell phones that they feel naked if they leave them at home or the batteries run out.

Also, having to constantly remember to charge it, as well as the incessant monitoring of minutes and text message use, can be a pain. And don’t forget that as the technology improves, so will the number of advertisements popping up on your cell phone screen.

Some people have a land line that they use for neighbors or business, and a cell phone they use for friends and family only. It’s nice to have a cell phone number separate from the one you write on credit card applications and give out to businesses, hopefully reducing the number of solicitation calls you get on it.

These days, it can seem almost impossible to live without a cell phone, and insane to criticize them. But make sure to consider all the reasons for your home phone before you pull the plug–literally.

Making The Most Out Of Your iPhone 3G Unlocking Methods

Thursday, October 30th, 2008
by Chris Channing

Unlocking the iPhone 3G is a popular topic amongst apple product enthusiasts. The original iPhone was pretty easy to unlock, but the 3G has a tough firmware to crack, making it a task to even think about unlocking it. There are some successful methods, but none are as easy as the original iPhone unlock. Unlocking has many benefits, but there is a lot of difficulty involved with it.

Apple changed the firmware on the iPhone 3G to prevent hackers from unlocking it. However, many have been unlocked already. The difficulty involved is phenomenal, yet many people claim that it is easy. There are several people who work around the clock to come up with new unlocking methods. You can make the most out of what is available, but it wont be easy or cheap.

The SIM cards associated with the iPhone 3G are easily exchanged for a different one, but finding the right SIM cards are difficult. After you switch out the SIM cards you will able to use it under a different service provider but it can be another task trying to find a service provider to activate an unlocked phone.

The iPhone 3G also has hidden services and abilities that are unknown to most people. Hackers are working day and night to unlock those features, and come up with newer and more efficient means to doing so. Direct code manipulation is a good place to start, so that the inner workings will become “confused” and work with other services.

It can be pretty pricey to unlock the iPhone 3G, and the freedoms of having it unlocked are not exactly free. You also have to worry about finding a good hacker that wont rip you off or take your cash. Many honest people are dedicated to finding ways to unlock it that are both easy, and successful.

Since the iPhone 3G was so recently released, the unlocking methods are changing daily and growing. Eventually there will be more ways to unlock the firmware and utilize the hidden features. Hackers and those that make unlocking cell phones a hobby are quickly finding different ways to unlock the new apple iPhone 3G.

Closing Comments

While unlocking the iPhone 3G is currently almost out of reach for some, it is possible to unlock smaller features. Without risking anything, you can gain access to the ipod usage and internet without really messing with too much. It takes a lot of research on your part, and a bit of calculated risks.

Track Down Prank Callers Using Reverse Cell Phone Directory

Thursday, October 30th, 2008
by Davion W

By simply typing the cell phone number on the box provided for this purpose, a reverse cell phone directory allows you to locate the owner of the cell phone number you want to find out. This is the latest breakthrough in communication intended to determine who prank callers are. By using this service, you will immediately know who is eavesdropping on you. Consequently, a corrective measure could be undertaken on it.

Do you wake up in the middle of the night because your cell phone won’t stop ringing? Grudgingly, you get out of bed, thinking it’s an emergency, only to find out that you do not even know the person at the other end. When this happens, looking the number up in such a directory is a better way of dealing with pranksters.

There are several websites that offer reverse cell phone directory services. These websites, however, will allow you to avail yourself of their services at a certain price. Usually, there is a one-time membership fee, which is minimal.

Virtually, there are no reverse cell phone directories that exist at the moment. If you are looking for 100% free and legitimate sites, most likely you will only get frustrated because you will never find one even if you spend the whole day googling it. Perhaps, you will encounter many sites which claim they offer this kind of service for free, but once visited you will just find out they require payment to avail yourself of their service.

A reverse cell phone directory can be very useful, not just in tracking down prank callers, but also in remembering who the owner of the number you have jotted down in your notebook is. However, for you to maximize what such a directory can do for you, the best way is to go for paid sites.

Obviously, you will need to pay the membership fee in order for you to access the site, but once you have registered, there is no limit as to how many searches you can do. Besides that, you can perform other inquiries, as well. For instance, you can gain access to background information, criminal and court records, and even marriage and death records.

Reverse cell phone directories work a lot better than the traditional caller IDs. With a caller ID, if the person calling you is not registered in the directory, there’s no way for you to find out who he is.

With the reverse cell phone directory, the user does not only act as a detective or investigator, but a locator of a prank caller most especially.

The Ever Useful Satellite Phone

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Satellite phone maybe considered as out of date type of phone today because of the rapid emerging of cellular phones that use cell sites to acquire the signal they need. If we compare all the satellite phones being sold in the world market, they are obviously outnumbered by the other one.

Also known as the satphone, this type of wireless handy phone are connected directly to the orbiting satellite in space, unlike those phones that rely on the signal coming from the cell sites around the area. Satphones can be used anywhere in the world, but some depends on the structure of the system which coverage are in limited areas only.

