No other car can change change our fortunes than this one. Frank Sinatra owns one of these T-Birds, so we might as well get ourselves to Vegas and rent one.

The Ford Thunderbird is an automobile made by Ford in th United States from 1955 through 2005. Through its thirteen generations it also had a lot of various body types. The first car was shown at the Detroit Auto Show on February 20,1954. Its first production car came out on September 9, 1954 and went on sale on October 22, 1954. 3,500 orders were placed in the first ten days of sale. The 1955 car model had a V8 engine and was a smaller two-seat “personal luxury car.”

The 1956 Thunderbird had more trunk space, exhausts were moved to the ends of the bumper, spare wheels were mounted outside, and air vents were added to improve cabin ventilation. Porthole windows were made to improve rear-quarter visibility. It had a 312-cubic inch V-8 packing 215 horsepower with optional stick-overdrive or 225 with self-shift Fordomatic.

This car may have been inspired by European sports cars, but this one ended up as an all-American convertible designed for comfortable, smooth, powerful, and straight line performance. They were uncommonly handsome, thus, they were instant classics. This is also one of the reasons why so many of these cars still roam the the boulevards of Beverly Hills. This is also the reason why so many who come to Las Vegas look for the the Ford Thunderbird to rent it.

Doubledate The Las Vegas Strip In Classic Rental Car

Monday, October 13th, 2008

You have been in love for a long time with the all-American classic Ford Thunderbird. You may have been dreaming about cruising on the strip of Las Vegas with your girlfriend in your arms. You have done your homework, put the pictures on the wall, saved enough money, and planned for the trip. But sometimes reality does not go along with us, it is either we need to spend a lot more money than what you have or that your best friend and his girl also want to go cruising with you and you just can’t say no. What a bummer, right?

Wrong.

Car rentals in Las Vegas abound that offer sports and classic car models for you to take on the road. And of course if you want a Thunderbird that seats four people (you and your girl with your bestfriend and his), then you have got to go rent the 1960 Ford Thunderbird.

The 1960 Ford Thunderbird was part of the second generation automobiles introduced first in 1958 as a four-seater car. This four-seat Thunderbird was designed with unibody construction abandoning a separate chassis. The purpose was to allow the maximum interior space in a small exterior package.

The new Thunderbird got the Motortrend’s Car of the Year Award for its debut season. Though many fans of the earlier two-seat Thunderbird were not that glad about its new direction, sales doubled more than the previous year. This, despite losing three months to production and 1958 being a very low year for car sales.

The 1960 Thunderbird had no mechanical changes, having only a few styling differences by adding the vertical hash-marks added to rear fenders, six taillights instead of four, a square-mesh grille with full-width horizontal bars, and a “Thunderbird” script on the door projectile.

On its emblems and ornaments, there were changes but still minor. Added were a standard rectangular outside mirror, door handles that blended more closely with the upper belt molding and door trims that were changed to incorporate a built-in armrest. The 1960 model also used stainless-steel components and there were even two cars that were made entirely of stainless steel by one of Ford’s suppliers, Allegheny-Ludlum Steel Corporation.

The 1960 Ford Thunderbird, in all its muscle and American stylings, can be taken for a cruise down the Vegas dirt road or even for just a night out on the strip. The four-seater that it is, you can either enjoy a duo or with the company of friends.

So if you find your best friend and his girl jumping in on your trip, thus potentially ruining your plan, don’t despair just now. You can still ride one of the great all-American classic cars with your girl and of course your best friend and his girl. Las Vegas car rentals are here to save your day. With a classic car as your ride, double dates are a piece of cake.

Making History With A Luxury Car Rental in Vegas, Nevada

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Once upon a time there, was an American Indian named Pontiac. He was known as an Ottawa leader who became famous during the American Indian struggle against the British military occupation of the Great Lakes region in the years 1763 to 1766.

Now the name Pontiac has become a brand for automobiles that is produced by General Motors and has been sold in Canada, Mexico, and the United States since 1926. It is marketed by General Motors as an athletic brand which specializes in mainstream performance vehicles.

The Pontiac story begins at a time were the car was seen as a middle-of-the-road reliable car that were more suited to middle income buyers of middle age. The young lucrative emerging performance oriented customer eluded the brand. Yes, they were reliable but Pontiac just could not shake off that dowdy image.

It was like that during the years 1946-1948, sales were growing alright but their cars, the Torpedoes and Streamliners, were quickly becoming out of step and out of date with the growing youth market.

Change had to come and it came with the introduction of the Chieftain which replaced the Torpedo. Then in 1954 the Star Chief was created. The Star Chief was Pontiac’s prestige model. It was easily recognizable because of its chrome star trim along the sides. On episode 100 of I Love Lucy the characters drove to the West Coast on a 1955 Star Chief.

In 1957,the Star Chief Custom Bonneville was introduced as part of its push to raise the marque out of the doldrums. The Bonneville gained a full range of styles and received the lion’s share of Pontiac’s attention in the the marketplace

In 1958, the Star Chief was only limited to sedans and hardtops. Nearing its end the Star Chief was no longer Pontiac’s prestige model but it still was a well appointed car.

Already in the early 1960’s the model had become dated so in 1966, the car was renamed the Star Chief Executive as its first step to retiring the name. In 1967 the Star Chief name was dropped and was renamed the Executive. And so ends the story of the Pontiac Star Chief.

Yet we can still continue our own story. Now the Pontiac Star Chief still can be appreciated by renting the car at one of classic car rental dealers in Las Vegas. Check on the Internet and find one that suits your needs.

The Pontiac Star Chief is one of the first cool cars of Pontiac, but it is now part of the history books. By renting it at one of the classic car rentals in Las Vegas, you can revive it and write your own history on the asphalt.

Make your own history.

Rent the Classic Ride in Las Vegas, Nevada and Drive Like a Celebrity

Monday, October 13th, 2008

In the 1920’s and 1930’s, it was a distinction to drive such a car. Mercedes-Benz created supercharged cars that overshadowed all the refined and powerful cars that had existed before them. They created a new era of automotive engineering. Politicians and captains of industry, artists and athletes were the people driving these supercharged Mercedes cars. These people opted for an image of dynamism and savoir vivre, for the most refined design and for the most advanced engineering. These people were looking for the best cars in the world.

These supercharged models from the 1920s to 1930s all had one thing in common. They represented the ultimate in automotive engineering in their eras. The experience of driving them, to listen to the howl of their mechanical charger, to feel the power of their engines was the crowning glory of motoring. And now that distinction still continues. That distinction can still be experienced. Las Vegas car rentals offer one of the supercharged cars that came out of that era: the 1936 Mercedes- Benz 500K.

The 1936 Mercedes-Benz 500K was part of the brand’s famous eight-cylinder cars that was built in the 1930s. The other car models were the Mercedes- Benz 380 and the 540K. These cars differed from their predecessors because they were designed for speed and comfortable travel rather than racing. They were expressions of luxury, performance, and elitism. These cars were manufactured by hand and even custom made to the wishes and ideas of each individual customers.

The Mercedes-Benz 500K was a sports car that was built by Mercedes- Benz from 1934 to 1936. It was first exhibited at the 1934 Berlin Motor Show. It is distinguished from the 500 sedan by the “K” in its name which stands for the kompressor(supercharger) fitted to the sports car. It is the successor of the Mercedes-Benz 380 and has a larger, more powerful engine and more voluptuous coachwork to adhere to customers’ demands for greater luxury and performance.

The Mercedes-Benz 500K is powered by a M24 inline-eight cylinder supercharged engine that is capable of producing 160 horsepower. If the 380 was named after the cubic capacity of the engine. The “500″ was named for its 5018 cc power plant. The car had also introduced innovative achievements with its power assisted brakes, a rear independent suspension with swing arms and a transmission that had five gears.

The Mercedes-Benz 500K was procurable in ten unique body styles. Part of this was the Special Roadster which is considered one of the most attractive automobiles ever built.

You’re the Star in Vegas on a Flashy Sports Car

Austin-Healey was a brand of sports car that was established through a joint venture arrangement that was set up in 1952 by Leonard Lord of the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation and Donald Healey who was a renowned automotive engineer and designer. They produced cars until 1972 when their 20-year agreement between the two men came to an end.

In 1966, British Motor Company merged with Jaguar Cars to form British Motor Holdings. And in 1968, Donald Healey left the company while British Motor Holdings merged to become British Leyland. Donald Healey joined Jensen Motors who was now making the “big Healeys” in 1952 and became its chairman in 1972.

