Consider this possibility

Any key word or phrase that’s making big bucks on Overture is probably making big bucks on Google as well, perhaps even more, right? So try this experiment:

Search for a specific phrase on the Overture tool. When I entered a phrase on the day I wrote this article, I found a company known as SEO Inc. that was able to pay $8.01 per click, followed by SEO Advantage at $8.00, and Online Web Consultants at $6.50. Other bidders appeared slightly below them in the $3.00 range all the way on down to some who wouldn’t pay more than a dime per click.

Now, if a company is able to pay that much money for a mouse click on Overture, it is probably able to pay that or more on Google. Even if that particular company isn’t advertising on Google, you can be pretty sure that the same key phrase is coming near the same bid cost from other companies who do advertise on Google. So what that means is there is no way that you can more than likely afford NOT to have some site pages posted somewhere that are targeted to those sweet-paying words.

All you have to do is use Overture’s pricing tool to find the highest-paying key phrases that are similar to your web page and then make those keyword phrases to start advertising similar ads. If all goes to plan, you can perhaps double, triple, or even quadruple your AdSense money without needing any improvement in traffic or click-through rate.

Hi I am a semi retired administrator. I am far from a guru. About the only thing that gives me right to write this article is that in two years I haven’t lost any money. I’m not rich either. I gobbled up the new information and soon put it to work.

Adsense and Adwords are both programs under the control of Mother Google. Adwords and Adsense are like cousins, not the same family but still related. The way I distinguish between the two is Adwords costs you money and Adsense makes you money.

If you search for something on Google, there are two or three distinct areas in the resulting search page. There are the top two or three highlighted ads, the left side of the window and the right side of the window. The ads highlighted at the top of the page and the section on the right hand side of the page are Adwords Ads. Each one of them has four lines, a headline with 25 or less characters, two lines of explanation or details with 35 or less characters and the destination URL with 35 character or less. These 130 characters are all you get to create an ad.

Adsense is visible on a lot of website pages now. The ads are usually in a text format with one two or three ads in a box captioned by “Ads by Google”. If you go with keywords then you should have a list of keywords that people may be searching for when thinking about your product. Google has tools that will help you with keywords. It also has tools for the other method of promotion, URLs. It will suggest specific URLs that are relevant to your ad. You can also put in other sites if they have other Adsense ads on it.

With Adwords you have to do some homework. First off you have to have something to sell. It can either be your own product or someone else’s. I recommend if you want to be an affiliate (sell someone else’s product) that you use either Clickbank or Commission Junction. Clickbank deals only in digital products e.g. Ebooks or reports that can be downloaded over the internet. Commission Junction deals with all forms of sales, hard goods and digital products.

After you compose the ad, research keywords or URLs relevant to your subject matter. Use Google to find both for you. With the keyword tool, you enter the destination URL and Google figures out the keywords for you. With the URL tool, there are a number of ways to get URL suggestions. You can enter a specific destination, a specific subject, or some relevant URLs and Google will come up with suggestions for Ad placements. Keep the ad and the associatied keywords and/or URLs very specific and tightly woven. Google rewards directness.

You can use the standard Google search box on your site and the user can then search the web or even your site. When you feel more comfortable, you can change the look of the Google search box, essentially customizing it by changing the colours and using your logo.

Understanding the Google AdSense Report, when you log into your Google AdSense account, you are automatically taken to the page where you can view all your AdSense activity. On the Reports tab, you’ll see ‘Today’s Earnings.’ This is the approximate amount you have earned today in your Google AdSense account. Earnings are not final at this point and could be adjusted for invalid clicks or fees.

It’s interesting to look at the breakdown. As you can see, AdSense for Content, which refers to the targeted ads appearing on the pages in which you have written content, is listed first. Here you will see the number of page impressions listed in the first column. While a page impression is generally the same as a page view, that is not always the case. What is so important about an invalid click and how will it affect me? More than anything, an invalid click is a big no-no and it will get your account terminated faster than anything else. Having said that, an invalid click is when a publisher clicks on their own ads to add to their earning potential. It’s also when a publisher asks others to click on their ads just to raise their revenue. It also raises the advertiser’s costs and Google won’t tolerate this. Google AdSense has state of the art technology and they know what’s going on.

Invalid clicks also happen when someone uses robots to click on ads or automated software. It is any deceptive practice used to click on ads.

Invalid clicks are also unnecessary as there are plenty of money-making opportunities with valid clicks. With an optimized website, useful content, and attractive ads, there’s no reason for anybody to even entertain the idea of using invalid clicks.

Having control over your AdSense account

You the publisher, have complete control over the advertisement that runs on your site. You can choose to run only image ads, only text ads, or a combination of both. Google recommends that you choose a combination of both to maximize your earning potential, but the decision is yours.

When making your ad decision, you also have the freedom to choose which type of ads run across your entire account (image or text) or you can narrow that decision to what type of ad might run on a particular page.

As of right now, you are not able to differentiate your image ad click rate from your text ad click rate. You can of course, differentiate your click rate from one site as opposed to another site. Say, for example, you run only image ads on one site and only text ads on another site. By setting up channels to track both sites, you can see which site has the better click rate. Of course, you have to take into consideration there would be more factors than whether you were running text or image ads. The content, the placement of the ads in general, even the colour could make a difference.

Is it possible for me to have more than one site for my Google AdSense account? Yes. In fact, the more sites you have displaying ads, the more money you will make. You don’t even have to notify Google of the new sites. Make sure though, that any new site you add conforms to Google AdSense program policies, because if your account gets terminated for any reason, you would not be able to display the on any of them.

All you have to do is copy and past the same ad layout code you previously copied and pasted to your original site.

How can I make sure that my account will not be disabled? Google AdSense program policies make no allowances for deceptive practices. The most important thing a publisher can do to ensure the integrity of their site is to be aware of what is happening on your site.

Google has made it abundantly clear not to click on your own ads or ask others to do so. But what about practices a publisher may not purposely carry out?

Make sure that ads associated with Google never appear in an unrequested pop-up. Don’t be talked into purchasing traffic for your site that may contain adware.

How to Apply to the Google AdSense Program. Applying for a Google AdSense account is quick and easy for any interested webmaster. Just point your browser to Google /AdSense and click on apply. Click on the drop down arrow under account type and select whether you’re an individual or business. If you’re not sure which one to choose, click on the question mark to the left. Next, select your country or territory.