Just like any other things being created in this world, these phones also had evolved throughout the years since it was invented. The first of its kind had big sizes and heavy to hold, compare with the ones created during the late 80’s and 90’s which sizes are reduced to fit the hands of the users and much lighter. If there is only one thing that remained unchanged, it was the large antenna.

This type of phone is usually used in remote areas especially during calamities and emergencies other mobile phones are useless because of the unavailability of cell site services. However, satphones have poor receptions when used indoors, so the user must go outside and find some clearings to acquire good signal, or at least use it near the window or houses that have thin roofing. This amazing gadget had been very useful during September 11 attacks, Hurricane Katrina, the collapsed Minnesota bridge just last 2007, and the Hawaiian earthquake. Another citation on the advantage of using satphones among others is its services are not affected during the occurrence of natural calamities that usually destroy cell sites.

Although these can give us such communication services, there is still a negative thing that happens while using it. Knowing the distance it can reach, expect the delay in your conversations because its signal should travel to its space satellite first before reaching the earth again and finally to the one you are talking to.

Despite of this single disadvantage, we can never deny its usefulness to humans. We can be linked to a place where no man has ever been to. It can also connect us to our loved ones who are in the military or mountains.

Moving on, there are three big satellite phone networks that are presently operating. They are as follows:

Iridium - this network uses up to sixty six satellites that are called Low Earth Orbit or LEO located in our polar orbits about four hundred eighty miles above the sea level. This also offers a total global coverage.

Globalstar - this network however uses forty LEO satellites that as high as eight hundred seventy miles. This covers most places on earth but not all of it.

Thuraya - unlike the first two networks, this is one can only cover a few areas on earth that includes Middle East, Europe, Northern and Central Africa, and the Central Asia.

No matter how the calls and the satphone will cost, this gadget is definitely a must-have for its services are out-of-this-world.

Corey Palmer is a communications and satellite phone collector. His online store allows you to buy satellite phones like Motorola satellite phones and the Iridium 9505.

Why Should We Even Care About Cell Phone Etiquettes?

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Cell Phones have become greatly popular in the previous decade. It was not long ago that seeing someone with a cell phone was a strange sight. Cell phones in those days were not all that flashy and small but they were bulky and boring in general. Cell phones were only used for making calls. Most of the cell phones did not even have the option of text messaging. But all that changed in the previous decade and cell phones today have become a status symbol. A life without ones cell phone does not seem to be normal, like something is missing.

Due to the rapid increase in their popularity almost everyone today has a cell phone. In some places it is very normal for a person to talk in public on his cell phone while in other areas the same may be considered rude. Therefore certain cell phone etiquettes must be implemented and these etiquettes are different for different areas and cultures.

For Example, in America, like other things, almost anything goes. People can be seen talking on cell phones in supermarkets, in buses and while waiting for a bus on the bus stop, while driving and even in school. Due to this reason many states have started passing laws that makes it illegal for a person to talk on his cell phone while driving. Similarly many institutions such as colleges and schools do not allow students to bring cell phones with them on to campus. This also prevents students from sending text messages to each other while in class.

On the other hand we have Japan, which is the complete opposite of America in terms of cell phone usage etiquettes. In Japan it is considered rude to talk on your cell phone in public places. It is very rare to see a person talk on his cell phone in public places. If they do talk in public places they do so very quietly, so that no one else gets disturbed. In Japan it is very rare to hear a cell phone ring in public places as they have turned off their ring tones and have enabled silent mode so that their cell phone only vibrates for an incoming call. This is a wonderful habit and should be practiced by all of us around the world.

Different areas and cultures have different cell phone etiquettes and it is important for us to know them. So that we may not be considered rude or disrespectful. If you are someone who travels to different places then you should be aware of these etiquettes. You should also know that talking on your cell phone while driving is illegal in almost all countries of the world. So this practice should be abandoned as it is also extremely unsafe. Instead of this dangerous practice Bluetooth headsets should be used. By using Bluetooth headsets our hands are free to drive and we ca talk while driving without getting in trouble with the law.

A Free Reverse Cell Lookup - Find Out The Owner Of Any Number

Monday, October 27th, 2008
by Doug Timlin

A reverse cell phone search lets you instantly find out who owns any phone number. You can find out someone’s full name, address, locations details and other background information by having nothing else but their phone number.

As you might imagine, this type of service will usually cost a few bucks, but there is a way to get the same information for free.

With the phone number you want to get details about, go to Google and type in the number. Use the following format: “555-555-5555″ (make sure to include the quotation marks). Click on the search button and take a look at what comes up.

You are hoping that this phone number has been published online at some point in time. People will post their phone number on the internet for various reasons; they might be posting a classified ad or entering information on a ‘profile’ page. If this number has ever found it’s way on the internet, Google will find it.

Take a look at your search results and see if you were left with an exact match. If so, open up the page and see what information is available about the number. Obviously we are hoping to see at least the name of who owns the phone - if we can find out even more detailed information than even better.