The 1965 Austin-Healey or the Austin-Healey 3000 was a sports car that was built from 1959 to 1967 by Jensen Motors for the Austin-Healey brand. The 3000 make was a very successful car winning a lot of European rallies in its heyday. It was supposed to be called the “Mille Miglia” after the famed sports car race but instead the displacement-based “3000″ name stuck.

The 1965 Austin Healey was a 2-door roadster and had a FR layout. Its engine was a 2912 cc C-series. Wheelbase was 92 inch, 158 inch in length, 60 inch in width and 46 inch in height. Its curb weight was 2550 lb.

The Austin Healey being one of the famous cars that it is also gets featured in a lot of television shows and movies. It starred in animated series, The Simpsons in 1989 to 2008. It also starred in the movie, “The Thomas Crown Affair” in 1968, “Father of the Bride” in 1991, and “The Bank Job” in 2008.

Though there are efforts to recreate the Austin-Healey brand which started with Nanjing and Healey Automobile consultants/HFI Automotive signing a collaborative agreement, there is still no timeline as to when the famous sports car brand will return.

So as of now, while we wait for its return, we might as well enjoy this fast car by renting it at sports and classic car rentals in Las Vegas. Information widely abounds in the Internet. They have specific offers of their services and of the car models they carry.

So, when in Vegas, you may want to check one of these babies out or take them for a ride or two. Sure, you’re no Thomas Crown. But Vegas lets you be one, at least for a day. There are no limits here in the Entertainment Capital of the World.

Get A Second Look: Drive A Luxury Car in Las Vegas, Nevada

Friday, October 10th, 2008

If you want attention in Las Vegas, you have got to get the car that will get you attention and maybe more. You have got to get a car that is more famous than you. And what better way to get that than by renting a Rolls Royce, the name that defines elegance and luxury. And what better way to get that ultimate Rolls Royce experience than to rent a 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur.

The 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur has its claim to fame when it appeared in movies such as “Absolute Power” in 1997, “Eyes Wide Shut” in 1999, “Rush Hour 2″ in 2001 and “The Bucket List” in 2008. It continued its celebrity run as it has also appeared in the television series “Miami Vice” from the years 1984 to 1989. It is even famous for being the last car that chauffered Princess Lady Diana in her last trip to the United States.

The 1987 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur is a long-wheelbase version and is four inches longer than the Silver Spirit. The Spur is identifiable by its ever-flex roof and extended rear windows. The Silver Spur uses a Girling automatic hydraulic ride height control system along with gas-charged shock absorbers while still retaining the high degree of ride quality and self-leveling suspension that the Silver Shadow offered.

The Rolls-Royce Silver Spur, for the interior, had rich leather seats and deep pile carpets that gave its driver and passengers utmost comfort. It also had a veneer-overed fascia retaining a traditional appearance. The Silver Seraph, first unveiled, on March 31, 1998 at the Geneva Motor Show soon replaced the Silver Spur, which ended production in 1997.

But even with its untimely replacement, there is still no doubt that this is a car that is more famous than you. And if you want to share the fame yourself, you can “rent” it at one of the Las Vegas car rentals that offer luxury car models across eras. With the variety of rental car dealers in Vegas, you are sure to find one that will offer you the Silver Spur, which exudes character and elegance like no other. This is a car that gets you attention. This is the car that gets you that second look.

By surfing the Internet, Las Vegas car rentals can easily be accessed through their websites. These websites offer services such as car fleets and rates, pictures and testimonials, rental policies, VIP services, and reservations all for your perusal.

Experience the Real Classic Car: Rent a 1937 Packard in Las Vegas

Friday, October 10th, 2008

We can talk all night about any given topic. Debate, discuss, and lay down the facts, but nothing beats experiencing the live thing. Nothing tops really letting the senses feel everything, or to hear, touch, smell, taste, and to see the real deal.

The axiom, “To see is to believe,” is what we get when go to museums or car shows to watch and be awed by sports, exotic, luxury or classic cars that are all in display. But with Las Vegas car rentals, the right thing to say is, “To sense is to believe.” The real experience and the awakening of the senses is the promise that Las Vegas car rentals bring you.

An even more appreciated point is the fact that with Vegas car rentals, we can still drive one of the leading luxury cars of the past that has now gone defunct. These luxury car models are not for sale anymore. But in Vegas, we are given the option to “rent” the experience and understand the reason why it was one of the leading luxury cars back then. Take the 1937 Packard 120 Convertible Sedan, for example the.

The 1937 Packard 120 convertible sedan was a car manufactured by the now defunct Packard automobile company. Packard automobile was founded by brothers James and William Packard, along with George Lewis Weiss in Ohio. James, a mechanical engineer, believed that they could build better horseless carriage than the Winton cars owned by Weiss. He had ideas for improvement on the design of current automobiles and by 1899 they were manufacturing vehicles. The company which they called the Ohio Automobile Company introduced a number of innovations such as a modern steering wheel and years later the 12-cylinder engine.

While other cars of that time like the Cole 30 & Colt Runabout were priced at US$ 1,500, the Oldsmobile runabout at US$ 650, the Western’s Gale Model A roadster was US$500 and the Black was US$375.The Packards were priced at US$ 2,600. Still, they had a following among the wealthy purchasers here in the United States and abroad.

While other car companies like Franklin, Marmon, Ruxton, Stutz, Stearns-Knight, Dusenberg and Peirce-Arrow crashed during the Great Depression, Packard survived by producing more affordable cars in the medium-price range. In 1935 the Packard 120 convertible Sedan came out. It was Packard’s first under-US$ 1,000 car.

The Packard 120 was produced from 1935-1937 and again on 1939-1941. It had numerous body styles that included convertibles, coupes and two-and four door configurations. The 1937 model had a “C” and “CD” trim levels. It had a wood-bodied station wagon, a touring sedan and a limousine body style. This model was equipped with a 282 cubic-inch motor with a 120 horsepower, dual side mounts and a heater.

It was after the second World War that Packard began to show signs of its end. It was at this time that Packard suffered a shortage of raw materials needed to manufacture automobiles. In 1959, the Packard nameplate was pulled out from the market. In 1995, there were plans for reviving the brand but the project was later abandoned and the world realized that 1959 was the last for the Packards to ever grace a showroom.

The 1937 Packard 120 Convertible Sedan remains to be one of the luxurious cars of history. And the thrill of riding it can still be experienced through renting it at one of the classic car rentals that Las Vegas offers. Don’t limit yourself. To see is to believe is not enough. Go for the full ride, experience to believe.

You Are Royalty in Las Vegas in A 1993 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur Luxury Rental Car

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Two for the price of one.

Prince Charles was born on November 14, 1948 and is the eldest son of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh. Although he is a resident of and mostly directly involved with the oldest realm, the United Kingdom, he is equally and separately the heir apparent to the thrones of sixteen sovereign states. He is also heir to the position of Supreme Governor of the Church of England, Lord of Mann, Duke of Normandy, and Paramount Chief of Fiji. His other titles are Duke of Rothesay and Duke of Cornwall.

Of course Prince Charles was married and divorced to Lady Diana Spencer and had two sons, Prince William and Harry. Then he was married again to Camilla Parker Bowles.

Two for the price of one.

The 1993 Rolls-Royce Silver Spirit was the first of a new generation of models for the Rolls-Royce company. It became the basis for the Flying Spur, Silver Dawn, Park Ward and touring Limousine. Its chassis was also used by its sister company, Bentley to its new Mulsana/Eight series. The Silver Spur had the same basic floor pan of the Silver Shadow as well as its V8 engine. It continued the self-leveling suspension and high degree of ride quality of the Silver Shadow by using a gas-shocked absorbers and a Girling automatic ride height control system. Produced at the same time the Silver Spur was the long wheelbase version of the Silver Spirit.

The Silver Spirit III and Silver Spur III were introduced in 1993. They both had a new intake manifold and cylinder heads which upped the power output. Rear seats that adjusted independently and dual airbags were also the other new features.

A 1996 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur was the last car that carried Princess Lady Diana around on her last trip to the United states.

The 1993 Rolls-Royce Silver Spur was the car that carried around Prince Charles on his 1993 Mexico- United States Royal Tour.

I say two for the price of one because the actual 1993 Rolls- Royce Silver Spur is available to be rented at luxury and classic cars rentals in Las Vegas.

And I say two for the price of one because you get the optimum luxury performance and the quality of royal proportions. This was the car that drove the monarchy. And you yourself could be a part of that, on board this royal ride.

