This is a sample of what it is like to fly on a private jet. Everything is at your command, you don’t have to do any work, and you don’t have go through any of the hassle of passing through security or paying ridiculous transfer fees. A Symbol of Purpose

Charter flights symbolize a company that has direction, financial strength, and purpose. It is a great idea to conduct meetings or even prep employees on a private jet, because it is a comfortable and professional atmosphere that works wonders.

Charter Airlines: A Better Way To Charter A Flight

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Charter airlines offer low prices and excellent customer service. If you want to fly using a private jet, it is much smarter to hire a charter airline than it is to simply rent a freelance private jet. Charter airlines have the ability to offer package deals and membership programs which ensure that you can benefit from their services.

First of all, charter airlines provide a very comfortable way to fly. Second of all, charter airlines offer the best customer service in the airline industry. Finally, it makes good economic sense to hire a charter airline, because you will save a lot of money and time if you a hire a charter airline.

Taking It Easy

Charter airlines work to ensure that you have a pleasurable and very relaxing flight. They offer ample space, hot and cold food, and they generally create a peaceful traveling environment. Their primary mission is to provide a wonderful air service, and in this way, they can garner long term clients to create business relationships that are mutually beneficial.

Many people have provided testimonials which affirm that charter airlines provide great comfort and organization. When you charter a flight with a charter airline, you can take it easy. No airport hassles, no long lines at check-in, no annoying security processes, no delayed or cancelled flights.

Also, companies can actually conduct meetings on charter flights, which is extremely difficult on commercial flights. People who want to work and optimize their time can really benefit from taking a charter flight, simply because there is ample room and quietude for them.

Charter Airlines Hire The Best Staff

Jobs in the airline industry are extremely competitive, and charter airlines hire only the best candidates to work for them. For this reason your pilot and flight crew will be the best of the best. They will cater to your every need. Charter flights give passengers the ability to determine their own itinerary. You decide when you want to eat. You decide when the lights go off. You decide when you want to have a meeting onboard.

Charter airlines create a comfortable and professional atmosphere, because the staff is elite professionals who know that they must provide excellent customer service. The customer service on charter flights is amazing. You will see when you fly with them for the first time. My first charter flight was by far the best experience I ever had in the air.

Your Money Is Important

Don’t waste your money by buying bulk tickets on commercial airlines when you can pay less and get more with charter airlines. If you hire a charter airline, you will receive better service at a lower price, and you will be flying in a private jet. Several new companies have employed a new strategy which has worked very well.

Companies offer memberships to their clients. When clients become members, they can enjoy great discounts on their flights. You can check membership based air charter’s website to learn more about this. In any case, if you look at the numbers, it simply makes more sense to fly with a charter airline.

The History And Development Of The Belfast Airports

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Belfast currently has two airports, City and International. For travellers flying into either airport the use of car hire services will open up both the city of Belfast and the surrounding countryside. The local area is heavily dependent upon road transportation and hence a hire car is the perfect travel companion. But what are the histories of these twin airports, how does each service the local area and how are both expecting to develop in the future?

Belfast City Airport, also known as George Best is located in the port area of the city. It is a relative newcomer in the British air transportation network; its current name was gained in 2006 after the death of Belfast’s favourite football son. Operations at Belfast City Airport have been ongoing since the thirties when the site was used extensively by the Royal Navy. At this time the Royal Air Force were using a different site, the nearby Aldergrove location that would eventually become the larger of the two airports servicing Belfast.

Military use continued at the harbour site and in 1983 airlines realised the benefits of the site and commercial flights were commenced. Today it is owned By the British Airports Authority who in turn is owned by the Ferrovial group, although the sale of the airport is expected in the next twelve months. Naturally the airport contains all of the usual auxiliary services such as car hire desks, shops and restaurants.

Belfast international Airport is the larger of the two airports and is around thirteen miles from the city. As previously stated it was formerly known as Aldergrove although locals still use this name. The site has a strong military heritage and a connection with the Royal Air Force that continues to this day. In fact the runways at Belfast International Airport are shared by the RAF who fly operations from the Aldergrove base. In terms of passenger numbers the airport is the busiest in Northern Ireland handling around five million passengers annually. Flights go to destinations all over the world to Africa, the Caribbean and America. With such an international client base a number of companies have placed car hire desks, shops and restaurants to extract further revenue from passengers.

As a result of the government white paper ensuring all airports produce a master plan for expansion Belfast international has put forward a number of different objectives for the next thirty years. These development goals include an extension of the check in hall, the construction of a new South pier and the creation of a multi storey car park to accommodate passenger vehicles and car hire fleets.

As with all master plans the reasons behind the expansion objectives are to increase passenger numbers and hence revenue, part of the plans for the airport includes a complete destruction of the existing terminal and the building of a new terminal filled will the retail outlets and car hire desks that are the hallmarks of any modern airport. In as similar vein George Best is also planning expansion although it is more restricted by its surroundings, a result of being located near to residential areas.

The twin airports provide the residents of Belfast with an important link with the world. While the city airport focuses upon flights to domestic airports adjoined to major cities, the international airport acts as a gateway to the destinations all over the planet. As the city grows it is doubtless that its servicing airports will grow to accommodate a larger population.

Air travel expert Thomas Pretty looks at how car hire Belfast airport services have been integral to the twin site’s development.

The History And Development Of Edinburgh Airport

Wednesday, October 22nd, 2008

Edinburgh Airport is widely regarded to be the largest and busiest in Scotland. In the past twelve months it has handled around nine million passengers and in terms of UK airports is the seventh busiest. Its location is a mere eight miles from the city of Edinburgh and with a wide variety of auxiliary services such as shops, restaurants and car hire desks it employs a large number of local residents. But what is the history behind Edinburgh airport, how has it managed to assert a position of primacy over the other airports in Scotland?

Like many airports within the UK the origins of Edinburgh are military. It was during the First World War that the Turnhouse Aerodrome was constructed. 1915 saw the inaugural flights although the planes that flew into the site used a grass, rather than tarmac landing strip. The grass runway continued being used until the outbreak of the Second World War when the air ministry, once again requisitioning the site paved the runway to allow larger planes to land safely. It was not until two years after the end of the war that the Edinburgh site was finally retuned to civilian use.

In 1947 the airport was being used by British European Airways and five years later the runway had to be extended to accommodate the new larger passenger planes. At this time a new terminal was constructed with services such as shops, cafes, car hire desks and restaurants to improve the passenger experience. This process of expansion was continued in the seventies when the site had a further runway extension and another terminal built. One again this terminal was filled with the car hire provisions, cafes and shops that are hallmarks of the modern airport.