This free reverse cell phone search technique will often work. Even though the paid services aren’t expensive, you may as well give this a shot to see if you can save a couple of bucks. If it doesn’t you can always go to a paid service afterwards.

Since most phone numbers these days aren’t published in any phone book (unlisted and cell numbers), these phone records aren’t available in any “public domain”. Instead, companies have to pay money to have access to these records and then build databases that detective agencies, law enforcement and now the general public can search through.

Fortunately it isn’t expensive. You just type in the phone number (it’s all done online) and the information will be immediately displayed on your screen. Not only do you see the owner’s name and address, but you will also typically get other background information about the person.

You can use the link at the end of this article if you want to try a free sample search. It always impresses me by how much information you can find out about someone with only their phone number.

If you do choose to use this type of service, it is recommended to find a company that only charges a ‘one-time’ fee for unlimited searches. This way you are only billed the one time and can conduct as many searches as you want, whenever you want.

Important Tips to Consider When Buying Your First Pocket PC

This article is designed for those who still don’t have a Pocket PC but intends on getting one then certain helpful tips on how to buy your very first PPC are provided here.

Tip No. 1 - Making the Right Choice:

To start with you have to ask yourself why it is you want this type of device - for fun or for business? You need to be clear about this yourself or you will be disappointed when it arrives and it isn’t what you thought it would be. Owning a PPC can be worth it if you have been able to decide using the required smart thinking such as realizing whether it can really help you with your daily activities or business transactions.

Tip No. 2 - Learn More About its Capabilities:

Having the knowledge of the things concerning the device that you wanted to buy is a must to be able to determine the quality of the product. You can’t just purchase it because it’s cool and looks fancy, you’re better than that. You should research and be knowledgeable about the different capabilities of your Pocket PC’s operating systems so that you will truly comprehend its importance. Furthermore, educate yourself with things about PPC because remember, an informed consumer is a smart consumer.

Tip No. 3 - Talk to Other people Who have Bought One:

If you really want to know about something then often it is just best to ask someone who knows. Different aspects about the product of your choice can be obtained from the company’s forum page and in order for you to be informed of such things you need to ask questions regarding it. There is no reason why you cannot ask the manufacturers directly about their product if you wish. If you have specific questions you know the manufacturer won’t answer, locate other users and ask them as they are sure to tell you the truth.

Tip No. 4 - Comparison Internet Sites Will Also Help:

Online sites that provide product reviews are generally very useful with some providing information on long term tests. Review sites also provide a listing of their preferred choices and give marks out of ten and a list of their pet hates of each device. These sites also provide an insight to all the latest gadgets and electronic devices that are available and often for those that are about to be released. Many of these sites give updates about products, what the sales are like globally and other useful facts that help the consumer. With this in mind they quite often provide warnings about certain aspects that come to light about a product and what you can do about it.

Without doubt, the best way to get a feel for these tiny devices is to call into a number of stores that stock Pocket PC’s. This way you can actually hold one and use it to see if it meets with your expectations, which is something you cannot do on a website. To make it even easier, if they have a range of models you might find that one you had not considered is in fact superior to the one you had originally chosen. No two models are alike and this is the best way to see the advantages and disadvantages of individual models.

Tip No. 6 - Before a Purchase:

Once you have found the right item for your purchase, don’t buy it just yet. If you want to save a couple of bucks, then searching the Internet for similar models but with cheaper prices should be considered as there is always the possibility that you can find them. For you to be sure of the device’s quality, be sure to wisely compare prices from another and check whether it is still good enough that the unit doesn’t have any packaging marks or bruises.

Tip No. 7 - Enjoy Using:

Finally you can get to use it completely yourself but this means you will need to learn all it’s capabilities otherwise it will be underused and a waste of money. It doesn’t end there though, with your PPC, you can do numerous things aside from the usual activities.

How to Determine the Best Cell Phone and Service Plan for Your Particular Needs

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Finding a cell phone that’s right for you isn’t a very difficult process but can be quite a daunting task when inundated with the myriad of various types of phones available. Choosing the plan that’s best for your needs isn’t quite as tough.

To get started, think of what type of coverage you’ll require. You’ll want to check all the major carriers and have a look at their coverage maps to make sure you’ll have service in the places you visit most.

The next important step is looking at the various rates that a company might have to offer. You’ll want to be sure and compare between every carrier that you’ve narrowed your options down to. Several factors come into play here such as text messaging charges, mobile to mobile coverage and charges, internet plans and international rates.

If you find that you’ll be doing a lot of communicating via text message you might want to check all the carriers plans for unlimited text and picture messaging. The rates on that can vary from company to company and can run anywhere from $9.95 a month to $39.95 a month.

If you think you’ll require internet service on your cell phone, you’ll need to examine the companies individually for hidden fees or ridiculously priced connectivity charges.

Some carriers offer what appears to be a nice and fair rate for internet connectivity all the while masking the fact that they will charge you extra each byte of data you download or load from a web site. You should make sure you thoroughly examine the internet plans that each carrier offers to make sure you’ll be getting the best for your buck.