Rent a Sports Car in Las Vegas, Nevada

Auburn was an American car manufacturer which produced cars from 1900 to 1936. Like so many other early automobile manufacturers, Auburn automobiles were created by makers of horse-drawn carriages Frank and Morris Eckhart of Eckhart Carriage Co. The first car models were experiments as they were hand-built cars and distributing them only in the Auburn area.

Over time, Auburn cars then came to be known for their advanced engineering and striking appearance. The stylings of this car were primarily designed by notable automobile designers Gordon Buehrig and Alan Mealy. These imaginative designers were hired by Erret Loban Cord when he ran the company from 1924 to 1937. The advance engine was a flat-mounted single-cylinder placed in the center of the car and produced 10 hp(7.5 kW). An A.2- speed planetary transmission was also fitted to complement the makings of the Boattail Speedster.

Because of material shortages during the World War I, plus the financial fall-out in the depression era market, manufacturing over at Auburn became to costly and the plant eventually had to be closed down. Today, however, their art deco headquarters in Auburn has become an automobile museum and was made a National Historic Landmark in 2005.

But even with the untimely demise of the automobile company, their legacy of creating classic cars have been immortalized by the imprint their products left in American culture. In movies and television alone, Fred Astaire can be seen driving a Cord 810 Convertible in the 1937 musical comedy film “A Damsel in Distress.” And in the 1974 film “The Great Gatsby,” Bruce Dern was featured cruising in a 1927 Auburn 8-88.

The 1936 Auburn Speedster also appeared in many Remington Steele episodes as the designated company car. Remington Steele, I might add, was the television series that starred Pierce Brosnan. The role ultimately got him compared to Roger Moore, which then led to him being considered and then eventually grabbing the coveted role of suave super spy, Agent 007 himself, James Bond.

In addition to this, the 1984 Indiana Jones installment “Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom,” the Speedster was also featured in the opening scene as the car being driven by the character Short Round.

It is really unfortunate that such revered cars from the United States were untimely killed by the Great Depression, especially when the plug was pulled at the height of these cars’ automotive lives. Nevertheless, there is comfort in the knowledge that the remnants of their greatness can still be felt and relived in no less than the magical city of Las Vegas. Here, the glory days of the Speedster are again rejuvinated in the showrooms (and then on the road) of classic car rentals.

Rental car dealers in Las Vegas offer you a wide array of rides from the classic to the exotic to the luxury types. And here in Vegas, you are sure to find an Auburn Speedster waiting to take you for that roaring twenties spin. It is also a treat to know that these car rental companies likewise offer a lot of services in their easy-to-access websites. Car information on models, rental prices, policies and reservations are acquirable in this websites. VIP offers such as a personal driver, 24-hour emergency access, and pick up services are attainable upon request.

So for whatever reason it may be, take a ride on classic rental. If you are a fan of Remington Steele and loved Pierce Brosnan driving this car, you’re sure to enjoy turning the wheels on this baby. Or even if you’re just simply a lover of classic cars, there’s no reason for you to venture out to Vegas hop in on one of these great American classics.

Luxury Rentals in Las Vegas, Las Vegas, Nevada

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

It is said that the first car rental started in 1916 when a Nebraskan named Joe Saunders lent out his Model T to a traveling salesman. The salesman needed the car for a date with a local girl.

Then car rentals passed some bad reputation in its history when it became associated with bootleggers, bank robbers, and prostitutes. Yes, that was a dark time in car rental history. But when the 18th amendment was repealed in 1933, the industry bounced back in prime form and eventually regained its respectable reputation.

After World War II, the industry rapidly grew together with the boom of the airline industry. One of the pivotal strategy for its growth came into being when it started opening franchises near airports. The other strategy was by centering all its operation from airports and by aggressively advertising their services through the airlines. Bus companies also grew together with car rentals. The 20th century was the time of capitalizing public transportation needs.

And so it is today that the purpose of car rentals still has not changed. It is still connected with travel and special occasions. But it also offers us an alternative to experience sports, exotic, luxury, and classic cars without buying them. Unlike museums, rental cars allow us to experience the whole and delightfully genuine deal. One example comes in the form of the 1948 Ford Cabriolet Convertible. This car was created in the 1940 and judging by its age and value, the car should have its rightful place in a museum, and not on the streets.

But car rentals beg to differ. Car rentals show people that a car such as the 1948 Ford Cabriolet Convertible should not wallow in extinction and memorabilia. Because, for its style and appeal, it must also be praised on the streets as fashion models are appreciated on a runway.

The Ford Cabriolet Convertible has a car body style that has a folding roof. This body style was the primary body style until Cadillac came out with the closed-body. Due to threatened rollover security regulations in the 1970, the Cabriolet’s popularity diminished during the 1970’s.

So thanks to these classic and exotic car rentals, this type of model is still functional and can likewise be appreciated by the present generation. And unlike in the past, where you can only do it by visiting one of their franchises, car rentals are also now easy to access. They now have websites that offer a lot of services such as car models and fleets, rental policies, specials, and reservations. Commercial videos of these companies can also be seen on a lot of internet video streaming sites as well.

And of course, what better way to experience these cars in all their legendary makings than by renting one while in Las Vegas. Las Vegas, need I remind you, is the entertainment capital of the world. We work hard, so it is but reasonable to play as hard too, right? So stop spending your time in museums salivating over these classic cars. Come to Las Vegas. Let us experience the whole deal. On board a classic or exotic car rental here in Vegas, it’s about time you experience the real thing.

Discover Luxury in a Las Vegas Sports Car Rental

Is it the car that makes one famous? Or is it the driver who make the car famous? Or is it both?

The Ford Thunderbird is an American car icon that has been manufactured in the United States from 1955 to 2005. It was Ford’s response to Chevrolet’s Corvette, but it was not sold as a full-blown sports car upon its debut release. Instead, Ford called it a personal luxury car, a description, which opened up an entirely new market segment at that time. At its introduction in 1955, it outsold the much more expensive Convertible by twenty-four to one.

At its creation, the car had many suggestions for a name ranging from “Hep Cat,” “Whizzer,” “Beaver,” “Runabout,” to monikers such as “Detroiter,” “Arcturus,” “Savile,” “Coronado,” and the ever exotic “El Tigre.”

The name “Whizzer” was initially being seriously considered as the winning model name, before stylist Alden “Gib” Giberson’s suggestion of the name “Thunderbird” was accepted. Though it is widely believed that the name comes form the Native American symbol, it is really from an ultra-exclusive housing tract named “Thunderbird Heights.”

Retired GM executive Lewis D. Crusoe, Ford designer Frank Hershey, and Ford chief stylist George Walker are generally credited for creating the Thunderbird. The concept was said to be inspired by a sports car that the trio saw in Paris. And that sports car that gave them the inspiration is rumored to be the reputable Jaguar XK120.

Now with the history of the ride all covered, we can go back to our first question. Which entity attains the elusive nature of “fame?” Is it the car, the one riding it, or better yet, is it both?

Suffice it to say, the Thunderbird has been an American car icon that has been owned, driven, and ridden in by some of history’s most impressionable and yes, famous celebrities such celebrities such as Frank Sinatra, Marilyn Monroe, Arthur Miller, and Elvis Presley. The more “recent” throng of Thunderbird owners include Rosie O Donnell, Halle Berry, John Travolta, and the queen of talk herself, Oprah Winfrey.

But the list itself cannot answer our question. Because, we wonder, why did such big celebrities buy the car in the first place? Was their choice influenced by the sleekness and the quality of the Thunderbird? Or was it because they were influenced by the celebrities who first bought it? Or was it both? How do we even try to answer such questions?

If I were to put my two cents in (which I will a few words from now), I have a proposal. I think that for any of us to arrive at an answer, we must do one thing first: We need to experience riding this car. Yes, nothing beats the sureness of experiencing something first hand. We need to experience what it feels like with people watching us, greeting us, waving at us while we are riding the Thunderbird. There is that need to be a celebrity for one to truly see for ourselves which one the onlookers are checking out: the car or us. Yes, I know that proposal seems absurd, quite juvenile even. But, then again, maybe not.

That proposal is possible because the Thunderbird is available for rent at any sports, exotic, luxury, and classic car rentals in Las Vegas. And the good thing about this is that many luxury and classic car rentals in Las Vegas are easily accessed through their websites. These websites offer services such car information, pricing and reservations. They also have other car models that we may experience first hand to also know what makes these cars special. Luxury classic car rentals were made to give us the experience riding a lot of cars with no need of buying them. This time we can answer our questions.