During these early years destinations available to passengers from Edinburgh Airport were limited to domestic airports within the UK. It was only in the eighties that flights to Amsterdam and Dublin were started although the popularity of international flying soon grew. By the nineties flights were available to many European destinations in France, Germany and Spain as well as transatlantic flights to two airports in the United States. To accommodate the greater passenger numbers a terminal extension had to be constructed, this contained all of the usual auxiliary services such as car hire desks and retail outlets to further enhance the profits of the airport.

Like all UK airports Edinburgh has had to produce an expansion plan that details the development of the site over the next thirty years. Part of this development includes an expansion of the departures lounges and other waiting areas complete with retail space for car hire companies and shops. In addition though the plan put forward by Edinburgh Airport executives included a new pier attachment to the terminal and a resurfacing of the runway that will comprise a billion pound investment in the site. Further in the future the site also expects to gain planning permission for an extended runway to allow for larger transcontinental aircraft and another terminal to cope with the increased passenger numbers.

Edinburgh airport has evolved from humble beginnings into a modern airport complete with all of the usual accoutrements such as car hire provisions, road and rail links as well as retail services. If the plans for expansion go ahead the primacy of the site within Scotland will be somewhat assured whilst the operability will be increased. As Scotland’s most important air transportation link development is a very important element to any future plans.

Air travel expert Thomas Pretty looks at how car hire Edinburgh Airport services have been instrumental in the site’s development.

Private Jets for a Bargain

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

You want to charter a flight, but you are afraid of the steep cost. This has occurred many times to many people, but never fear, because things are changing in the airline industry. Nowadays, charter airlines are lowering their prices and offering package deals to small and large businesses. Many of these deals offer prices that are way lower than commercial airlines, so many companies are now chartering private jets instead of traveling business class on a commercial airline. There are several reasons for this. First, traveling on a private jet is very comfortable and relaxing. Second, the customer service on private jets is unequalled. Third, it is becoming more economical to travel on private jets, as stated before. Finally, traveling on a private jet enhances a company’s business image.

The Comfort of Private Jets

Why is it so comfortable to travel on a private jet? There are many reasons. First, you have a lot of space. You can lay down, lounge, sit back, and still have space. This is a really wonderful benefit to private jets. Also, you determine the schedule. You plan the itinerary, and you decide when you want to eat. You avoid the hassle of commercial airports, in which everyone is cramming into security lines. You don’t have to deal with the stress of delayed or cancelled flights. You can fly in peace, and you are the master of your domain. Private jets and charter flights are really comfortable. I would know, because I’ve flied on them myself.

These Companies Care

Unlike their mainstream competitors, charter airlines care about their customers. Perhaps they want to cultivate long term relationships with business partners, or perhaps since they are smaller businesses, they are more involved in the human element of business. Whatever the case, you will enjoy the best aircraft customer service of your life when you travel on a charter flight. Charter airlines hire only the best of the best, remember. So, the air stewardesses and pilots on your flight will provide the greatest air service. They will dedicate themselves to ensuring that you have a great flight. It is such a pleasure to fly on a private jet, because these people care.

The Economical Factor

For large groups of people, or companies, it makes way more financial sense to charter a flight than it does to buy tickets on a commercial airline. This is because charter airlines have significantly lowered their prices in the last 20 years, and now, companies are starting to understand that it makes way more financial sense to take a charter flight. Also, everyone has a much better time when they fly on charter flights. Also, there are several new charter airlines such as AirCompair that are offering a new, pioneering deal that has enjoyed huge success. This deal goes like this: The company offers memberships to its clients, and when they sign a one year membership, they then receive huge discounts, discounts so great that one cannot ignore them. This is a great plan, and many people are very happy with it, because these charter airlines have a history of being reliable and trustworthy with their clients.

Fight the Bureaucracy: Charter A Flight

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Commercial airlines rob customers of their money. The price of an average plane ticket is astronomically high, and the customer service of most commercial airlines is pitifully low. These airlines are so full of bureaucracy that they seem to have forgotten about the human element of doing business. They are careless, greedy companies that seek to wrench money of out people instead of actually provide them with a service in exchange for a reasonable sum of money. However, there is one great alternative to this dead system. Private jets, which once used to be only for the rich and famous, are now reasonably priced, and they are giving commercial airlines a run for their money. This is because private jets offer amazing customer service and an escape from the airport hell of commercial travel. In addition, private jets are becoming more and more affordable. Read this article to learn more about charter flights.

The Friendliest Staff Available

Charter airlines focus heavily on providing excellent customer service to their passengers. This is because, unlike commercial airlines, charter airlines want to cultivate relationships with businesses so that they may lock up some long term clients. So, the pilots, stewards, stewardesses, and other flight crew on charter flights make it their highest priority to ensure that you have a great flight. In fact, they are so adamant that you fly well that they go out of their way to help you. It is noted that a huge percentage of people have reported extremely positive results in regards to their experience on private jets. The truth is, they are trained to understand that the passenger is the most important person on the plane. So, they devote everything they have to making the passenger happy. Remember, as the passenger, you make all the decisions. You map out the travel itinerary, you order the meals, you decide what movies you want to watch. It is truly the most amazing customer service experience you can have while flying.

Escape From Anxious Travel

You don’t have to be humiliated by overzealous security guards. You don’t have to put up with airlines losing your luggage. You don’t have to deal with irritating, loud people around you. You don’t have to deal with claustrophobia. And you don’t have to pay exorbitant ticket prices and get nothing in return. Charter flights offer peace and tranquility. You can sit and reflect, play cards, and do whatever you want, but the key is, you decide the terms. Also, there’s a lot more space. On a private jet, traveling is fun and relaxing. It is by far the most positive flying experience I have ever had.

No More Monopolies

Most people still believe private jets are hugely expensive, but the truth is, their prices are getting more and more affordable. Remember, charter flights bestow you with a huge variety of benefits that you wouldn’t get with a commercial airline. Even if a private jet was slightly more expensive, it would still be more worth it to rent the jet than it would be to fly commercially, due to the services that the charter flight provides. In any case, more and more businesses are renting private jets because they understand that private jets are very positive for their pockets and their minds. You can have peace of mind, literally and financially, when you fly with private jets. It is simply the most comfortable and cost-effective way to fly. Finally, there are a few companies that are making it even more affordable. Companies like Air Compair provide memberships to their clients in exchange for airline discounts. It’ a wonderful idea, and it seems to be working for them.