Another factor when choosing a carrier is minute sharing. If you’re only looking to have one phone line, any of the various carriers can be perfect for you and the above mentioned factors will be your major obstacles. If you plan to have multiple lines added for family members or loved ones, you will need to carefully examine the minute sharing plans.

Some carriers may have rates that seem fair for your needs until you find that each line may only be allotted a certain amount of minutes each month as opposed to simply allotting a set amount of minutes to a plan and the overage charges apply only after all of the minutes have been used as opposed to overage charges being applied when one of the lines goes over their allotted minutes.

Some carriers offer convenient features that allow you to select a few numbers you call the most, regardless of whether the number is connected to another mobile carrier or landline service, for free.

Usually plans such as this mean the calls made to those numbers will count as free minutes and will not subtract from your monthly allotment of minutes. These plans are quite popular with families who are spread out everywhere in the world or country and like to keep in contact. Plans such as this are often quite popular with teenage customers for keeping up with all their friends at once.

Yet another feature you may want to look into is the “rollover” feature some companies provide. What “rollover” minutes do is simply that, “roll over” to the next month of service time if you haven’t used them all yet. This can come in handy when one is planning to be out of town one month and know they’ll require extra minutes or when some months are known to be less heavy talk times for that person and others are incredibly talk heavy.

And the final thing you’ll need to look into is how many minutes you will require. This varies from customer to customer and is pretty easily determined. If you will be using the phone for emergency use only, you might want to check into any of the various pre-paid phone services available from multiple carriers today.

If you will be using the phone as a secondary line for use while away from home or the office, then a smaller amount of minutes should be fine for your needs. If you know that the phone will be your primary means of communication, you should definitely look into the larger minute plans available.

Determining the phone that’s best for you isn’t that daunting when you simply break it down. Many customers are immediately drawn to a phone’s outward appearance but the truth is just because a phone looks nice doesn’t mean it’s a reliable phone.

You need to check into what the phone does. Will you want a camera on your phone? How much battery life do you require from your from your phone? Will you need to access the internet from your phone? How compact do you want your phone to be? These are all options you should weigh when making your decision before appearance.

All carriers show a detailed breakdown of what each phone does on their websites and any customer service representative over the phone or in the store can generally break it down for you if you’re still unsure. Choosing the right phone for you is actually an easier task than you originally thought.

And now, you’re all set to face the wide world of cellular services and make an informed decision about what phone and plan is best for you.

Tips on How You Can Drastically Improve Your Cell Phones Battery Life

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Cell Phones have really improved in the previous decade. Cell phones did exist but were not that common, only business men or those people who could afford a cell phone could buy and use them. In those days cell phones were not only expensive but also very bulky in design. Cell phone services such as making calls and receiving calls were also very expensive. But all that changed in the previous decade. With advancements in technology, cell phones are becoming cheaper by the day. They are also becoming smaller and more portable. Today almost everyone above the age of twelve owns a cell phone. Some people are using their cell phones in place of their landlines.

But these handy little devices require delicate care. They are electronic devices so the standard rules of all electronic devices also applies to cell phones that is, they should be kept away from water, kept away from humid places, should not be left in the sun for long periods and so on. But when we talk about performance of cell phones the first thing that comes to mind is the cell phone battery life. Cell phone batteries on a single charge may work for ten hours or two days; this depends on how we use it.

There are various ways by which we can improve the battery life and battery charge time of our cell phones. Some of these methods are explained below.

Turn it off:

The simplest way to improve your cell phone battery life is to turn it off when you do not need it. For example many people don’t turn off their cell phones before going to sleep. This is a waste. If you are not going to use it then turn it off. Turn off your cell phones before going to seep.

No Signal?

Similarly if you are in an area where there are no cell phone signals or your network provider does not over that area then you should turn off your cell phone. Because if a cell phone cannot find any signal or network then it will keep searching for one till it finds a compatible network. This really drains your battery and you will notice that your battery will be completely drained within three or four hours.

Turn off Vibrator:

Use ring tones instead of the vibration function when in public places. This is because the vibrator consumes a lot of power. So if you feel that you can hear the ring tone even if your cell phone is in your pocket then it is best to turn off your vibrator.

Wi-Fi and Bluetooth:

Connectivity options such as wifi and Bluetooth consume power when turned on. If you do not use them then you should turn them off to preserve battery life.

Multimedia Consumes Power like Nothing else:

Multimedia such as camera, videos and mp3 songs consume a lot of battery power. Try to use these options as little as possible or only when needed. Also if your cell phone camera came with a flash then it is best to turn off your flash when taking pictures in the daytime.

Pocket PC Buying Tips

Important Tips to Consider When Buying Your First Pocket PC

Intending to buy a pocket pc is one thing but you need to be aware of what to look for if you want to get the most from it.

Tip No. 1 - Making the Right Decision:

To start with you have to ask yourself why it is you want this type of device - for fun or for business? You need to be clear about this yourself or you will be disappointed when it arrives and it isn’t what you thought it would be. Owning a PPC can be worth it if you have been able to decide using the required smart thinking such as realizing whether it can really help you with your daily activities or business transactions.