Now, to live the lifestyle of the rich and the famous doesn’t seem too absurd anymore. And the best part of this is, we need not break the bank to score a ride on a celebrity car such as the Thunderbird. There is no need to buy the car because we can rent it. This time, that question of who makes which famous, remains a theory no longer. This time, we get first dibs on the ride itself.

Experience is still the all important thing. So discover what a ride in a luxury car rental in Vegas can bring you. And then, maybe, just maybe, you get to discover for yourself a ride through the celebrity lane. See you in Las Vegas.

Ride the American Way in an Exotic 1932 Ford Roadster Rental Car in Las Vegas, Nevada

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Hot-rodding is a popular American culture. The phenomenon was first covered by magazines. Glossy print names such as The Rodders Journal, Hot Rod Magazine, Street Rodder, Popular Hot Rodding, and Rod and Custom Magazine are just a few of the magazines that feature this staple activity in the American life.

In addition to print, hot-rodding likewise gained mileage in the visual wing of the media. Discovery Channel featured a lot of hot-rod documentaries such as Monster Garage, American Hot Rod, and Overhauling. And television shows such as My Classic Car and Horsepower TV also had dedicated episodes on topics about hot-rodding.

Tom Wolfe wrote about it in his book “The Kandy-Kolored Tangerine-Flake Streamline Baby.” Even the Beach Boys sang about it in “My Little Deuce Coupe.”

Hot-rodding mostly began in the 1930’s in Southern California where people started modifying light cars with big engines and started racing them on the vast and empty lake beds northeast of Los Angeles. The original hot rods were old cars that were reduced to weigh less and improve aerodynamics. After World War II, many small airports were abandoned in the country. In effect, these venues allowed hot rodders to race on marked courses. World War II also helped the hobby’s popularity especially in California where a lot of returning soldiers had been given technical training in the service to modify such cars.

At the heart of it all, the 1932 Ford Roadster was the car that every hot-rodder wanted. It was the car that changed the automobile industry forever. It was simple, lean and it had a coveted handsome body. It also had a very affordable engine, the V8, which rewarded the 1932 Ford Roadster with the reputation as the perfect car for a nation that was obsessed with speed.

But then just like like everything else, hot-rodding’s popularity started to wane. Car shows and drag racing divided the hot-rodding community. Then Detroit released muscle cars like the Plymouth Roadrunner and the Pontiac GTO. With these muscle cars, there was longer any need to put a Cadillac engine in a Ford Roadster. The Pontiac GTO could outperform any hot rod and it offered more passenger space. There was no longer any need to spend time to build and tune the car by oneself. The muscle cars had it all.

But today, the hot rod culture lives on. And in January 2007, hod rod culture even celebrated its 75th anniversary by releasing The 75 Most Influential “1932 Ford Hot Rods”. The list was commissioned by Ford where a panel of hot rod experts reviewed some four hundred seventy-four worthy cars and whittle it down to seventy-five cars.

So if you are interested to be part of the hot rod culture, I advise you to first try renting the car in one of Las Vegas car rentals. By renting it you would have a sample of experiencing the car, not just in some nostalgic showroom, but on the gravel itself. If you don’t like it, you won’t have any regrets because you can return it after renting. But if you like it (which I’m pretty much sure you will), then well and good.

Come visit the websites of these exotic car rentals in Las Vegas. These websites already offer car models, prices, rental polices, special offers and reservations. Live out and be a part of the American Way in an exotic rental such as the 1932 Ford Roadster. This is the American Way as you know it, discover it first hand here in Las Vegas.

Rev Up on A Sports Car Rental in Las Vegas

Thursday, October 2nd, 2008

Have you ever wondered what it feels like to race? You have seen all those race car films that it got you wondering, what does it feel like to ride through the streets at break-neck speed? And I am not talking about go-carts here. I am talking about the real deal, the Indy car. Now imagine more, what if you could drive that car in the streets of Las Vegas?

Impossible, you say. No way that can be possible, right? Wrong. With one of the craziest ideas to ever happen in car rentals, Las Vegas car rentals now offers you to rent an Indy race car. An Indy tandem roadster that is powered by a Chrysler 3.5 high Outpost V-6. The same engine that powers the Prowler race car.

Racing began after the successful creation of petrol-fueled engines. Before that time, people were only racing on horse-drawn buggies. The first race to be ever organized was on April 18,1887 and was done by Georges Buoton. The funny thing about that race was that he was the only one who showed up. So he won it with no competition. Then on July 22 1894, a race contest was organized by a Paris magazine Le Perit Journal . This time, more than one competitor showed up, Panhard et Levassor bagged first place.

It was in the following year that the first real race was held in France. The route was from Paris to Bordeaux. The first regular auto racing venue was Nice, France on March 1897.The international competition between nations and not on individuals began with the Gordon Bennet Cup.

The first American race was held on Evanston, Illinois on November 28, 1895 with a certain Frank Duryea winning it in 10 hours and 23 minutes. The first trophy to be awarded was at the Vanderbilt Cup.

Then racing began to have categories such as single-seater racing, touring car racing, production car racing, one-make racing, stock car racing, rallying, targa rally, drag racing, sports car racing, off road racing, historical racing, kart racing and many more.

So I hope that little history has help pumped you up to really go satisfy that race car itch. And of course, because we understand that you want things fast, sports, exotic, luxury and classic car rentals in Las Vegas can be accessed through their websites in the Internet.

The services are already there, rental policies, car model descriptions, and pictures. You can also avail of VIP services and reservations. So let us do things faster and reserve the fastest car available in these sports, exotic, luxury, and classic car rentals.

So, are we now ready? Have you decided on the color of you outfit? Have you prepared the video camera? Time to speed things up here in Las Vegas. Let us get those adrenalin pumping.

Rent a 1962 Austin Healey British Legendary Car in Las Vegas

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

You can’t buy this car anymore. You can only rent it.

The Austin Healey was a British brand of sports car that was last produced in the year 1972. The company was established through a joint venture set up in 1952 by Leonard Lord of the Austin division of the British Motor Corporation(BMC) and Donald Healey, a renowned designer and automotive engineer. In 1968, the joint venture came to an end after their 20 year agreement expired. Donald Healey left the company in 1968 when British Motor Holdings merged into British Leyland. Healey eventually joined Jensen Motors in 1952 and became their chairman in 1972. And in a nutshell, this marked the end of a great run of a sports car.

The Austin Healey, however brief this merger proved to be, managed to have three models built between 1953 to 1971. The models that were built on 1953 to 1959 were named Austin Healey 100. It was given that name due to the fact it was one of the few cars of that era which could maintain a speed of 100 mph or 160 km/h.

The next models were built on the year 1959 to 1967 and were called the Austin Healey 3000. It was suppose to be called the “Mille Miglia” after the famous sports car race, but the 3000 name stuck instead. The 3000 name comes from its 3000 cc engine. The last model, which was the Austin Healey Sprite was built in the year 1958 to 1971. These models were also alternatively called Frogeye, Bugeye or Spridgets.

Despite its short life span, the Austin-Healey still made its mark on popular culture in the UK and overseas. The father of Sam Witwicky’s character in the 2007 movie “Transformers” can be seen driving an Austin Healey, Eli Cash of the Royal Tennenbaums also has an Austin Healey 3000 as his ride, and Steve Martin’s character in the movie “Father of the Bride” drives a black Austin Healey.

The first car made for Mattel’s Barbie doll was a pink Austin Healey and in the music video “Everybody Wants to Rule the World,” Tears for Fears member Curt Smith drives through the desert of California on an Austin Healey. The Austin Healey Sprite also appears on number 9 on the AskMen list of Top 10 All-Time British Cars.

Organizations and events for Austin Healey enthusiasts also exist. There is the Austin Healey Club from UK and the USA . The Spridget 50-The Big Party was, in fact, just celebrated on May 24, 2008. It commemorated the official UK Golden Anniversary of the introduction of the Austin Healey Sprite.

Though there are really plans to revive the Austin Healey as of now you still can’t buy this car, you can only rent it. And why pass on an opportunity to roll in on one of the most impressionable Brit cars in history? Scoot over to Vegas and rent this sports car at one of the rental cars in the city. By renting it, you get to return to the past and experience one of these classic British sports cars. You may even rent an American sports car built on the same era and get to compare the products from the two different countries. That is what is great about renting, you can have one, two, and even more.

You don’t need to wait for this car to be produced in the near future, car rentals are here to give you that experience. Right here, right now. So I guess I’ll be seeing you soon in your Austin Healey in Viva Las Vegas.