Cloudsurfing: The New Class of Private Jets

Monday, October 20th, 2008

Chartering a flight has never been easier or more affordable than now. The fact is, private jets provide passengers with a very pleasurable flying experience, one that no commercial airline can verily duplicate. The benefits of renting a private jet or chartering a flight are manifold, and I will expound upon them here. First of all, private jets offer some of the most amazing customer service in the entire world. The customer service on private jets is paramount, fantastic, and unequalled. These charter airlines offer service that you will never forget, because it is so wildly better than the service you are used to. Second, you will able to avoid all of the hassle, stress, and anxiety that comes with flying commercially. Thirdly, renting a private jet can do wonders for your company image, especially if you manage to cultivate a relationship with a private jet company. Fourthly, charter flights are becoming increasingly more economical for a variety of reasons, so in order to receive the most services from your dollar, it is advisable to charter a flight.

The Passenger Is King

Charter airlines train their employees to do whatever it takes to satisfy their passengers and then exceed their expectations. These jobs are highly competitive, because private jet employees earn significantly more than commercial air employees, on average. Therefore, only the best of the best work for charter airlines. However, these people are entirely devoted to providing you with the most comfortable flight possible. You could always buy a ticket on a commercial airline and receive no care whatsoever, or you can charter a flight and receive world-class service. In charter flights, the passenger has all the power. You decide the travel itinerary, meals, and movies/music. Most charter airlines offer their passengers the option to order food from a variety of exquisite caterers. In any case, you will be able to fly exactly as you want to.

Instead of Humiliation, You Get Relaxation

Flying with commercial airlines is a stressful process. First, you have to arrive at the airport a long time before your flight leaves. Second, after all that waiting, there’s a good chance your flight will be delayed or canceled. Third, the airlines are charging more and more for tickets while they take away more benefits. They are hoodwinking pasengers, fooling them simply with their brand names. In addition, the seucrity process can be humiliating and embarrassing, and once you get on the flight, you will have to suffer through babies crying, loud and smelly people, and other chaotic types. When you fly on private jets, you can avoid all of these difficulties. You drive directly up to your plane, you don’t go through any security, you are welcomed on the plane, you receive a huge amount of space to kick back and lay down, and you can have peace and quiet whenever you want. Chartering a flight is truly the most relaxing way to fly.

A Status Symbol

Businesses and companies that rent private jets will hugley benefit from the publicity they will receive from private jets. Employees, clients, partners, and competitors will all highly admire and respect companies that decide to use private jets as a form of travel. This is because private jets are still a status symbol, even though they are getting more and more affordable. Still, when people are buzzing about this phenomenon, that means people are talking about your company, and that’s a good thing. According to the saying, bad publicity is better than no publicity. This is good publicity. Even better.

The Best Kept Secret In The Airline Industry

Although the vast majority of people think that charter flights are very expensive, the truth is that are now very affordable, especially for small and large businesses. It is clear that your money goes a lot farther when you charter a private jet, as opposed to buying a first class ticket. There are a few companies that are taking the extra step and offering even lower prices to their clients. Companies such as AirCompair now offer membership plans wherein members pay a membership fee and then receive huge discounts to all flights in a one year period. If the customer chooses to renew at the end of the year, then the plan starts all over again.

Charter flights are wonderful, and I can say with real life experience that chartering a flight is the best way to fly.

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Malaga airport is currently the fourth busiest in Spain and last year over 13 million travelers passed through their doors. Today an astounding 23 UK airports provide flights to Malaga. Gone are the days of having to travel miles before even leaving the shores of the UK we can now travel from a huge variety of regional airports which makes travel to Spain easier than ever.

Summer 2008 saw great success at Malaga airport travelers got to their destination in good time after collecting their luggage. A series of new construction works took place in 2008 delays to and from the airport were expected but kept to a minimum. In July 2007 works to extend the already existing facilities were completed; new car parks, extra check-in desks, and further luggage carousels were added. Eventually the new runway at terminal 1 will open allowing a greater rate of passengers to pass through the airport. For instance they drop the airport taxes for a limited period or reduced the seat costs. By signing up to airline newsletters you often hear about these promotions before they happen. Be wary as some of these airlines have some hidden extras. You might have to pay to take luggage in the hold or pay for online check in. compare prices closely and you are sure to get the best prices.

Remember that often with these no frill airlines you wont be given food during the trip, make sure you know what to expect before flying. Advanced or express check in is a relatively new feature offered in air travel it quite often means that you no longer have to arrive so early for your flight; which means you will spend less time travelling and more time enjoying your holiday.

Friday, October 10th, 2008

For some people, their favorite pastime is traveling and exploring different areas around their own state or around the country. Unfortunately, as gas prices have risen so much in recent months, so has the cost of travel, leaving many people wondering if cheap air ticket prices exist any longer. But, well-heeled travelers know that regardless of the economy or the state of the travel industry, there is always a way to save money and fine a cheap plane ticket.

It seems that it has always been very challenging to ferret out the best ticket prices on airfare because it is not always a simple and straightforward process. There are many people who decide that it is virtually impossible to get cheap airline tickets and they throw up their hands in defeat before they even really get started. But for those who know where to look and who are willing to put in the additional time it takes, there are many great deals on air tickets that can be found.

When looking for cheap airline tickets, it is always a good idea to spend some time searching on the internet. In the last few years the internet has gotten to be a very powerful tool that has become popular with travelers because it is such a terrific research tool, thus allowing a person to uncover a discounted plane ticket easily.

These days, all of the major airlines have large and sophisticated websites that allow you to check prices, do your ticketing, check on flight status and sign up for alerts for special ticket prices. In addition to the official airline websites, there are also many travel sites that are designed specifically to search the airfare data of all of the airlines so that you can quickly and easily make a comparison of the airline tickets available, with regard to your specific date and destination.

With this kind of information displayed on your computer screen, you are able to quickly rule out some of the airlines and just focus on the ones that offer the best ticket prices and flight schedules that best match your own travel needs and schedule. Most of these sites specialize in trying to locate the cheap airline tickets because they know that is what most people are searching for on the internet these days.

While there are many great bargains in air ticket prices to be found online, any well-heeled traveler also knows the value of their local travel agents. With the way the internet has changed how people look for cheap airline tickets, many people forget that travel agents still have many connections in the industry and that they are often privy to special pricing on air tickets that are not published in any other place. A good travel agent who is experienced and proficient at their job can be one of the absolute best ways to save a lot of money on your travel expenses.

People who have a lot of flexibility in their travel plans are probably in the best position to get the best deal and enjoy a cheap plane ticket that so many other people dream of. The reason for this is that the airlines prefer to have their planes taking off with all seats filled, even if it means many of the seats have ticket prices that are deeply discounted. Use The Internet To Find Cheap Flights In Greece

Monday, October 6th, 2008

If you are planning a trip to Greece for a vacation or if you are feeling a little homesick and would love to go home for a while but cannot really afford the trip take heart, it is possible to find cheap flights in Greece by Internet surfing.