Tip No. 2 - Learn about the Device:

Having the knowledge of the things concerning the device that you wanted to buy is a must to be able to determine the quality of the product. There is no point in buying one just because it looks good when you take it out in front of your friends because that is shallow. You should research and be knowledgeable about the different capabilities of your Pocket PC’s operating systems so that you will truly comprehend its importance. Educating yourself with things concerning PPC is a must since being an informed consumer can not only make you the smart consumer but also save you from worries and troubles of purchasing a product you know nothing of.

Tip No. 3 - Open Communication with Other People:

For one to have a better understanding and appreciation of things, the importance of an effective communication must be incorporated. Ask questions using the company’s forum page in order to be informed of the different aspects about your choice product. Making an intelligent conversation with PPC manufacturers is a good idea as you can also ask about their product’s integrity and how it can contribute to your living. By asking other PPC users some details about the said device and how they operate it will also help you educate yourself and maybe they can also give you some helpful tips and related information regarding the Pocket PC.

Tip No. 5 - Trying Your Local PC Specialist:

Nothing beats walking around town looking for a Pocket PC. Asking an attendant to assist you with your inquiries regarding the PPC once you have found the best PPC shop can really help you come across with the best deals and ideal device. Once you have been able to compare different devices and yet remains to be unsatisfied, then you may appeal to the attendant to let you to feel how it is to hold one apart the other by playing with at least three to four models. Each model you look at will be different and they all have their good and bad aspects so what better way is there then seeing them all like this?

Tip No. 6 - What to Do Before a Purchase:

Once you have found the right item for your purchase, don’t buy it just yet. If you want to save a couple of bucks, then searching the Internet for similar models but with cheaper prices should be considered as there is always the possibility that you can find them. For you to be sure of the device’s quality, be sure to wisely compare prices from another and check whether it is still good enough that the unit doesn’t have any packaging marks or bruises.

Tip No. 7 - Now You Can Start Using it:

Turning on your very first Pocket PC and browsing its in and outs are just what you are more likely to do once you get a hold of the device. Remember, this is not just a digital assistant, it is much, much more so be prepared to do more with it that just arrange your social diary.

How To Do A Free Reverse Cell Phone Lookup And Is It Even Worth It?

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Each day more and more people are asking what a free reverse cell phone lookup is and if it’s possible to get one online. Of course it’s possible but it depends on so many factors so it may not be very thorough. On the other hand, it’s free so why not try it?

This search is basically when someone calls you on your cell phone and caller I.D. displays a phone number that you don’t recognize. You want to find out who is calling you so you would do a lookup to find out.

There are many cases that you would want to find out who exactly is calling you. For example, what if you hear your teen speaking to someone things that you don’t approve of and you don’t know the person that belongs to the number that is calling? Or perhaps your spouse has strange phone numbers on his cell phone or someone keeps calling your cell and they hang up. The list goes on and on. The reality is that there are an enormous amount of reasons why you would want to know who is calling you and a reverse cell phone look up can give you that information.

First thing you have to do is to decide what search engine you want to use. There is Google, Yahoo, Ask and a ton of other ones that you can use to begin your search. What happens is that these search engines crawl or move over websites looking for information. When they find it, they gobble it up and spit it out on your results page. That is the easiest way to understand the process.

Another tip when you are doing this type of search is to enter the phone number a certain way. Sometimes using dashes in between the numbers works where other times using periods in between the numbers gives more results. Overall, I believe that the best way to get information that is usable is to put the entire phone number in quotation marks. That tells the search engine that you only want results with the numbers in that exact order. This eliminates a lot of useless results.

If you don’t get any results that gives you information that is useful to you, then you could always find a good and accurate online reverse phone lookup company and they will get you all the information that you desire. Usually, for free, they will check and make sure that the person is found and that there are results for that name. If the name is found then they will, for a small fee, get you the information that you want in a matter of minutes.

Allen Walters is an expert when it comes to a free reverse cell phone lookup. He knows that even with caller I.D. many times we have no idea who is calling us on our cell phones. Learn how to discover who is on the other end of the phone to ensure that you keep yourself, your family and your children safe by doing a reverse cell phone lookup!

Who is Selling the Best Smart Phone?

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

I will endeavor to do a quick overview of the iPhone and the Blackberry Storm. First off they are both full screen smart phones. They both give you the ability to send and receive emails, open attachments in various formats, they both have a camera and video built in, they both allow you to play MP3’s, they both run on the 3G network and they both have built in satellite navigation.

Now that we know that they are both quite similar where are the differences. First off Apple created the portable MP3 market and unless you’re like me and hate iTunes the Apple will win in the music player department for most The other piece to notice is that the iPhone comes with a substantially larger built in hard drive, where the Storm wins is the fact that it’s hard drive is expandable to as large as a micro SD will handle which today is 16 GB.