Finding The Right Classic Car Restoration Parts

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

There is a love of classic cars that just cannot be stripped away from some people. It is more than just the captivation they have with the look of the car, it is also about the way they were built and the era that they came from. But as with anything classic, restoring these cars can be time consuming and expensive as parts are not always easy to find. Classic car parts can be extremely difficult to find, you may find that special part you are looking for on the other side of the country or even from the other side of the globe.

When looking for classic car restoration parts, it is always best to try and look around to see what you can find in your area. Starting here first will save you a lot of time and money by not having to pay for shipping costs. Remember, more often than not, classic car parts are heavier in weight than the parts are today and since the postal service charges for the weight, shipping expenses can be pretty high. So if you are able to avoid the mess of getting classic car restoration parts through the mail, all the better.

Buying Your Part Over The Internet

A lot of people seem to find the classic car parts that they need through the Internet on auction sites. These auctions are just regular people who are selling some of their own stuff. While most often this is a safe adventure, you must proceed with caution as there are scam artists out there just waiting to take your money. Classic car restoration parts are not cheap so make sure that you check out the seller as much as possible before sending them your money or any of your personal information.

Of course, there is only so much that you can determine about someone over the Internet. Since this is the case, your best bet when buying any classic car parts is to use a safe payment method such as paypal or your credit card because you, as the buyer, are offered a certain amount of protection through these payment methods. While it is great to get the classic car restoration parts you have been wanting, it is not worth giving away every penny in your bank account because you were too excited or impatient to take cautionary steps. Just proceed with caution when buying such items and you will be fine.

Extra! Extra! Read All About Car History!

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Model cars have been around for quite some time. Even I have to admit going through the phase of putting them together. Even as I write this, I can think of a few of the boxed sets that I would love to pick up from the shelves at the local store and piece together bit by bit. I also have to admit that my patience was never good. But, as with any other thing I have ever collected, there was one thing I always did. I always sought to learn the origin of that item. What’s its history? When did people start collecting them? Maybe I wanted to see if my elders were collecting some of the same things, or sometimes I might just have been looking to see how old a hobby mine was. Never the less, everything has a history and the model cars and the collection of them is no different. So where did it begin? Keep reading!

Birth of Model Cars

In the early 1900s not so long after the first real car was introduced, Germany started producing what would become noted as the first model car. Back then, since it was around the time of war, the only people who could really afford these toys were the sons of rich businessmen. These cars were called tin plate models. The first Die cast ones though, did not come about until the late 1920s or the early 1930s. By 1950 toy companies in Japan were producing these goods.

Model Cars Go Mainstream

The model car making companies went through a dry spell in the 1960s as it cost too much to produce these things. It wasn’t the products that were costing so much; it was the cost of employment that brought the slow down of producing these models. Today everyone loves to collect these old models more than when they first came out. Many companies closed down, while some switched to newer products that were either made of plastic or they later switched to the newer radio controlled cars. By the end of the craze, there were only four countries still producing the kits. They were United Kingdom, Germany, France, and Italy. As time went on, each company added more and more details to their models.

Transitioning to the Modern Era

Then in 1970, Italy burst onto the model scene with a bang. They lowered their prices, but still produced luxurious cars. They added more detail. Everyone was flocking to this brand. This brought more adults into the scene as it became more complicated to put the models together. By the 1980’s and the 1990s, these manufacturers went out west where it was cheaper to produce. More markets were set up. And now, with the progression of the World Wide Web, you can even buy these babies online!

The model car has come a long way. It has helped some kids bond with fathers as the boom of adding more detail to each models was implemented. Cars can be painted any color you want them to be. And recently, the United States created companies to produce these collectable toys as well. Making them a great trademark that continues to be some people’s favorite past times. Young and old and male and female are taking pride in the time and dedication it takes to put them together.

Bringing Exotic Hollywood and Las Vegas Together: Rent a Classic Chevrolet Camaro

Friday, September 12th, 2008

This car has gotten a lot of admirers. In fact, this car is so loved (or desired, I should say), that it is made an inspiration for songs as mentioned or referred in songs such as The Ramones with “Go Li’l Camaro Go”, Kings Of Leon’s “Camaro” and Bruce Springsteen’ s “Racing in the Streets.” The famous model that it is, the Camaro also gets featured in well-known video game series such as Gran Turismo, L.A. Rush,

Need For Speed Series, and Sega GT 2002. But to top it all, the ultimate reason why you should come to Las Vegas and rent this car, is that the vehicle mode of the Bumblebee character in the 2007 Transformers movie is, you guessed it, a Chevrolet Camaro.

The Chevrolet Camaro, before it became a celebrity in Hollywood, was a “pony car” manufactured by the Chevrolet Motor division of General Motors. It was introduced on September 26 1966 as a 1967 model. The Chevrolet Camaro was the model touted to compete with the Ford Mustang. This was so because once, an automotive press reporter asked the Chevrolet product managers, “What is a camaro?” They were told that a Camaro is “a vicious small animal that eats Mustangs.” But in reality, though, in French dictionary, a Camaro is a slang for “friend” or “companion.”

The Camaro shared its major components with the Pontiac Firebird which was also released in 1967. It can also be classified as an economical grand tourer or a sporty muscle car depending on the selected optional equipment. It is more sophisticated that the Mustang and had the Z28 & IROC versions. And if you wanted it custom made, you can put a Corvette engine on a Camaro. A Pony car by the way is defined as a compact, affordable highly styled car with a sporty or performance -oriented image.

Originally, though, Bumblebee was a Volkswagen Beetle in the animation series. Director Michael Bay chose to change it because the character reminded him of Herbie the Love Bug. So, the Camaro was granted the role of the much-loved Bumblebee because it had a friendlier appearance; especially that the character was inspired by Spielberg’s E.T. character. Hasbro did not mind of the changes as long as Bumblebee remained yellow in reference to the original character.

So,we have laid out the reasons in why you should come out here in Las Vegas and avail of the sports, luxury or classic car rentals that are available in the city. And indeed, the Chevrolet Camaro, the “companion” that it is will take you out on a ride through Las Vegas in Hollywood A-List style. So, it is either that you play out your best Shia LaBeuof impersonations or come out here and get ready to transform. Autobots transform and roll out!

Let’s all live our dreams in Las Vegas.

Live the Celebrity Life in a Classic Luxury Rental In Las Vegas. Rent A Lincoln Continental

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

Do you want to arrive in Las Vegas like a star? Have you always wanted to feel rich and powerful or do you just want to be like the king and rock & roll? Then there is only one luxury car that can help you get you there, enter the classic Lincoln Continental.

The Lincoln Continental had its claim to fame as one of the most sought-after rides in the 1950’s. With its $ 10,000 pricetag, it rivaled that of Rolls Royce as one of the most expensive cars in the world. Now why would the Lincoln Continental exude such an aura? Well, this was the car that chauffered the rich and the famous, back in the 1950s. Thus, it’s safe to say that only the chosen few could afford it. These lot came in the persons of the Shah of Iran, Nelson Rockefeller, Frank Sinatra and Henry Kissinger, among others.

Aside from wealth, the Lincoln Continental also exhibits a certain air of “power.” You see, back then, in the 1960s it was the parade limousine of then-president John Fitzgerald Kennedy. The limousine, codenamed SS-100-x, was custom-built by Hess and Eisenhart of Cincinnati, Ohio from a 1961 Lincoln convertible. Sadly, though, the Lincoln Continental was also the car that JFK was assassinated in, in 1963. But even after that tragedy, the Lincoln Continental still continued to serve the White House for many years as the official ride of the most powerful men in the United States.

The Lincoln Continental also made its memorable mark in the world of Rock and roll. No less than the “King,” Elvis Presley was also known to have owned one. Sure, it’s no pink Cadillac, but Elvis owned it. Elvis also chose the Lincoln Continental as one of many cars that he bought to give away as gifts.

Aside from all the rich and famous that owned it, the Lincoln Continental was also special because it has a unique design and the highest quality control that was ever seen in the automotive industry. The classic car was assembled mostly by hand and was made of top-of-the-line materials. The continental was only sold for a continuum of two years with only 3,000 units built. Because of its sticker price, which was only affordable for the rich and famous, and because of the tales of dealers that discourage potential buyers who were not deemed fit to own a Continental, this luxury car soon became a mythical fixture in the industry.

With all its historical and cultural value, the Lincoln Continental is one of the most sought out luxury cars of its time. And good news to all who want to ride it, you don’t need to look hard for the car, you don’t even need to buy it. Here in Las Vegas, a lot of luxury and classic car rentals abound. Just visit the websites and search the car you want to rent. They’re all there, the models, the rates, rental policies and reservations. So start booking your reservations and start practicing that smile and that wave of the hand in the process. Because on board the Lincoln Continental, you’re the celebrity. See you in Las Vegas.