Obviously there have been great strides made in technology so why not use that to your advantage by booting up the computer and checking out the thousands of offers that are available through the Internet. You can always start out with a basic search such as “cheap flights to Greece” or even “finding cheap flights to Greece”. There is no doubt that this search will yield a great deal of results, but as you start sifting through them it may get a little easier to figure out which would be right for you.

If you have nerves of steel and can be ready at the drop of a hat then you may want to consider going online to find some of those great last-minute deals. Why nerves of steel? Well, let’s face it, if you have been planning to take this trip for a while it can be a little nerve racking to keep your fingers crossed and hope that a cancellation will happen right when you need it. Or, you are on stand-by, again hoping that it will come through now when you need it. While you are at the airport you may be able to get a discount or even a voucher for future travel if the flight is over-booked and you offer to wait for another one.

However, you do not have to literally hold your breath and hope that you can get a seat on the plane. There are many discount sites on the Internet and you have probably heard of most of them, Orbitz, Travelocity, etc. where you can still find deals a little further in advance. Some of these work by you placing a bid, or you just enter the price that you want to spend on the flight and hope that you are able get it. You can also do something similar by going to EBay and looking over all the trips and placing a bid on one of those.

Many times you can get a great combination rate, meaning if you also include a car rental or hotel stay, they may offer a good discount on the whole package. You can also find cheap flights in Greece by Internet when you check out the different airlines websites looking at their scheduled stops and transfers. Many airlines offer reduced prices depending on the number of transfers involved as many people want a flight that goes straight through without stops. So, if you do not mind having to make a few plane changes or if you do not have a problem having to wait a while at an airport during layovers, then you should be able to get a great deal.

In order to find cheap flights in Greece by Internet you only need to have Internet access, a little patience and perhaps a little luck.

Attention All Travelers; How Would You Like Information About Discount Travel?

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

The economy is bad enough right now when trying to pay bills, buy food, and other things, why in the world would you want to spend more than you have to on travel? There are tons of sites out there that will allow you to travel cheap! You can get a price break on airfare, car rentals, hotel/motel expenses and much more. These websites are discount websites, which doesn’t mean low in quality, just low in price. You can still travel anywhere you want, stay wherever you want, and rent whatever kind of car you want. Don’t worry this isn’t going to be like one of those scary thriller movies about the couple staying in the creepy hotel! These hotels are like the ones you would be staying in if you paid the original price. You can go anywhere in the world as well, there is no stipulation about only getting this great discount price if you stay in your city or your country. Here’s a few examples just so you can see there are NO restrictions!

United States Airlines- Jet Blue, Us Airways, Delta, Southwest, United

Hotels/Motels - Ritz, Holiday Inn, La quinta, Comfort Inn, Best Western (this doesn’t account for speciality hotels located within that country, state or city)

Car Rentals - Honda, Suzuki, Chevy, Ford, Nissan, Pontiac

And that’s just the bottom of the barrel. You can also fly first class if you choose to do so, or stay in some really fancy hotel for a discount price or even rent a mustang for a really great price! And none of those examples above even touched the real sleekness of this! Notice I didn’t mention flying first class on the Euro jet Italia into Rome and then stay at the Grand Hotel Parco dei Principi while renting a Mercedes Benz, but just because I didn’t mention it doesn’t mean it can’t be done at a discount because? It can! I simply didn’t list “international” examples above because there are 20 zillion different cities and airlines and hotels to choose from!

The sky is the limit with this! The same things you would do if it wasn’t a discount site, you can do when it is a discount site. There is no difference, except for the price! Which is what we all want any way right? To save a few bucks but still get the quality we desire? Try it out for yourself, you will see exactly what I mean!

Tips On Planning An Adventure Holiday

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

So you’re an adrenaline junkie, with a thirst for a holiday in the active/adventure holiday category? Here are a few tips that are worth considering before you book your holiday.

Sort out the correct documents

Before you settle on a holiday destination - regardless of whether you’re travelling independently or with a company - check Visa and inoculation requirements with the Foreign Office (www.fco.gov.uk) and that the country you’re travelling to is both safe and politically stable. You may not be insured if you go against Foreign Office advice.

Adventure insurance

Its good new that there are a great number of companies that offer insurance specially formulated toward groups or independent adventurers, who aren’t satisfied with relaxing on a secluded beach like the rest of us. Each company has varying opinions about what is and isn’t classed as adventure, so it’s worth taking some time to find a policy that suits your style of adventure and chosen activity.

Check the company out

When booking your adventure holiday, do your research into the company that you are booking with and ask a representative about the experience and qualifications of their staff, as your life may just be in their hands. Check that the equipment that you will be using throughout the trip is certified safe and has been tested for any faults.

The independent traveller

If you decide against going as a group or with a reputable adventure holiday operator, there is a checklist that should be considered. Firstly that you are aware of the dangers of the type of sport you will be partaking in and that you have made sure your equipment is thoroughly checked before packing it to leave. Another important thing to remember is to always have local emergency numbers and insurance documentation with you and that someone knows where you are heading each day encase an accident does happen. Also if a minor accident does happen you have a first aid kit to deal with it.

Personal Fitness

It is worth making sure you are ready to put your body under the strain that your chosen activity will put on it. If you are a newcomer to the sport, try doing a training session at a local facility in order to get a feel for the muscles that will be needed. This may also alert you to additional safety clothing /equipment you might require on your trip. Whether you’re experienced or not spending some time preparing your body will help minimise injury during your trip.
As you can see an adventure holiday takes lots more planning than your standard package beach holiday, but it’s better to prepared and get the most from your adventure, so you can do it all again on your next adventure.

Budget Airlines - Cheap For A Reason?

Monday, September 29th, 2008

For every person that has bought a flight on the internet and wondered why it is so cheap - this article will explore and hopefully dispel the myths that surround budget airlines. Like everything in life and as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for. But is it worth saving that extra cash for your trip or splashing out on this small part of your holiday.?

So, you buy the ticket at a great rate, albeit with some hidden taxes, charges and fee and prepare for a great holiday. As the day of departure approaches, you eagerly anticipate the holiday or trip itself, but you are probably a little apprehensive about the flight. For those who haven’t used budget airlines before, it is hard to know what to expect from the flight.

Travelling by aeroplane can be awkward, irritating and tiresome so you expect a budget airline could be worse. All the worst things about flying will be emphasised by the ‘budget’ part of the flight company. Will you regret this decision that seemed such a good one when you made the booking?