Next stop is emailing which the Storm wins hands down, the Blackberry was originally designed to run emails and send and receive them very quickly. You can program your iPhone to send and receive in quick intervals but that Storm is designed to send you the email as soon as the network receives it.

Keyboards, if you have ever used an iPhone before you’ll have to admit the keyboard sucks and takes forever to get used it. It’s so called smart key system doesn’t work which for business in my opinion makes the iPhone useless. The Storm has the most amazing keyboard which for the first time ever uses a full screen that depresses and clicks each time you type. Finally a full screen that still gives you the touch and feel of the old qwerty keyboards!

The GPS navigation system for both works very well I was told that the Storm is the only one with voice navigation. I have been unable to verify whether or not the iPhone does or doesn’t have this feature. They both are easy to use and the maps are easy to read.

The camera’s on both units are very similar, while I realize many of us use the camera’s on our phones I have to be honest I am a camera buff and usually have a digital SLR near me at any given time. While both units take similar picture quality and both have 3.2 megapixel camera’s in my opinion they take horrible pictures.

I would have to say at the end of the day if you run a business and emails are important then the Storm is the superior unit. If you’re under the age of 25 and you want a unit that will allow you t have fun the iPhone is for you. Happy shopping both of these units are fantastic at the end of the day!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

The trend nowadays is instant communication between people whenever and wherever. It does not matter whether the form of communication is through calls or SMS. The important thing is that people seek for fast and convenient communication with the people they know and care about. This is one of the obvious effects of the prevailing lifestyle where people, young and old, have to spend considerable time in more than one area daily. The nifty concept in mobile phones, thus, is making everybody happy because of the wide innovations they offer in unlocked cell phones, palm notebook units and even videophones.

True to its name, mobile phone is for mobile individuals. People can go from one place to another with convenience and easy access to communication lines with the use of mobile phones. A mobile phone is designed for hand-carrying wile availing of excellent communication through calls and testing. The great thing is that it has been years since the cellular phone makers have been producing innovations to the awesome as it is mobile phone.

Today, you can already store music and videos in any file extension through your phone. Consequently, you can enjoy and share scores of music, tunes and videos in mobile phones. Sometimes, the sharing of videos and music is even made for free. You only need to secure a headset to enjoy the latest tracks and trailers. Most mobile phones also are capable of recording voice and videos, in much the same way that many phones are attached with cameras of excellent photo quality. The addition of camera and video systems saves incalculable amount of money to phone users as they do not need anymore to buy separate video recorder, voice recorder and camera. Thing is, even phone users are saved from buying Ipod or discman.

And the list of cool phone features does not end there. Some of the unlocked cell phones are not only made affordable as they are, but as well as offered with never-before-seen capabilities. Mobile phones are attached with a GPRS capability of tracking people from all over the world, no matter what time zone it is there. Perhaps the most enticing one is the capability of mobile phones to Internet connectivity. With just the use of mobile phones, you can already hook up to the Internet anytime. You can even use MS Office applications such as Word, Excel and Powerpoint. You can as well chat with people and get updated with their going-on through the phone. As been said, many mobile phones are also offered as unlocked cell phones. The amazing thing about unlocked phones is that they are customized in such a way that you will not have to worry about getting locked up. We know, of course, that the locked up phenomenon happens because network providers made some phones in such a way that you can not subscribe to phone services from competing network providers. The unlocked cell phones will never allow for that thing to ever happen with your phones.

Mobile Games - Cheap and Handy Fun for Anyone

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Anyone remember Tetris? How about Myst? I know, probably only us old timers remember, and many of us still revel at the thoughts of finally beating that monster that stole the princess as we anxiously attempted to pass through the many worlds of the first ever Mario Bros video game on our modest first Nintendo consoles. Do you think Mario or Luigi could have predicted how far they would come?

Video games have come a long way, and have spread to sophisticated designer home consoles, computer gaming and mobile hand helds that are far more advanced and with bigger and better digital capabilities and graphics. And, mobile phones have not been left behind in the world of gaming. Same as music ringtones, cell phone games allow users to personalize their phones and make them usable way beyond just receiving and making calls.

Mobile Games

The first ever cell phone game was Snake released in 1997 as an embedded application for Nokia phones. It’s doubtful that the Finnish mobile giant knew at the time that this simple addition would forever alter the function of a cell phone. With Snake, and the tons of mobile games that followed, cell phones became much more that just communication devices and became entertainment for the modern age.

What is the fascination with video gaming? Well, for the most part we are obsessed with gadgets and technology overall. And, the fact that millions of video games are sold every year and people slept outside as long as three days just to have the chance to get their hands on Playstation 3 supports this.

The answers to the fascination with mobile games may be more simplistic. While gaming in general whether, computer, console or hand held is huge business, and an activity which people spend a lot of money and ample time weekly engaging in whether alone or with friends and family, mobile games probably serve a little different and more pragmatic purpose.

For example, while commuting on a train to work or to pass the time waiting in a doctors waiting room. And, while video games can be a much more social event, mobile games are usually played solo, and are a great way to engage the mind and create a fun activity anywhere and anytime. Also, while the gaming hobby can be a significant expense, mobile games are very cheap, and there are many standard free games that come with most cell phones.