Grab A Used Volkswagen Beetle. It’s Better Than The New One

Monday, August 25th, 2008

The VW Beetle is one of the worlds classic cars. It’s been around for about 70 years, and in that time has established itself as an icon amongst automobiles. And it’s still possible to find a good used VW Beetle, and personally I’d prefer a good used Beetle that’s 40 years old to a new one.

Yes the Beetle was so popular that Volkswagen reestablished production of the Beetle, and you can still buy a new Beetle today, allbeit a modern version of the old classic.

Production of the Volkswagen Beetle began around 1938. The idea for the Beetle originally came from Adolf Hitler who wanted a “peoples car” produced for the masses to drive, and also to help with the post WW1 unemployment problem. So in the early 1930s Hitler started a project to build a car for every German to drive, and Volkswagen went into production. “Volkswagen” is actually the German word for “peoples car”.

The original Volkswagen Beetle was designed by Ferdinand Porshe who later became famous for the wonderful “Porshe” range of cars which are still produced today. Porsche designed a rear engined car with an air cooled flat four cyclinder engine, according to some basic specifications from Hitler. Hitler expected the car to be inexpensive, so everyone could afford it, do at least 42 mpg and be able to carry 2 adults and 3 children.

Over the rest of the century the Volkswagen Beetle established itself as a classic car. Hundreds of thousands were built. The car offered reliable, cheap, simple motoring and lasted forever. It was well known to be bombproof, and there were even German promotional films shot showing the Beetle deliberately driving off the top of a steep sand dune, rolling over to the bottom and then driving off again, just to show how tough it was.

And even now it’s quite possible to buy a great used Volkswagen Beetle in good condition.

The market for good used Beetles is just as strong as ever. They are a classic car, and there are countless Volkswagen Beetle owners who have restored their Beetle to classic condition. Ther are car clubs based purely around VW Beetles, and the frame and the chassis is even the basis of a lot of other hand built vehicles.

For instance there are many dune buggies that are built entirely on a VW Beetle chassis.

So if you’re a car enthusiast and you’re looking for a classic car to restore, or even just one to drive around in one of the best cars ever produced, consider buying a used VW Beetle. There’s a very strong market for Beetles out there, but there is plenty of supply, and it’s quite possible to grab yourself a great used VW Beetle, restore it and be the proud owner of a classic car. I’d have a great used Beetle over a new one any day, it will turn heads much better than a new one and will hold it’s value better.

So become the owner of a second hand Volkswagen Beetle, you won’t regret it.

The History Of The VW Beetle. One Of The Worlds Classic Cars

Friday, August 22nd, 2008

The VW Beetle is one of the most well known cars in history. The beetle came out initially in 1938, and has been in production in one form or another for most of the years from 1938 to 2003. The VW Beetle is without doubt one of the most classic cars in history. And the history of the VW Beetle is an interesting one indeed.

The original idea for the VW Beetle, or what is also known as the VW Bug, came from Adolf Hitler. It is said that he had the idea of a “peoples car” in 1924 whilst he way in prison. He wanted a car that anyone could afford, and also to help with the unemployment problem that existed in post WW1 Germany. In 1933 the Nazi party came to power and Hitler raised the issue of building special roads for the peoples car, and in 1933 the government began a program of construction of “autobahns” for German drivers. “Volkswagon” (VW) is the German name for peoples car.

Hitler wanted the design project for the Beetle started and gave the job to Ferdinand Porshe, later to become very well known for the “Porsche” cars that bore his name. Hitler specified some criteria, including a top speed of 62 mph (100 kmh), at least 42 miles to the gallon fuel consumption, able to transport at least 2 adults and 3 children and to be able to sell for less than what was at the time the equivalent of 86 pounts (UK currency).

Thus began the history of the VW Beetle, arguably the most famous car in history.

The big question was the engine to be used and the placement of the engine, and in 1935 an Austrial engineer came up with a design for a flat four engine, Porshe having previously decided that the engine should be rear mounted. This engine was an air cooled engine, and was cheap to build, and this engine powered hundreds of thouands of beetles for the next 40 years.

And the name even came from Adolf Hitler. He specified a car that would “look like a beetle” so it was well streamlined, and hence the name “Beetle”. Then “Bug”. And the history of the VW Beetle records that that body shape changed little over many decades.

The basic style of the VW Beetle changed little over many decades, though of course there were many different models, but each model had the same basic beetle shape, and the engine changed little too. The manufacture of the Volkswagen Beetle stopped in 1980, at what point it had become the worlds most popular car.

The VW Beetle is not the worlds fastest car. It will, technically, do 0 - 50 mph in 13 seconds, a little slower than most cars today, but it had other features that made it popular. It was cheap to buy and run, simple to work on and reliable. It had only a small motor and, although originally required by Hitler to do 42 mpg, actually did a little over 30 mpg. That, however, is still very good compared to many modern cars.

That’s the basic history of the VW Beetle. It was and is one of the worlds classic cars. It spawned a whole generation of great small cars, like the VW golf, and sold hundreds of thousands. It has also been the basis of many other vehicles. For example many vehicles such as dune buggies are based on a simple VW Beetel chassis.

The history of the Beetle is an interesting one. And for those interested in owning a VW Beetle there is still a range of great quality second hand Beetles available. And there are countless restored Beetles and car clubs with many Beetle owners.

So if you’d love your own piece of automobile history grab a VW Beetle. The history of the VW Beetle has shown it to be one of the worlds great cars.

Exotic Sports Rental Car in Vegas Makes a Day in Las Vegas Classic

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Once I knew I was going to visit Las Vegas, I decided to do it in style and started searching for a classic car rental agency in vegas. What I found was more exotic rental car companies in vegas than I could dream of. They had everything; classic cars, exotic sports cars, even custom choppers! Believe me, this is the classic car lover’s dream car rental company in Las Vegas.

It took me a while, but I finally settled on a classic 1954 corvette. This is the ultimate vette so far as I am concerned and taking that elegant sports classic down the Las Vegas strip was very exciting. Passing all those high end casinos and restaurants, knowing I was turning heads in my sleek, classic sports rental car, had me feeling like I belonged there.

From one Classic Car Rental Rental Shop to another I drove East on Flamingo to Las Vegas Blvd where I visited the Auto Collections at the Imperial Palace Hotel and Casino. Arriving in my classic rental car set the mood for me. I was really looking forward to viewing some rare classic vehicles and I wasn’t disappointed!

This place had the ultimate classic car showroom!

There were at least a couple hundred cars there. Some of the most exotic and famous classics, like Johnny Carson’s 1939 Chrysler, were on public view. In the grand salon I saw classic Ferraris, Cadillacs and even a sports classic Bently that would accelerate the heart rate of any classic sports car fan.

If you love exotic classic cars and ever visit Las Vegas I suggest you make a point of touring the Auto Collections. The companies are open daily and the general tour only takes about a half hour.

Of course that didn’t compare to driving a classic through the strip in Las Vegas. After feasting my eyes on all those classic cars, I drove my own sports car rental to the Koi Vegas restaurant located on the center strip. It was a real pleasure to see the eyes of the valet when he realized he had a couple minutes behind the wheel of my classic car rental. The meal was a pleasure too.

Then I was back on the strip in my sporty vette, headed into a night of entertainment and games at the Las Vegas Hilton.

When I finally fell into bed that first night I was looking forward to continuing my tour in my sleek, sporty, classic rental car.

Celebrate Las Vegas Weddings by Renting a Classic Car Rental

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Nothing completes a perfect wedding than the befitting spectacle of the bride and groom taking off into the sunset. But a wedding set in Las Vegas takes more than the antediluvian riding off on a horse exit. In this city of glitz, taking leave on classic car rental more than suffices.

Weddings, like every other special occasion, entail a sense of reverie. And a Las Vegas wedding is a great opportunity to go all out and make that dream wedding a reality. For in Las Vegas, everything and anything is possible. A classic car rental can add that extra flair and glamor to your wedding. Being a dramatic departure from the ordinary, a classic ride can accentuate that fantasy feel that you and your guests will surely have a hard time forgetting. And what a comforting fact it is to know that Las Vegas has one of the biggest classic car rental industries in the country.