Leading up to the flight, you may get e-mails regarding information that you need to provide to assist a smooth check-in. You can opt for an online check-in, allowing you priority boarding on to the plane. This is a great idea as some flights will not have seat numbers, forcing groups to be separated as the plane fills up.

Providing the information via e-mail enables a quick check-in at the airport with queues reduced to a few people at a time. The whole process is reasonably easy and makes your experience even better as you seem to be able to take more advantage of the duty-free and airport shopping.

Boarding the plane is as difficult as normal airlines, if not more difficult due to the lack of numbered tickets. As you make your way up the stairs, the delays are noticeable as people hunt for enough seats together to keep their families and friends close by. This is mildly irritating, especially in the cold and wind, but also can be a common problem on the more expensive airlines.

Finding a seat is a race and for people travelling in groups is a dog-eat-dog situation. Regular budget fliers are clearly aware of how to take advantage and will punish hesitation in the newer budget travellers. Go in focussed and make sure you grab that seat before someone else does. You will regret it if you delay for only a few seconds as a budget airline is a dangerous place for consideration and politeness.

Once seated, those travellers over a metre tall will notice the considerably small amount of leg-room allocated. As a flier that struggles with my knees on any aeroplane, I was quick to realise that leg-room is at a premium on budget flights. Again, early boarding can rectify this problem before it starts, be quick to grab the emergency exit seats as there is ample room for six footers and up.

As the flight commences, don’t expect a meal. Free food is one of the sacrifices that budget airlines will force upon you. Not the biggest loss, especially as it usually adds a substantial amount to the overall cost of the flight. If you get hungry while flying, take some cash and take advantage of the various snacks available. They may cost a small fortune but what do you expect when you are flying a thousand miles for five pounds.

Don’t expect a peaceful journey. You may feel bombarded with sales pitches and various products will be presented for your perusal. Again, they are looking to boost profits and who can blame them when they get me so far for so little money? If you manage to resist the hot croissant, glass of wine or scratch-cards (for charity, of course) then the flight will still be cheap.

When you land in your chosen destination you may face the next problem with budget flights. It would appear that a lot of the cost of flying could be in the location that you land. The flight may tell you that you are landing in Barcelona or Rome, but you could be a hundred miles from the city. Again, this can be sorted out pretty easily with a train or bus ride - not pushing the cost of travel to anywhere near that of a non-budget airline.

Overall, the cost of flying with a budget airline is certainly the key benefit. Regular fliers with premium airlines will find the flights a little uncomfortable and not as pleasurable but the price certainly makes up for any inconvenience.

As long as you know what to expect, budget airlines tick all the right boxes and sacrifice the luxuries that you won’t miss at all. The flights are cheap and still get you there so what’s so bad about no in-flight meal and restricted leg-room? Budget airlines may be cheap but that’s not a bad thing when they offer such a competitive service to those of us that can’t afford to fly in a winged five-star hotel.

How To Nail Really Good Airfare Deals

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

For those of you who really are into traveling a lot or has inkling to go from places to places either because it is for business or pleasure or both, you must have been into searching for really good deals of airfares. If airline could only give you the discount you need for every travel you do because you might have been traveling for a long time then you must be shooting for the stars. Airliners are doing business too just like you do. However, there really are some cool ways for you to nail some good airfare deals every time you travel. And here we try looking into them one by one.

Your FLEXIBILITY is one factor that will get you some really good deals. By flexibility I mean you can make changes into your original plan as may time require. You do not have to be so firm about every schedule because once you enter into this kind of mode you are indeed not going to get some good offers from airlines. You only need to compromise regarding the schedule of your flight because it will most likely result into getting you a cheaper seat. As the case may be, airlines would want to fill in empty seats so if you are the type whose schedule can be changed anytime, then you can benefit from the airline’s system however one problem that sometimes you must face is the fee that is required for you to rebook a flight schedule. That is one drawback of having the booked flight earlier on.

If you are a regular air traveler then you already got huge gains because you already have more or less many information and tricks rolled up on your sleeves especially on how to obtain the lowest possible airfare rate that you can get. If you have already been acknowledged by airlines as their regular consumer, then you might just be lucky because they can offer you some real goodies. It can be point reward systems and you might just have the biggest reward because you have been traveling a lot. You probably owe this to airline competition. As a consumer, you may want to take advantage of many airlines who wants to be a step ahead from their competing airliner.

Many airfare deals are on the rise during this time where situation are getting worse because airliners know that as much as people want to save, it is almost impossible to do away with traveling whether by air or by land. During this day, both consumer and provider would see to it that there is balance between them. Providers will offer great deals and it is up to consumers if they would want to take advantage of this opportunity being opened for them. However, usually consumers would take this opportunity especially if they are on to processing their travels. Airliners have also opened many options for consumers to look into when they book their flights this will enable them to have flexibility as much as possible.

Local Airports Reduce Holiday Getaway Stress

Monday, September 22nd, 2008

Planes carrying 700 passngers and cruise ships with thousands of people on board have been introduced into the world of travel in recent years - but for many people it’s small that is beautiful, not big.

Local airports are perhaps the greatest method of travel left for those desiring peace and a more efficient solution for their travel needs, rather than having to travel to a major international one with the parking and security stress that often comes with the territory.

Many people think of major airports and cringe at the thoughts of lines requiring hours to get through, thousands of people going in different directions at once, constant worries of baggage and claim issues, and confusing parking policies. Yet, there is one way to fly that completely removes all these worries at the same time - the local airport airport.

These smaller facilities are typically just as reliable as the major airports, but with many advantages. The fares are often more affordable and the queues are far shorter. Because these airlines serve fewer passengers, you will reach your destination faster and with less hassle. You are also less likely to be held for long periods of time for taking food onboard with you. Since smaller planes are used, more flights are safely allowed, and you are less likely to be marooned due to the common problems aboard large airlines.

The ease of parking in regional airports is another convenience many passengers enjoy. The lots are smaller and more organized, and it isn’t common to literally lose your vehicle amid hundreds or thousands of others. Even large regional airports offer a better experience when it comes to automobile storage.

Regional airports offer services that will take you into large cities, but also offer options of bypassing more urban areas when the final destination is on the outskirts of a major metropolitan area. These airports use smaller planes, allowing greater access to additional facilities, regardless of where you travel. Many locations are limited to regional airports, and if you choose a major airline, you will need to either board a second, smaller airplane to reach your destination or drive a considerable distance.

Regional airports today are as connected as major airlines through technology. Weather, security information and all other relevant details are available through regional airports, just as with major airlines.

For a fine example of the regional possibilities for travelers, take the beautiful island of Tenerife. This is one of the Canary Islands and offers lush, tropical beauty for all visitors. The Los Rodeos Airport, or Tenerife North Airport, is a wonderful example of how these smaller facilities can take you to new and exotic locations.