Today, there are hundreds of different mobile games to suit any fancy. From, quiz games like Trivial Pursuit, Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune, to card and board games, arcade, racing, shoot ‘em up, 3D, brain twisters, lifestyle games, and many more, there is a game to suit everyone and anyone.

Mp7 - The New Age Phone

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Time was when all we had were stationary `land line phones` to make and receive calls. Then things changed with cordless phones making an appearance and this offered greater freedom as one could move around the premises talking on the phone. Even this is seemingly becoming outdated, what with cell phones being all the rage.

These phones offer the maximum flexibility as they can make or receive calls to any place on the earth from any place on the earth. The popularity of cell phones is staggering and there will scarcely be any one person who does not have a cell phone in today’s world.

Like in everything else, technology has made such rapid advances in the field of cell phones that what was new just yesterday has become old news today! People are found to be discarding their months old cell phones in an instant without any qualms to replace them with whatever new has caught their fancy and whichever model offers them the maximum features.

Normally, cell phones have to be either GSM-enabled or CDMA-enabled. Both are basically networks which provide your telephone connections. The GSM is more commonly used worldwide and therefore all cell phones compatible with this network can be used internationally.

The Mp7 cell phone is GSM-enabled. This phone uses a SIM(subscriber identity module) card which stores all your contact lists and other information so that you can transfer it to another GSM phone. It also operates in different frequency ranges. The CDMA on the other hand is activated by the service provider and does not require a SIM card.

The mp7 cell phone is a generic cell phone and supposedly a clone of the iconic iphone. Cell phones now come equipped with cameras of high resolution thus eliminating the need of separate cameras to take pictures.

Many come with cable and software to connect to the computer which means you can transfer pictures effortlessly to your computer from your phone. The new mp7 has a 1.3 mega-pixel camera, which though not very high resolution, manages to take reasonably good pictures. The pictures may not be great but they are definitely not too bad.

Coming with a built-in FM tuner, the mp7 will appeal to music lovers. The new age mp7 cell phone makes the mp3 look like old hat. Featuring memory slots to store pictures, music or video, these cell phones are a gadget-lover`s dreams come true. Available in either black or silver for that sophisticated look, the mp7 has a 320×240 touch screen display. It also boasts of an analog TV tuner which means that it has support for mobile TV along with the mp7 format.

Nowadays with all and sundry possessing a mobile phone, it has become a `must` for the image-conscious person to personalize his/her phone. Youngsters especially download wallpapers, ring tones, logos to distinguish their cell phones from those of others. The mp7 cell phone can be personalized with any wallpaper or ring tone of your choice to give it that unique appearance.

Though it is too early to come out with a categorical verdict on the mp7 phone, the few reviews which have appeared are not very flattering. Mostly perceived to be a fake replica of the iphone, the mp7 phone has been castigated as cheap and tawdry with all possibilities of it breaking down within a few months. This is contradictory when one considers the cost of the phone which is by no means inexpensive.

How To Make Use Of Your Cell Phone

Sunday, October 19th, 2008

Cell phones have now become an important part of your lives now. It is a device that let us connect to our loved ones wherever they maybe. But if you are a student, cell phone can become a very handy tool to aid you in homework, assignments and in your studies as well

Time management: all cell phones have built in alarms and reminder calendars. They are two most useful features of cell phones and yet they often are the ones we tend to ignore. However if you use it wisely and set the alarm for those events you don’t want to forget or be late to then you can. You can set alarm everyday to remind you of your homework or study time to prevent you from spending too much time into other activities. You can use your calendars to entry the dates when your assignments and projects are due and set an alarm on that. Birthday reminders can also be done using the calendar.

Communication: As a student you will often find yourself stuck to work on a project in a group. You often times have all those hard assignments that you will need advice from your friends. You can make use of a three-way conversation with them to find out what exactly they think about a certain assignments without actually having to go around their houses especially during times you are grounded. Most cell phones have this three-way connection call already and it shouldn’t be any problem. You might just have used it already, you were not just aware hoe useful this feature can become.

Audio Features: Some cell phones have built-in voice recorder. This feature can be made use not only for recording a certain favorite music of yours but also to things you need not forget. It is a very important feature where you can learn so many things like record that difficult French pronunciation and so many other tasks. Even if your phone doesn’t have this certain feature you still can accomplish this by sending yourself a voice message. It is just a matter of time before you get used and make the most of your cell phone’s features.

Images: New cell phones models have already a built-in image sharing or used as cameras. For most, this is used to take pictures of themselves, with friends and even with family creating memories with their cell phones. This is the most convenient way instead of using cameras. However, it is noteworthy top mention that if you are a working on a project or a presentation, pictures and illustrations can be the best way to do this. Instead of borrowing the book to be photocopied why not make use of your phone and take a clear picture. That way you won’t have to waste time. You will see how convenient that is. You can then upload the images to your personal computer using memory card, blue tooth or USB cable. You will just need to do some exploring before you can really make use of your phone.