Now, imagine the sight of you, on your wedding day, descending from a Rolls Royce Silver Cloud III. This is no everyday ride, mind you, for the Rolls Royce Silver Cloud was, for a time, the Hollywood emblem of the stars and the affluent lot. The name Rolls Royce itself, already conjures up images of class and elegance, which then may have seemed out of your league. But in Las Vegas, a classic car rental of the same model can be had from select rental companies in the city. Now, you get to ride with the stars and not to mention, make a perfect grand entrance.

But if you are one to lean more on the wilder side of life, and is looking for a way to loudly express your style, don’t worry. Las Vegas classic car rental companies have a wide array of vintage car models to suit many preferences. A re-engineered 1958 top-down Corvette perfectly compliments the energetic and modish side of you.

Why rent a limo and be just like everyone else? Las Vegas is a city for new experiences; and while you’re having your wedding here, why not try out an exotic car rental as you and your hubby’s official ride. Exotic cars may be too loud for a wedding, but if your tastes fall under fun and memorable, go at it with a Lamborghini Gallardo or on an all-American Corvette Convertible.

It is a pleasure to note that Las Vegas exotic car rental and classic car rental companies come with special occasion packages. They can take care of chauffeur service and leave you hassle free from having to recruit a designated driver. But do remember to book a reservation. Being the Marriage Capital of the World, Las Vegas car rentals may just have a busy schedule. Thus, it is smart to play it sure and safe and to let your exotic car rental provider know ahead of time.

It is every bride’s dream to have a wedding that is different and memorable to her and her husband to be. And why not? A wedding is a special occasion that is meant to be remembered for more than a lifetime. Luckily, Las Vegas is a city grasps that understanding of the importance of making one couple’s fantasy wedding a reality. And it is good to know that classic and exotic car rental companies are there to drive you to a dream come true.

Upgrading Willys Jeep Brake Parts

Thursday, August 21st, 2008

Some Willys owners like to add modern upgrades to their vehicles while many feel it borders on sacrilege to use anything other than original Willys Jeep parts. Regardless of where you stand on this debate, the issue of safety has to be paramount.

Some of the original Willys Jeep parts just don’t stand up to modern driving. Because of this, even many owners who restore their Willys to original specifications end up using different Willys Jeep brake parts.

Willys Brakes May Not Be Up To Today’s Roads

The original Willys Jeeps weren’t designed for modern driving habits. They were meant for rugged off road use and not expected to get up to much speed. They were built to be reliable and cheap.

Stock Willys Jeep brakes aren’t inherently dangerous but don’t provide the same stopping power as the brakes on modern cars. It’s not something every stock Willys owner needs to be concerned about, but a little extra stopping power doesn’t hurt.

The real problem comes with Willys that have overdrive systems. Jeeps were not designed to get up to modern highway speeds and some owners install overdrives to give them extra velocity. Doing so without upgrading the Willys Jeep brake parts is asking for trouble.

Vacuum Assisted Brakes

A few models had vacuum assisted brakes and on many others the owners have added these Willys Jeep brake parts to aid stopping. The operation of a vacuum assist is simple. There is a chamber divided by a diaphragm.

While the engine is running, air is pulled from both sides of the diaphragm creating a vacuum. When the driver steps on the brake, air is let into the rear half of the chamber while a vacuum is maintained on the front. This causes the diaphragm to move forward where it pushes on the brake cylinder push rod, assisting brake application.

Contrary to popular belief, vacuum assist doesn’t make the brakes work better. It just makes the brake pedal work better. It requires less force to push the pedal, but the brakes have no more stopping power than before.

Bigger Brakes

To improve braking, the Willys Jeep brake parts needed are simply larger brakes. Most Willys were fit with 9″ brakes and upgrading to 11″ will substantially increase stopping power. Optimally you should replace both front and back brakes. However if money is tight, you will still see a significant improvement by replacing either.

If you have 15″ wheels rather than the more common 16″ wheels, you may have trouble fitting your rims back on after installing the larger brakes.

Your brakes are critical components and should be tinkered with only if you are an experienced Willys mechanic. If you aren’t, try to find someone who is and can oversee the project to be sure you don’t make any important mistakes.

Elvis Seen Driving Classic Rental Car in Las Vegas

Thursday, August 14th, 2008

As a city of high rollers, opulence, and Elvis; Las Vegas is not just any destination. It is an experience. And an excursion down the celebrated Vegas strip is not complete without the proper set of wheels. This is where classic car rentals come into the picture.

Sure, there are a bevy of exceptional transportation options available in Las Vegas. The city, after all, is a willing panderer to a cornucopia of tastes and preferences. It is a city teeming with car rental companies that outnumber most major cities. Some may opt for the generic taxi and bus, while others prefer luxury rental cars in Las Vegas for their allure and extravagance of an expensive ride. Some may even take on the more open, albeit wilder side of motorcycle rentals. And for those with hefty bank accounts, custom chopper rental is a fine choice. And exotic car rentals are perfect to the speed racers.

However, should your tastes fall under adventures, vintage, and standing-out,classic car rentals are the best deal for you. And in Vegas, where the King is a demigod and style is of the essence, one can never go wrong in rolling with the classics.

Classic rental cars are readily available in Las Vegas. A classic ride offers a feel for the early years of Vegas, whilst maintaining a modern-day road performance. Some great classic car rental firms offer VIP pick-up services to the client’s location. This means that upon landing, a ride will be waiting to take the itinerant to wherever he or she pleases. There are also several packages offered that already include meal and pre-set destinations, ensuring clients of a hassle-free drive down the highlighted strip. Classic cars can even work it at major events such as birthdays, anniversaries, or weddings. Some classic car rental providers also offer packages for special occasions.

And if you are worried about handling a classic car, you need not worry anymore. There are some rental service providers that give you a thorough run-through of the classic car that you just chose. If an on-the-wheel experience is not your type, classic car rental services in Las Vegas can arrange a private driver for you. This, though, comes at an added charge.

Whilst classic rental cars are for everyone’s enjoyment, most providers require clients to be at least 21 years of age with a valid driver’s license. That is, if the client is the one driving. An age cut-off of 25 years old is required for the more valuable models.

A classic rental car can span from $299 to $399 or more per day, depending on the model and make. If you’re only in Vegas for a short time, there are some 5-hour rentals that apply during the mornings and towards the later end of the day. Some rentals give discounts to multiple day rents too.

Like any other rental service, reservation is key. Not all car models or makes may be available. So it is smart to call in and reserve your vehicle of choice to avoid any unnecessary mishaps. And just like any other rental, your classic car rental comes with insurance. Insurance coverage can vary from one service provider to another.

Style, fantasy, and mirth converge in the Las Vegas escapade. And what better way to take a fill of the all the lights and sights than to roll into the city in the timeless elegance of a classic ride.

The Art & Spirit of the Exotic Sports Car

Tuesday, August 12th, 2008

Anyone who has seen the Lamborghini Reventon or the Aston Martin DBS knows that unmistakable feeling. It’s the thrill & the allure of the exotic sports car, overhauled & updated for the 21st century. Since their inception, sports cars have continually pushed the boundaries of both engineering & art. These are the cars that exemplify speed, power and beauty.

Alfa Romeo: The Grandfather of Exotic Sports Cars

Alfa Romeo first began producing race cars in Milan, Italy in 1910. Their first endeavor, the HP 24, turned some heads with its superior speed and handling. Chief Designer Giuseppe Merosi worked on all Alfa Romeo models from 1910 to 1923. When Merosi retired, race car driver Enzo Ferrari persuaded Vittorio Jano to leave Fiat and take over Merosi’s work.

In 1925, Alfa Romeo unveiled the P2 Grand Prix Car, Jano’s first car with Romeo and widely considered the first “supercar.” The P2 was powered by a straight-8 cylinder supercharged engine, and placed first in 14 Grand Pix races between 1924 and 1930. Today, the P2 Grand Prix is considered one of the most rarified of the collectible antique cars, with less than a dozen still intact.

Ferrari: High Performance, Luxury Cars

After racing Alfa Romeos in the 1920’s & 30’s, Enzo Ferrari decided that he wanted to build his own racecars. He prototyped a few models in the 1940’s, but it wasn’t until after World War II that he found success. Notably, Ferrari’s exotic sports cars took first place in the Formula 1 World Championships, 24 Hours of Le Mans and the World Sportscar Championships throughout the 1950’s.

Ferrari’s Gran Turismo series remains its most successful lines, with the 2007 599 GTB Fiorano bringing even more luxury and innovation to the table. Patrons of the Ferrari Club of America cite performance as the primary reason for purchasing a Ferrari over other collectible cars.