The Tenerife North Airport is one of two on the island of Tenerife and will take you safely and expediently to your destination. Tenerife is a paradise of the Canary Islands and is often referred to as, ‘Paradise Island.’

Cesar Manrique, a renowned artist, designed a series of seawater pools for everyone to enjoy. Manrique designed his architecture around the natural vegetation of the island and created a magnificent living work of art. Tenerife also offers botanical gardens and a gorgeous view of Teide Volcano.

Using a local airport does not mean you are missing out on any destination, it only means you are expanding the potential of your travels to reach far more exotic locations in the world.

I Want Cheap Airline Tickets

Friday, September 19th, 2008

Getting an airline ticket for less than a hundred bucks may seem impossible at first, but if you earn some clever tricks to obtain them safely and legally, you will be surprised at what you might discover!

The best way to obtain airline tickets at low prices is through online shopping but you can find them at some travel agencies as well. Should you encounter any difficulties along the way and would need to make some changes it lets you do that through its friendly change of plans policy. Let’s look at some ways you can use to get a cheap airline ticket legally and efficiently.

To be safe, do check with the airline company before you move with any other steps. You can subscribe to their emails and get instant notices about the available discounts and offers made by the airline company. The direct access to the airline company will enable you to convert your trip to air miles instantly and probably get a cheap airline ticket in the process. But you do need to check some offers from third parties that are just as exciting. you should check out some of the packages being offered by travel agencies, they come with accommodation and transportation that makes the whole deal very attractive.

There are some very effective ways that are used by some of the savviest shoppers around to get substantial savings on their flight ticket. To be able to gain substantial savings for the flight ticket, this is the number one rule-plan early.

Last minute deals can be tough on the price but do to discount the possibility of still being able to get a discount. Exercise patience though, if you need some last minute deals, there are airlines companies offering them as well, so get your act together and start researching fast.

The key factor related to getting good deals is how adaptable the traveller is. Cheap seats are almost guaranteed if you’re willing to be flexible and compromise on the day and time of year you travel. To save money airlines will slot people into empty seats, so if you’re willing to modify your dates to suit the airlines’ program, then you can benefit on their decision. However, with most airlines, once you have booked your flight, you can usually switch to a different date only on payment of a fairly hefty cancellation of amendment penalty. The other point about being flexible when looking at flights is that if you want to change or cancel your flights without incurring a charge, you will most likely have to pay for the expensive full fare.

Proper timing is important to get the best deals around. Check out the airlines website on Friday, they usually start any feature deal on this day. You can check them on Saturday morning as well. If you can be flexible about the day you can travel and not be rigid about the requirements, you can find that the options are wide. There are some decisions to be made. By doing some simple research it will help you gain substantial savings when looking for your next cheap airline ticket.

Manchester Airport; Always Striving To Improve And Develop

Wednesday, September 17th, 2008

Manchester airport is a major airport within the UK, its size and passenger numbers are large and considered to be the largest outside the London area. Naturally as with every major airport today Manchester is filled with accompanying services such as car hire desks, shops, cafes and restaurants. Like Heathrow Manchester has two operational runways, an advantage over airports like Gatwick and Stansted. The site also has its own railway station and extensive road links meaning that it is a major air transport hub in the north of England. In the previous twelve months Manchester saw twenty two million passengers fly in and out; the site is not owned by BAA but is instead owned by the Manchester Airport Group, a group doing well enough to consider buying Gatwick airport in the coming year.

Like many of the airports in the UK Manchester started operating during the thirties as part of a growth in air travel more generally. Originally the site’s location in the parish of Ringway gave the airfield its name. The inaugural flight went to Amsterdam in 1938. The outbreak of war however meant that the site was soon requisitioned for military purposes. During these years the airfield was used for flying operational sorties but was predominantly used as a testing and training centre. The British manufacturer Avro, makers of the Lancaster, used the site to test their bombers. In terms of training it is believed that the site was the major training ground for the newly formed parachute regiments that were so instrumental in the new form of warfare.

As with most airfields in the UK the ending of war meant a return to civilian use. By the late fifties Manchester was ferrying half a million passengers annually. Such high usage meant expansion and growth to accommodate large passenger numbers. Additionally, the jet age required extensions to the runways as well as larger more efficient terminal buildings. At this early stage airport bosses started to fill these terminals with shops, cafes and car hire desks as a means of earning extra profits through tenancy agreements. It was not until the seventies that the site was renamed as Manchester International Airport.

As the major airport outside of London executives soon realised the opportunity to begin long haul flights from the site. Long haul planes however meant yet another runway extension to accommodate large jets like the Boeing 747. This expansion yielded great results. By the early nineties around ten million passengers were using the airport on an annual basis; clearly having a major airport outside of the London conurbation was a good idea. It was during these years that another terminal was built with all of the auxiliary services like car hire desks, shops and restaurants. Additionally it this period also saw the addition of a rail link to the national network and a second runway. The second runway increased passenger numbers two fold in the next decade or so and is large enough today to accommodate the gargantuan Airbus A380, the largest passenger jet ever built.

Manchester airport today is the largest and most commonly used outside of the three major London airports. It has developed from a small airfield named after a local parish to a bona fide international gateway. With the facilities to accommodate the largest and most modern aircraft it will continue to be a leader in the world of air travel. As a fundamental link in the transportation network its future is somewhat assured.

Air travel expert Thomas Pretty looks at how car hire Manchester airport services have been integral to the site’s development.

Gatwick Airport; Battling Throughout Its History

Monday, September 15th, 2008

Currently Gatwick airport holds second spot in terms of size and passenger numbers in the UK charts. It has managed to achieve this position without a second runway, heavily using its single runway to great effect. In the last twelve months it is estimated that Gatwick saw thirty five million passengers come through the doors. While this figure is large, it only just over half of rival Heathrow’s passenger numbers. Naturally with such huge numbers of people passing through the airport, a vast array of accompanying services such as shops, restaurants, car hire desks and cafes have built up.

Surprisingly it was Gatwick and not Heathrow that was the first airport in the UK to have a direct rail link to London. The rail link was created however not for the airport but for the nearby racecourse. This racecourse can actually be attributed to the original arising of the airport as it was due to people flying in to watch races that an airport nearby was constructed during the 1930s. The rail link went from the racecourse to the airport via an underground tunnel. This tunnel however was prone to flooding and was eventually closed.

The issue of flooding was such a problem that it jeopardised the future of the Gat wick site. Originally planners for the government felt the flooding of the site combined with the regular dense mists meant that Gatwick would not be a development possibility. At the time it was in competition with Stansted in Essex, with government planners weighing the benefits of each site. It was not until 1952 that the cabinet finally made the decision to develop Gatwick over Stansted.