MP3 downloads : It is not only MP3 music that you can download from your very own cell phone. You can also download informative MP3’s if you only take time searching for them. Those MP3’s that are uploaded for students who self-study are already made available in the internet and you can easily access them right from your cell phone.

Electronic Books: Most cell phones have internet browsers already. Knowing this you already have a whole library right from your very own hand. And you can definitely access them and read them fro your very own phone without spending time so much inside the library. Although I am not saying it is as good as your university library but maybe be a good alternative.

Making use of your cell phones not just as a communication device is the same as saying you can make the most of their features. They are not built just for decorations and fun only. They are there to offer service and it will be up to us if we use them appropriately or just ignore their presence

Read This Before Choosing Your Next Cell Phone Ring Tone

Friday, October 17th, 2008

As technology advances so do cell phones. First generation cell phones only had monotone ring tones that sounded like those old retro game sound effects. So needless to say there was not much choice regarding ring tones back then. But that all changed with second generation phones as polyphonic tones were introduced and in third generation tones we could use true tones or even mp3 files as our ring tones.

Nowadays people use personalized ring tones and some use a separate ring tone for each caller or caller group. With so much choice it is very rare for two people to use the same ring tone. But there are some ethics to choosing a ring tone. We can’t use any ring tone and then expect people to be okay with that. Therefore there are some things one must take into consideration before choosing a ring tone and I will be discussing some of these here.

Are The Lyrics Appropriate?

Like mentioned above nowadays the more popular ring tones are sons or small sections of a song. While selecting such ring tones it is important to choose such a ring tone that is not abusive or offensive since this ring tone will be heard in public every time your phone rings. There are a surprising number of offensive songs and choosing such songs as your ring tone is not advisable. As it may offend your friends or co-workers ad make them feel uncomfortable.

Type of Music:

There are different kinds of music. They are jazz, hip hop, pop, rock, heavy metal and so on. And everyone has their own choice. Not everybody likes to hear hip hop and similarly not everybody likes to listen to heavy metal. Keep that in mind while selecting your next ring tone. Like before selecting a heavy metal song or any other ‘noisy’ song as your ring tone is not advisable. Instead soft songs or instrumentals should be used as ring tones.

Volume:

Finally it is extremely important to keep the ring tone at an acceptable volume. Some people keep the volume of their cell phones so high that every times it rings the people surrounding that person almost jump out of their skin. This is just rude and the volume must always be kept at an acceptable level. If you are in a noisy environment such as a market then keeping a high volume is understandable but when in you are in a closed environment with minimum noise then it is best to keep your volume at its minimum.

Silent Profile - Please Use It:

All cell phones have a built in silent profile. What it does is that it turns off the ring tone and turns on the vibrator. Now in case of an incoming phone call, the cell phone will only vibrate instead of ringing. This profile is very important and must be frequently used. While in schools or libraries or when in a religious gathering such as mosques and churches, the silent profile must be activated so that we do not disturb other people.

Benefits Of Having Cell Phones

Thursday, October 16th, 2008

Before the era of cell phones came about, we had a very simple but hard lifestyle at the same time. The means of communication is by far not that easy. However, when cell phones came into the market, everything basically was turned upside down and we started having easier communications with those we love. At first text messaging was not introduced yet and we are left with no choice but to call. But in the advent of SMS, cell phones became more and more popular and in demand leading to leading manufacturers to earn big bucks with it. My country, Philippines, is considered the text capital because almost everyone already had cell phones. However, what does cell phone really do in our lives to be able to see the benefits?

First, we get to communicate easily through calls or texts. If there are emergencies that we need to attend to and therefore will not be able to arrive on time for the rendezvous. Although some had taken advantage of this just to get away from important things that they feel are not included in their agenda. However, not all use cell phones to take advantage to. Another thing about easy communication is that we can also send text messages as well as do calls when WE are in emergency, especially in times of calamities or when we need to call for help. This is really of utmost importance of all.

Second, cell phones can be a very good way to get a date. Many relationships start with wrong sent messages or text mates. I had a friend whose husband at the moment was her text mates back when we were still in college. I should say it was one good relationship that really lasted even though they only met initially in the virtual world. Once they met, the chemistry was already there and finally they ended up at the foot of the altar.

Third, sending and receiving money through cell phones has now been made available by phone providers. It is the most convenient way of having money as fast as ATM does. The money can buy you phone prepaid credits with just one press away or better yet cash it out at the provider’s business office and you are on your way to shop using the money. I have known many people utilizing the service in sending and receiving money whether as allowance or tuition. Even salaries are now being transferred using this service.

Fourth, cell phones connect people much closer than it was before its advent. Many overseas workers can now contact their loved ones all the way from home for less. Using cell phone calls and some services being offered, it is now easy for people to stay connected although of course letter sending and emails are two other options. However, using cell phones is the top rated solution for staying connected. It is easier and faster this way although of course it also has its own limitations.