Lamborghini : Exotic Sports Cars for a New Generation

Ferruccio Lamborghini had a successful business building tractors in Italy before his eyes turned to the exotic sports car. And it wasn’t a love for performance that stirred his fire, but a disdain for Enzo Ferrari.

According to Lamborghini’s family, Ferruccio purchased a Ferrari 250 GT in the early 1960’s and was unhappy with the handling & response of the clutch. He brought it into Ferrari’s factory and met with Enzo Ferrari to voice his concerns. Ferrari was immediately upset with Lamborghini’s complaints so he mocked Lamborghini and sent him away. Lamborghini went home, dismantled the car and discovered that the clutches installed in Ferraris were from the same manufacturers he used for his tractors. He installed a new clutch and vowed to create a higher-quality, luxury sports car than Ferrari.

Aston Martin: Unforgettable Collectible Cars

Britain’s Aston Martin was founded by Lionel Martin & Robert Bamford in 1914. They designed exotic sports cars and drove in competitions, but it wasn’t until David Brown became managing director of the company in 1947 that they were able to establish themselves as a maker of high-quality, high-performance sports cars. They introduced the DB line (DB standing for David Brown) in 1950, and many of their models have become synonymous with antique and collectible cars.

It’s Not The Highest of Highs, But Love My V8!

Wednesday, August 6th, 2008

Was young back then, too young to drive so had to make due with watching those beautiful cars speed by as we traveled like molasses across the country in a station wagon (How embarrassing!) for vacation. Kept track of the cars saw in a notebook, and at the end of vacation, searched magazines to find the pictures of the cars to add to the notebook.

By the time was old enough to buy my first car, definitely in a gas crunch. Remember that? The whole country was on a strict schedule of odd and even days gas buying. It seemed like the end of the world, as car manufacturers came out with things like the Pinto and the Gremlin. Just could not see anyone tooling around town in something so small and so slow, well-mean, I was convinced that it might just be better to walk.

Bought a beat up Chrysler that got about 10 miles to the gallon. Didn’t care, it was big, beautiful, had lots of chrome and went like a bat outta, well, you know where. Would you believe went from that to a bicycle? Yes, it’s true, but don’t tell anyone or will claim it’s a lie. Had become an urban dweller with an eye on environmental issues. Could easily bike the few miles needed to go to get to work, and the grocery was close as well. The tricky part was night clubbing and riding the bike home, but hey, like Dads say, where there is a will there is a way.

Next choice for transportation was a small Honda motorcycle, which figured would be good on gas, easy to park at the over crowded college attended, and would get me home a lot faster after the clubs closed. After the first and only motorcycle accident, reviewed the love affair with muscle cars and bought a beat up Nova.

She needed a lot of care, but was willing to give that car what she needed and was hooked on 8 cylinders again. next auto was another Nova, and then, finally, started making a little money so set out to get a really fine car. Best choice? A 1995 Camaro Z28 with a LS1 V8, 5.7 liter and 275 horse power. Now this was a few years ago mind you, and gas was not priced like it is today. Still remember spending twenty dollars to fill her up and thinking what a decadent anti-environmentalist. But you know, did it anyway because there is nothing finer than hitting the road in a car that goes so fast it will scare you to pass someone.

Don’t drive the Camaro every day any more. She’s the just for fun car that takes sixty bucks to fill with gas and has trunk room for a few groceries, no more.

So drive something much less powerful now, just to get back and forth. Nohaven’t reverted to the bicycle, but some days it feels like it.

The Ins and Outs of Replacing Willys Jeep Tires

Tuesday, July 15th, 2008

When it comes time to buy new Willys Jeep tires there are a few pieces of advice to follow to ensure you get the best tires for the job while maintaining the look of your Jeep.

Should You Buy NDT Tires?

There is some debate about whether jeepers should stick with the classic military NDT Willys Jeep tires or opt for something more modern. To be accurate, the original Willys Jeeps did not use NDT tires. Although many jeepers believe they did, NDT didn’t come into common use until the 1950s. However everyone associates the look of those tires with Jeeps so most Willys owners want to use them.

The main drawback to NDT Willys Jeep tires is that they don’t handle as well as modern tires. Many Jeep owners find they perform poorly off road although others think they work just fine. A larger problem is that NDT tires can be downright dangerous on wet or icy pavement.

Your decision will be based on what you use your Jeep for. If your vehicle is more of a showpiece and doesn’t see a lot of rugged driving, then NDT tires are the way to go. If you drive off-road then you may have to try mounting NDTs and see how they perform.

If you are set on NDTs then you can get increased traction by taking them to a tire shop and having them siped. The shop will cut dozens of tiny cuts in the tread to give the tire more flexibility and surface area for gripping the road.

Correct Tire Inflation

Finding the proper inflation for your Willys Jeep tires is harder than you might think. Unfortunately a lot of drivers are riding around on tires with the wrong pressure and suffering uneven tire wear and poor traction.

The right pressure is probably not the pressure in your Jeep manual. That pressure is only right if you are running a completely stock vehicle on normal surface streets. Optimal pressure will change if you’ve customized your Jeep in ways such as adding heavy accessories like winches, or if you are using non-stock tires.

The best pressure for your tires is the pressure that has the edge of the tread and the center of the tread contacting the ground with equal force. To find the perfect inflation, squirt a chalk line refill onto the tread of your tires. You don’t have to do all four but should do one in the front and one in the back. Create a band a couple of inches across that covered the tread from edge to edge.

Drive slowly down the road for a while then get out and see where the chalk is wearing off the tire. If it’s wearing off the edge you are underinflated. Center wear means you are overinflated. Adjust the pressure and try again until you get even wear across the chalk band.

Peugeot Cars, Far Removed From Their Coffee Grinding Heritage

Thursday, July 10th, 2008

The Peugeot Company, started by the Peugeot family originally began its life as an ironmonger. Instead of cars the main items manufactured were coffee grinders and bicycles. It was not until 1876 that the company first started to make cars for the French public. The first cars were steam driven although in later years, with the help of Daimler; the internal combustion engine was adopted as the preferred means of propulsion.

In 1891 the first of these petrol driven cars was driven from Beaulieu-Valentigney to Paris and then onto Brest. The acclaim gained for this amazing feat cemented the car in the hearts of the French public and as a result the company sold three hundred cars in 1899, a marked improvement on the five sold in 1891. The range was further improved when the steering tiller was replaced with the wheel and electric ignition systems were added in 1902.

Development naturally continued in the 1910’s when Peugeot once again entered the world of motor sport. With the help of Ettore Bugatti the cars were further improved with stylistic design and an engine that produced an impressive ten horsepower. Examples of these models can still be seen today in the French National Automobile Museum located in the town of Mulhouse.

After the First World War Peugeot steamed ahead with production, producing their one hundred thousandth car in 1925, the cars of this era predominantly had three cylinder engines although at this time the company were experimenting with two stroke diesel models. Strangely in 1926 cars were produced for the first time with front brakes, previously cars had only had braking systems in the rear. During the late twenties Peugeot even released a sports car using a six cylinder Bugatti engine that had been supercharged.

The thirties saw Peugeot produce the first ever electrically retractable roof, a development that the company is still proud of. During the war the company also produced an electric car named the VLV Electrique. After the war the company was also one of the first to re-establish production lines selling almost fourteen thousand model 202’s in 1946. During the fifties Peugeot still managed to dominate the European markets. In 1955 the model 403 was the first car ever to break the one million units produced mark. Also during this decade the company entered the American car market.

The sixties and seventies were a seminal period for the company. The release of the Pininfarina designed 404 dawned a period of success all over the world in terms of sales as well as success in the Safari Rally. This period also saw Peugeot produce its five millionth car. The company managers also decided to expand in this period, taking over rival manufacturer Citroen in 1975 thanks to the financial assistance offered by the French government. The new company was labelled PSA although this was purely a parent company as both members of the group wanted to keep the identities of the two brands distinctly separate. The expansion however did not stop there; the company launched a successful bid to take over the European division of Chrysler in 1978.

This expansion meant that the company has overstretched itself and the early eighties were a time of financial uncertainty for PSA. Thankfully, the release of the immensely popular 205 in 1983 meant that the company was able to revive its fortunes and carry on producing distinctly French cars. Today, despite having to close the Coventry factory the company is still striving to produce cars that have a French nature and are popular with drivers of all ages. The motoring giant may be far removed from its humble coffee grinding heritage, but the traditions of this family company have not been forgotten.

Motoring expert Thomas Pretty looks into the history of Peugeot cars from the turn of the century to the modern day.