One of the reasons the government chose Gatwick was because of its proximity to London; it already had a rail link and services such as hotels and car hire desks were already building up in the area. Additionally, with plans for the M25 underway, the government were acutely aware that access to Gatwick from anywhere in the country would be a possibility. In comparison, the rural location of Stansted did not lend itself well to immediate development; since this period however it has been built up considerably.

Unlike Heathrow Gatwick only has a single runway to handle the large amount of air traffic. This is mainly down to the fact that from the outset of development the site has had planning and construction restrictions placed upon it from local authorities. This restriction is set to be lifted in 2019 and airport chiefs are already planning their next move. The site may gain a second runway but more likely will be an increase in the accompanying services such as car hire desks, cafes, restaurants and shops as these bring high levels of income to the site. Something any modern airport must do to survive.

Today the air industry means catering for almost any need that the passenger may have. This may be the provision to hire a car or simply to provide them with somewhere to eat. However Gatwick is attempting to go much further, in the area there are a large amount of hotels ranging from luxury to basic cubicle rooms. In addition the site has business conference facilities as well as a number of different chaplains and places of worship.

From its early beginnings Gatwick has evolved from an airfield purely servicing the needs of a racecourse to a major airport that is currently second in the UK’s list of top airports. A question remains as to whether the site will be able to expand as Stansted is doing and even whether its owning body BAA will still be in ownership within a year’s time. No matter what challenges arise however Gatwick will continue to be an important link in the UK’s transportation network.

Travel expert Thomas Pretty looks at car hire Gatwick airport services and their role in funding the site.

Cheap Airline Flight - Doing The Research Will Find You The Deals

Thursday, September 11th, 2008

There are numerous people that have their mind set to get various cheap flights, yet they never actually make the effort. Mostly they depend on individuals to do it for them, the third party types of companies that are around just to put together cheap packages for those travelers who don’t wish to do it on their own. While many of these types of deals are good enough for most people they are rarely if ever the best.

The majority of airlines typically offer some of their discount tickets up to these types of companies, however in the end, the bigger deals that they carry are offered directly from them. With some basic research, consumers can very easily locate different cheap airline flights on their own, likely they will be less expensive than anything offered by any of the travel companies.

Locating The Best Deal

For consumers, doing research is a key element. As a matter of fact, the best cheap airline flight is likely the one that is closest to home. That is to say, it is very important for people looking to travel to be familiar with their respective local airports, and to know which of the airlines frequent those same airports. There are many large cities, such as Boston, that have bigger sized airports, however there are other airports within reasonable driving distance that can serve as alternative choices.

These type of secondary airports - New Hampshire, Rhode Island,
Manchester for example, quite frequently have cheaper flights due to the fact that they are less popular. They also serve as hubs for some of the airlines, and those airlines quite frequently fly out numerous amounts of flights, yet will not be able to book all of them.

Many airlines would prefer to sell a cheap airline flight as opposed to having no flight at all, so many consumers are likely be able to secure good deals if they spend their time researching which airports are nearby, and which airlines service those airports.

An additional type of information worth looking into is peak travel times. Throughout the country, numerous different airports experience varying volumes at different times. Seasons, Holidays as well as school vacations all play a significant factor into these fluctuations, so what would be a period that is crowded in the Northeast area might not necessarily be a crowded time in the area of the Southeast. Many airlines will offer a cheap airline flight for a specific span of dates.

If people looking to travel can make plans around those particular dates, and of for them it doesn’t matter when the trip happens, they will be able to spend a lot less money by catering to the needs of the airlines. During travel times in their peak periods people are going to seek out flights regardless, so many airlines can afford to raise their prices. However, when travel times are poor, airlines will make available a cheap airline flight on a consistent basis in the hopes of securing at a minimum at least some business.

Manchester Airport; Development, Buyouts And Iris Scanning

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

Manchester is currently the biggest airport outside of the London region and in terms of Europe is regarded to be the twelfth busiest. With around ninety five airlines regularly using the airport ranging from passenger to cargo, the site can be seen as the gateway to over one hundred and eighty destinations worldwide. Passenger numbers hover around the twenty million mark, something that with further expansion, the airport chiefs will hope to increase. Unlike many of the major airports in the UK Manchester is owned by the MAG (Manchester Airport Group) and not BAA. With three terminals filled with car hire desks, shops and restaurants the site generates and income of around six hundred million pounds a year for the local region; in addition employing over thirty thousand people from the local area.

Beginning its life as the Ringway Aerodrome, named after a local parish, it rapidly developed into the airport of choice in the north of England. Like most airfields in the UK it was requisitioned during the war years for military purposes, the site being instrumental in the training of the newly formed parachute regiments. The site was also an important development and testing site for British manufacturer Avro, testing many varieties of bomber and reconnaissance aircraft. With two runways it has the provisions to cope with transatlantic flights and as such, passengers are given the option to fly to destinations in the US, such as New York, Chicago and Dallas.

With the conjecture surrounding the Competition Commission’s criticism of BAA, and accusations of monopolistic tendencies it is likely that the MAG will benefit from any developments. Recent reports indicate that the Manchester Airport Group have put together a bid team to discuss the option of buying both Gatwick and Glasgow airports. While discussions are almost certain to include negotiations on price, it could be a beneficial move for the group. This may not be music to the ears of BAA however, it is likely they would have preferred to sell Stansted rather than Gatwick, but MAG chiefs are adamant that due to Gatwick’s likeness to Manchester in terms of operations, this is a more preferable purchase.

Naturally any buyout would be lucrative; the large number of income generated by Glasgow’s and Gatwick’s car hire services, shops and restaurants makes any deal extremely worthwhile. It is likely however that the finances needed would require MAG to partner with another company; those in the running are predominantly European groups such as Germany’s Hochtief, or Credit Suisse. With MAG being part owned by Manchester City Council, issues concerned with public funding of any buyout may also occur.

As with every airport in the UK, security has become a major issue at Manchester. As a result, executives have enacted high technology solutions to the problems of security. One of these solutions is the iris scanning of all staff members that enter the airside component of the terminals. It is hoped that this system will control the access of the thirty thousand staff to sensitive areas. The system is still in its induction period but executives are hopeful that it will limit if not totally diminish any instances of unauthorised access to aircraft and the airfield apron.

Today Manchester has evolved considerably from its humble beginnings. The group in ownership is wealthy enough to consider buyouts of other UK airports while security measures are some of the most advanced in the country. One thing is certain, the site will continue to develop in order to service the UK’s second city and beyond.

Air travel expert Thomas Pretty looks at why car hire Manchester airport services are likely to be important in the site’s development.

Gatwick Airport; Development With A Passenger Focus

Thursday, August 28th, 2008

The second largest and busiest airport in the UK currently is Gatwick. The site only has a single runway but despite this is able to handle thirty five million passengers each year. Flights leave Gatwick to around two hundred different destination worldwide, with around two hundred and sixty thousand flight movements at the site annually. It was opened by the Queen in 1958 and this year celebrates its fiftieth year of operations. For the latter thirty of these years Gatwick has flown to destinations in the United States and other transcontinental destinations. Today it is a modern airport filled with auxiliary services such as car hire desks, shops and restaurants.

The name derives from the thirteenth century and in the Anglo-Saxon means dairy or goat farm. Originally, the site was used for horse racing and it was because of this usage an airfield was built up near the racecourse to accommodate pilots wishing to view the races. It was in the thirties that the site went from private to commercial usage, a circular terminal being built at the site; affectionately named the ‘Beehive’. It was during this time that an underground passageway was built to link the airport to the racecourse’s railway station. This was so passengers could make the transition from London Victoria without having to brave the elements. This subway was prone to flooding and as a result, London’s predominant commercial airport was moved to a site in Crawley.

Despite this loss of commercial flights, Gatwick continued to be used as a military training school and a base for aircraft maintenance. This function continued during the war, when military aircraft were regularly serviced at Gatwick airport. It was after the war that the future of the site was called into question due to its drainage and fog problems, Stansted in Essex being preferred for development. Ultimately however the government chose the Gatwick site; investing nearly eight million pounds during the fifties to make it a major passenger airport, naturally the new terminals were filled with car hire desks, shops, and restaurants to improve the experience of travellers.

Since this period the site continued to develop, although restrictions on development have restricted it to its current boundaries, subsequently putting the option of a second operational runway out of the question. Even so a number of terminals have been built to accommodate the increase in passenger numbers and the provisions to meet the requirements of larger aircraft. As a matter of reference, the new terminal built during the eighties cost around two hundred million pounds, showing the stark contrast between construction costs in the fifties.

Today as well as having a large number of car hire provisions, Gatwick has a number of passenger facilities to improve the experience of travellers. Naturally shops and restaurants are in the terminals; additionally however areas have been built to keep children entertained whilst waiting for flights. Business travellers are well accommodated, with a number of executive lounges ensuring a stress free way to travel. A conference centre and many meeting rooms are also present to further accommodate the needs of corporate customers. Surrounding the airport are a number of hotels with rooms ranging from luxury suites to capsules for budget travellers.

As Gatwick has developed from an airfield purely servicing the needs of a racecourse to a major airport in its own right it has kept a focus on the importance of the passenger experience. Building large numbers of accompany services has been vital in this, meaning that today Gatwick is less of an airport but a fully functioning town with everything you would expect from a high street and commercial district.

Air travel expert Thomas Pretty looks into why car hire Gatwick airport services have been instrumental in the site’s development.

Familys Stay United With Low Cost Airlines

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Emigration to another country by a family member for a new job or for a better life in the past often meant that family would be left behind, to be rarely seen again, with letters the best way of staying in touch.

But new technology and low cost airlines have changed the way families can stay in touch, with the prospect of a career overseas no longer as huge a step as in the past.

E-mails and webcams allow instant communication, and low cost airlines allow for physical reunions much more than in the past.

The Internet, with its e-mail, webcams and instant messaging continues to transform work, retirement and communication. People no longer feel isolated if they live in different cities or even different countries. Now, people can work, study or retire anywhere and still feel connected to those they love. With more people living further away from family, it’s become a boon to the airline and travel industries.

Many retirees in search of abundant year round sun are retiring in locations that take them further from “home.” Lower airfares now allow family to visit them more in their new habitat. They afford opportunities for the retirees to get back home more often.

Many Canadians for example who have retired now winter in sunnier climes such as Florida.

Today’s global marketplace and the opening up of borders mean increased career opportunities away from home too. This is especially true in Europe with the expansion of the EU eastward. Workers can migrate across the continent freely in search of employment.

This phenomenon goes beyond Europe, though, with the United States also a career and retirement destination. For retirees, the southern states of California and Arizona are prime retirement States.

When it comes time to retire though, many Europeans still seek their place in the sun in Spain. The mainland of this country, along with its beautiful islands remains a popular retirement option.

Spain is the third most popular travel destination in the world. The mainland boasts a wonderful Mediterranean climate. The summers are hot. Moderate temperatures are the norm along the coast in the winter, with the islands warmer. Those wanting to escape winter’s clutches now choose Spain more than ever. Consequently, when people retire, they are choosing Spain as home, and not just a vacation spot.

The Balearic Islands, which belong to Spain, offer the exact comforts that many retired people seek. The main islands that compose the Balearic’s, in the Mediterranean, are Majorca, Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera. Those looking to change their lifestyle to one of contemplative, as well as active leisure, increasingly choose one of them. It’s no wonder, with the Balearic’s enjoying approximately 300 hundred days of sunshine a year.

Menorca is the second largest of these islands. Known for its lovely beaches and relaxing atmosphere it beckons those that want life sunny side up. The island has 120 beaches in an exotic environment of coves, cliffs and forest backgrounds. Mahon, the capital of Menorca, sits by a splendid natural harbour.

Majorca, a sister island to Menorca also known by its Spanish name Mallorca, offers a tapestry of locales for those wishing to travel or retire there. Again, it’s a lure to those seeking retirement where sun is a constant companion. This island comprises impressive mountains in the interior and verdant countryside. It is home to the capital city, Palma - which is of a slower pace - and deemed a “walking city.”

Menorca’s sister island Majorca has a lively resort area, an equally lively nightlife and fantastic beaches. Culturally speaking, it contains many churches and mansions of great architecture in the historic section of Palma. The island is all things to all types of people who visit it or choose to make it their permanent home.

No matter where one lives in the world, low airfares are making it easier for families to congregate regularly. Be it a trip back to one’s native land, or an invite to join someone on a Spanish beach, inexpensive air travel and modern technology for communication unites families.

More information about the island of Menorca is available at yourmenorca.net and includes tour operators who specialise in holidays in Menorca

The travel site has just put up a new gallery of Minorca photographs along with Mahon airport and flight to Minorca information.

Aberdeen Airport; Past History And Future Plans

Located in the area known as Dyce, around five miles from the city on a north-westerly direction it gives access to this unique Scottish city in a matter of hours from a variety of different destinations. Passenger numbers at the airport last year reached the impressive figure of nearly three and half million; startlingly, this was nearly eight percent more than the previous year.
